You nailed it. I don’t know why so many people waste their time being angry. I know I’m absolutely blessed.

Why we need Trump in 2024
Splitear replied to Grouse's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The past several years have moved me even more solidly in the middle. I’m unaffiliated. I cannot support, nor do I want to be associated with most of the conduct and behavior of either party. -
Above ground pool... What am I getting myself into?
Splitear replied to mowin's topic in General Chit Chat
I’ve had coworkers tell me that the robot vacs are really worth it. However, getting half an hour to myself to listen to audiobooks on a Saturday morning is priceless. “Honey, can you watch the girls, I’m going to vacuum the pool so we can use it this afternoon.” -
Carry permits, jokes on you suckers !

There are certainly people on both sides who hate anyone on the other side. However, there’s a whole bunch of folks in the middle who just want to live happy, normal lives, and wish the same for their friends and neighbors. They are quiet people, while those on the extremes get the most air time because they are the noisiest. You are correct though, there are plenty of people out there making a lot of money and accumulating a lot of power by keeping people scared and angry. It’s disgusting, and it happens from both sides. -
Issues With New Smith and Wesson Victory
Splitear replied to Splitear's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Thanks to everyone for the advice. I did find quite a bit of discussion online about the ejector needing to be tweaked, so I went out to our range over lunch and I think I corrected the issue. After adjusting, I ran 40 rounds through with no issues. Hopefully it's good to go now. -

I vacuum our pool once a week usually. The biggest expense yearly (monetary and time) is opening and closing. Once you get the water in good shape, maintenance is pretty easy. Ours was at the house when we bought it, so I don’t know anything about installation. Our daughter loves it though. -
Happy Birthday @Chef!

The Colt shot really well today.

I got a few hours to hit the range this morning, and decided to break-in my new S&W Victory. The night after I got it, I took it apart and then lived it per the manual. This morning was nothing but frustration. Literally 6-7 rounds out of 10 got hung up either in the ejection port or inside of the next round. I only took a box of bulk Federal Automatch with me, so it could be the ammo, but honestly, I bought this gun because most of the reviews I read said it would run anything they put through it. I shot about 8 mags hoping things would loosen up and correct, but no such luck. I took a photo of the empty casings, you ca see how they were getting crushed on the ends. Does anyone have an idea of what might be happening, and is it something that I should contact to get warrantied? At this point, the pistol is pretty much unenjoyable to shoot. This is the first new firearm I’ve ever bought, so I’m not experienced in warranty expectations.

What about if he walked out of a fence row in front of you after you’d only walked 40 yards from the truck. Different, but not by a lot.

About a month ago, I purchased my first 1911, a Ruger SR1911 CMD. I was happy with it, or thought I was until I went into a local shop last week to purchase a S&W Victory and saw this old Colt. It’s a ‘71 Commander, and I just fell all over it. I bought my Victory, and came back the next day to see about trading my Ruger for the Colt. Long story short, they made me a fair trade offer, and I brought both the Smith and the Colt home today. The Colt fits my love of “old” guns, and I have a feeling this one is the keeper. It’s in great shape, with very little bluing wear, and everything is nice and tight, not a rattle to be heard. I’m very pleased.

I’m about halfway through this one, a quick read that I’ve been taking my time with while also reading “The Old Man” by Thomas Perry. I started reading Papa about 10 years ago and consumed a ton of his work over the course of a couple of years. This book is a great mix of firearm history, literary and early 20th century American history, and of course Hemingway’s ability to “tell a story truer than it actually happened.” One thing that I’m most shocked by is how many of Hemingway’s guns are unaccounted for. His famous Model 12 Winchester was bought in NYC in ‘63 as a “used gun”. The guy had it refinished, not knowing it was Hemingway’s shotgun, and then traded it for a SxS in 1980 in Jeffersonville, NY. No one knows what happened to it after that. If you have a model 12 SN, 525488, let me know and I’ll pay you book value for it I highly recommend this one who is interested in Hemingway and his sporting endeavors.

Roe vs Wade
Splitear replied to GreeneHunter's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I'm pretty sure what you're advocating for here is a compromise. Easy NCM, that's heresy in today's political climate, NO COMPROMISE, NO SURRENDER! -
My parents raise wire fox terriers, and they have sold a couple that have become "ratters". They are great dogs, and ferocious when they get on something. I saw our old male "Tucker" pull a big sow coon off an oak tree one time by her tail. She was able to get away before a fight ensued, but it would have been something to see. They also have an airedale that was given to them some years ago, Brody. Talk about a fantastic dog, calm, gentle, and very loyal. My dad loves telling about the time he knocked a pit bull out of his collar when it came into their yard It's hard to believe that this photo is 12 years old now, but this is me with my wire fox "Bo". One of the best dogs I've ever had. Unfortunately he was hit by a car and passed.

Ruby the bulldog with her treat buddy (my daughter) Ellie. Penny the pug, out for her first (and much despised) hike. Boo, or as I call him “Dog”. He’s been by my side for 12 years now

I hoed the weeds out of strawberry patches and picked apples at an orchard when between 12-16 years old. Also putting up hay for local farmers. When I turned 16 and became legal working age, I worked at McDonalds for a year, then at the sawmill and pallet factory through community college. Outside of the first 2 weeks we were in New York, I don’t think there’s been a time since I was 16 that I wasn’t working somewhere.

I see that Tyler Durden (the articles author)has went from being an imaginary 2nd personality to a serious investigative journalist…. Sorry, once I saw that a fictional character was the author, I quit reading. Seems to be a theme with some posters on this site… https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/zero-hedge/

Looks like a fishing spider. I don’t think wolf spiders are that stripy. Was it near any water? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolomedes_tenebrosus
