  1. Unless they decide to ban that type of action, someone will always find a loophole around the rest. And I honestly the republican senators would vote for any more anti-gun legislation, especially on an election year. Then again, I would have said the same thing before Newtown.
  2. Cool, thanks...wonder how I missed it. Time to start looking into building my AR platform before they outlaw those stocks too.
  3. This article is written from a clear anti-gun perspective, but I'm curious about one thing... How are they raffling these off in NY? It's the only piece of real news in the whole article, and they don't address it. Anyone around Troy know the shop and have the answer? http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/gun-worshiper-wins-gun-church-raffle-article-1.1731578
  4. Tough perspective to judge...are we talking 12 or 20 gauge?
  5. If you know what bow you want, AT is also a great place to shop to pick up used bows. There are always tons of recent models up for sale.

  7. Before you settle on a new bow, I suggest shooting an Elite Energy 32 and 35. I fell in love with them both when I was choosing a new bow to get (after using the same bow for 8 or 9 years). I ended up going with the E32 for a little more speed and a little more maneuverability.
  8. Got my new rest and stab on yesterday: Still waiting on the quiver....
  9. I would also consider going out for Spring turkey. Personally, Spring turkey is one of my favorite hunts, and I have shot a couple of birds on public land not too far from you (Stewart State Forest in OC). Go to You Tube to learn how to call, that's what I did. Order a couple different types of calls, get a blind and dress in black so you don't have to spend a ton on camo for you and your son. Also, you can only hunt till noon, so the young ones don't get as impatient as with a full days sit during deer season.
  10. Which reminds me: Watch several videos on field dressing a deer. The last thing you should want is to shoot an animal and then have it go to waste because you have no idea what you are doing after the shot. Also, if you don't plan on processing it yourself, have a place picked out and know that they are open on the days you are hunting. The quicker that deer gets skinned and cooled off, the better it will taste.
  11. I think those shows, with no real life experience to counteract them, would give a brand new hunter a complete misrepresentation of what real hunting in NYS is really like. If you want to learn a particular skill (how to grunt, how to field dress, how to call in turkey, etc) go to You Tube.
  12. Where is that statistic from and what was the criteria involved to measure being an active participant in the winning of "freedom"? Serious question, I have never heard of the number being that low. Most higher level (post HS) history books I have read split the feeling of the country into 3 parts ( 40% Revolutionists / 30% Loyalists / 30% Apathetic). Rough estimates, of course.
  13. Terrible news, you and your family have my condolences.
  14. With so many people willing to fork over ~$120 dollars for just a stupid quiver, you would think they would be trying to get them out as soon as possible. I have a feeling Elite is having a hard time dealing with the success of their 2013 and 2014 models.
  15. I guess "order" might be too strong a word. My dealer has been on the phone with Elite 3 times a week trying to get a hard answer and when they will be shipping the one piece quivers. So far all he has been able to get is small number of two piece ones. I have "dibs" on the first 1 piece Xtra he gets his hands on. Last he has heard, the 1 piece just started production and could still be several weeks until they are shipped.
  16. Fantastic choice, I got one myself this Christmas in RT Xtra. Getting my Elite QAD and stabilizer on it today (Quiver still on back order). I love the bow, it draws so smooth, with a great back wall. You can hold it at full draw all day. Congrats!
  17. Couldn't be further from the truth. I know all about how small of a percentage actually show up to the polls, especially on a non-presidential year. The only way this issue is going to get more people to the polls is if the Republican candidate makes repealing the SAFE Act a major platform issue. Making it a central point of your campaign is a double edged sword, because it also inspires and motivates the people who are against it. Republicans would need a very heavy voter turnout north of the city, with NYC and LI to post their normal dismal numbers, to even have a chance to win.
  18. Make sure you put some time in at the range (if you haven't already).
  19. I think you vastly overestimate the ratio between gun owners and non-gun owners.
  20. Try an Elite 32 or 35 before you buy anything. Or if you are shopping for a '13, the Elite Hunter.
  21. Banning guns for the sole reason that they have a pistol grip is just stupid. It does nothing to make anyone safer. I am really hoping that part of the law gets repealed, especially now that they already have "NY Legal" stocks that look stupid, but have basically the same functionality. I really wanted to get a DPMS Prairie Panther for coyote hunting. I was planning my trip to Cabelas the day before they bullied the SAFE Act through.
  22. I completely agree, I just don't see any Republican candidate out there (yet, at least) that can pose a serious challenge to him.
