Just an update on this program, we had our first meeting yesterday, and it was a huge success! 9 kids made it to the meeting, with 2 others that plan to come to future meetings. So, 11 total, which for me is a comfortable number right now. The kids were really engaged with not only the shooting (which they got a lot of) but also in thinking about some of the tangible projects that we are planning. We're going to be meeting twice a month, 3-4 hours per meeting. All of the parents I spoke with were very happy, and thought that this program blends well with their homeschooling efforts. All-in-all, I think we have the beginnings of a very successful program. If anyone knows where I can get my hands on some cheap BP supplies (flasks, measurers, etc.) please let me know. I'm trying to put together our own program kits rather than using our county program supplies. Also, if you see any #11 percussion caps available in the Captial or Saratoga area and don't buy them all yourself, if you wouldn't mind dropping me a line, I'll make a drive to get some. We're stocked for several months, but I don't want to dig too deeply into my own supplies if I don't have to. I'd love to share some photos, but I'm just a little protective of the kids and posting on a public forum. I'll try to get some at the next meeting that are less identifying.

Holy cow, what a story! Glad you didn't get mauled by momma!

That's actually pretty cool. I've seen those German deer leg knives and they bring good money and are UGLY. This is actually pretty neat looking.

Modern knife collecting has gotten really weird across the board. There is more emphasis on unique designs and a weird obsession with boutique steels. There’s nothing a bit wrong with Buck’s 420 or Case’s CV or Tru-Sharp, but there’s a push for these specialty steels now like VG10 or S35, which though they are sharp and hold a good edge, none of them re-sharpen as well as the classic steels in my opinion. As someone who uses my knives, being able to re-sharpen them easily is more important to me than being able to cut through cordage 15 more times than a BOS treated 420. I still think it’s hard to beat a Case sodbuster in terms of value and quality in an American knife. I’m carrying an old Sodbuster from the 70’s today. It’s a rare one that has a liner lock. Probably has the strongest back spring of any of my knives even being 50 years old.

Political Compass Test

I'd be interested (though I'll never remember) to do this again in 10-15 years and see if and how my perspective has shifted. -

It's funny, in answering the question I had no earthly idea where I would end up. I think this is a good way of showing how perspective and worldview shape our thoughts and opinions. It's not that any of us are out to destroy the country, but just that we look at the world through a different lens. Thanks for sharing this @Water Rat. -

NYT in 3, HNY in 5.

I love collecting knives. I mostly collect Made in USA folders like Case, Queen, Western, etc, but have a few fixed blades. Nothing too high dollar, but stuff that will hold its value. That’s a nice little collection you’ve got there.

It’s the puzzle ones that get me. When I open a cache and have to solve a mathematical riddle to find the next clue, I bow out.

My wife and I did it a few years back before we had the girls. It was pretty fun, and they are all over the place. I remember one near our house was in a small woods, in a Planters peanut jar wrapped in camo duct tape.

Both in 3 for me.

NYT in 2, HNY in 6. Kind of running the extremes.

Still not sure what’s going on, but whatever, as long as no one’s getting hacked.

One of the best. They should have never attempted a sequel or prequel, just let it be.

So in other words “They offered me a ton of money to stay for another year.” I can’t blame him. I always think of Daniel Tosh’s Brett Farve bit. Sorry for the language, click the link knowing that he does curse. https://youtu.be/nsttE3TG9DE

I’ve seen 3-4 different people replying to posts with text from the Magna Carta. Is this some sort of hacking thing?
