I completely agree with you, Doc. I'm sorry if my post gave you the impression I thought people should wait to register. I feel a person should always be registered and should vote in every election. I was just pointing out that none of the races this year can really affect the SAFE Act. That doesn't mean I don't think it's worth going out to vote. In fact, I feel the exact opposite. The more local the election, the more direct effect it can have on your life.

If anyone is interested, I can't speak with certainty for beyond NYC (but I believe the election cycle is the same all over), but this year should just be for local races, ie, Mayor, Comptroller,PA, City Council, County Committee, etc.
-
Just FYI, It's already past the registration date to take part in a Primary election, but you can still register for the General in November. The second link refers to our Federal representation, and there are no Federal elections this year (unless there is a Special somewhere in the state that I haven't heard about). There are also no State Assembly, or State Senate races year (again, unless it's a Special Election). In other words, next year is when this really matters. (Govenor, Federal Reps, State Assembly / Senate).

If its your first time using a climber, you might be more comfortable in a Summit Viper, or something with a front bar. I found it a lot easier to get up and down than one without.

The archery tag is a standard either sex tag. It actually also gets them a bear tag, believe or not. On top of that, you can also put in for the normal DMP lottery.
-
100% True. I've been doing this with my boys since they were twelve. Buy an archery tag for them and they can apply for a normal DMP that can be used in any season.

Sounds like you're well on your way. Taking those guns out to the range to get a feel for them and get them sighted in is a very important step. It's always nice to meet another hunter from the city. (Born and raised in Bay Ridge, live in SI now.)

I have, good stuff!

Fed bears tend to grow bigger than bears who don't have a 50 gal trough. I'd rather shoot a smaller bear that's truly wild, than something that's fed, fattened and baited into a kill zone. What's the challenge in that? Just my opinion.

Hah! Huge fan of the books, and HBO is doing a pretty decent job considering how detailed the source material is.

We had them start two or three weeks ago in Staten Island. Many are already dying off by me.

SI here...

That door has been open at the Federal level for years. Mountain, meet molehill.

Bah...now internet orders will be taxed.

Wow, that is one amazing story, and incredible pictures.

o.O....that's a no-no... I'm stuck working today, but I'll be driving up from the city at around 3AM with my boys to get some hunting in Sunday morning. Can't wait, this is the first year they are old enough.

Sign me up on the off chance I'll get more than one or two days out of the city.
