My girlfriend went out and got me the perfect Christmas gift this year, the exact bow I was planning to buy myself once I cleared all my holiday bills. Elite Energy 32, 70#. I can't wait to get it all set up and start practicing for next season!

And to continue this thread on its tragic plunge off topic, his slave lover and mother to 6 of his children, Sally Hemings, was his wife's half-sister! Who said history lessons are boring!?

I wouldn't do it, bow or gun...just my personal choice.

Sorry, just saw this. I posted a pict in another thread, but here it is again: And an example of what the weather was like that day:

Not sure how old your friend is, but its been illegal to kill Bald Eagles in Alaska since the early 50s (and everywhere else since 1940).

10XX...Hopefully I'll get in this year. Never tried before, just bow hunted LI. -
Google what sea otters do to baby seals. Or what dolphins do to porpoises. And there are plenty more examples in nature, don't kid yourself.

A bad day in the woods still beats a good day in the office.

T/C Shockwave, I believe. I'll check again when I get home tonight and edit this post if I'm wrong.

And as for these foot size comments...hey now...

Couldn't tell for sure because the wound was not that fresh and had been healing. If I had to guess I would say a bullet grazed that leg a week or so prior. The bones weren't damaged though, I saw it trotting at a good pace before I got him to freeze so I could take a shot.
-
No exit wound. The shot was quartering towards me. I missed the lungs, but tore up the liver. He walked about 15 yards and bed down, then got up about 2 minutes later, walked another 15 yards, and bed down again for the last time. I was surprised (and a little concerned) that there was no pass through. It's something I plan to look into next year. I was using 2 White Hot pellets and a 250 grain bullet, that should be more than enough power for a pass through at 60 yards. Maybe it hit a rib and changed direction?

Elite Energy 32...or 35...haven't decided yet. But I guess if we're wishing, both?

Shooting the biggest guns money can buy

I'm very pleasantly surprised this piece had such a positive slant towards the people at the event. "VICE" is produced by Bill Maher, I'm glad they didn't try to spin the piece into being something more political than the pure enjoyment it seems to be. -
The first day of ML was kind to me. With a sheet of ice on my treestand and gun, I shot an 8 pt buck at around 3:30 in the afternoon.

I went with the smokepole, and I'm glad that I did. This is what Monday morning looked like in Mongaup Valley. For the results, see my thread in Deer Hunting.

I took off of work on Monday to get in one last day of hunting this year (I'm busy for the rest of ML season). After seeing no shoot-able bucks all bow and regular season, the extra day in the woods was well worth it. Small 8 pointer, but it's the biggest buck I've ever shot in 3H. The wound on its leg was a previous injury. My shot went in from the other side of the deer.

I was up there for the 24/25th, when it was a cool 15 and 12 degrees respectively. The first morning I had 2 button bucks (that almost got shot because I thought they were does until I scoped them) and a big bodied NY 11 pointer (1+1) walk by together. After that, I saw nothing for the rest of the time I was in the woods. My brother was out with me, hunting the other side of the hill, and he saw nothing at all during the same span. Going to try to make it out again for the last Sunday in regular season, and maybe stay for the first day or two of MZ.

Recently, I was able to shoot the 2014 E35 and E32 bows. I'm looking to upgrade sometime early next year, and I'm sold on these Elite models. The 35 has an amazingly smooth draw cycle, the 32 is a little harsher towards the end, but it's smaller and faster. At the moment, I'm still leaning towards a 70# 32, but I haven't decided for sure yet.

I have one, it's a nice scope. I really haven't had much of a chance to shoot with it past 100 yards though, so I haven't played much with the BDC calculator.

+1 Here for Easton Axis

I'm finally getting a chance to head back up this weekend (Mongaup Valley). Probably only Sunday, but maybe Sunday and Monday if the weather is worth taking a day off work. Looking to be nice and cold those two days.
