Republican only, for a primary that's basically over already since Romney is really the only one still running, in a state he has absolutely no chance of winning in the presidential, so he spends no money advertising here. Yes, voter numbers will be extremely low.

http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/70843.html "As stated above, DEC's goal is to eradicate feral swine from the state's landscape. In New York, people with a small game license may shoot and keep feral swine at any time and in any number. All other hunting laws and firearms regulations are still in effect when shooting feral swine. If you are in an area that prohibits the use of rifles during big game seasons, you cannot use a rifle to shoot feral swine during any open deer season (including archery seasons)."

That's great, I never knew that. Thank you again!

An unused regular season antlered tag can be used as an either-sex tag during late ML/Bow season? Are you sure about this? I know the tag can be used during ML season, but I can't find anywhere on the DEC site that says it becomes a valid either-sex tag. Can someone point out where in the regulations it says this. Thanks

That looks reeeeeeally good.

Ted does it again!

It made the news because he sits on the board of the NRA and he's famous. Its the same way with most crimes, if you're famous, they will print it. -
I think he's more afraid that another hunter will hear your gobble, see your decoy and shoot at it. A valid issue if you are hunt state land.

I bought new ones this year because last years calls were looking a bit nasty, even though I stored them in the fridge. Someone (I forget who should get the credit) posted recently that they store their calls in a small jar filled with mouthwash from season to season and they last years. I'm definitely going to try that this year.

I know the public outdoor archery range at Willowbrook Park in Staten Island does not allow crossbows. I'm not sure about any of the other public outdoor ranges, but I'm guessing, no. And if you were to fire any sort of bow in Central Park, you'd end up arrested, lol.

So now there is a Crossbow section, who owns / is getting one?
Sogaard replied to burmjohn's topic in CrossBow Hunting
If they allow crossbows in archery season, I'll end up picking one up for my sons. I still plan to use my vertical bow, but I would like to set my boys up in a blind with a crossbow until they get a little older. -
Raccoon for sure. In the second photo you can even see the black around the eyes.

I believe its a Barred Owl. Fantastic pictures, thanks for sharing!

Well, if we are talking about shows no longer in production: The Wire was one of the best shows ever. Period. Deadwood was great too, though the third and final season was rushed because they knew HBO wasn't picking them up again. If you like Justified, you'll love Deadwood. Timothy Olyphant plays the Sheriff.

Game of Thrones is on HBO. As for other great television shows - Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy are two of my favorites. Southland is another.

Big fan here. I've read the five books in the series he's already written, and waiting (not so) patiently for the sixth. George R.R. Martin is a brutal, brutal author. If you think what happened last year to Eddard was shocking, you haven't seen anything yet!

Could it be an E over the LG and not an L? And is there a star below the LG? If it is, that is a Belgian black powder proofmark that started around 1810. You might want to take the barrel off and look for more markings. And about your reloading kit, check out the second article on the page: http://www.oldammo.com/october08.htm I found all of this in about 10 minutes on Google. Try it

A picture or two might help. Also, look along the barrel for the proof marks or any serial numbers.

I doubt it, the state makes too much extra revenue from selling the different tags.

I'm not a big crossbow fan, but I'd like to get my sons started deer hunting before 14. They both shoot vertical bows now, but only ones with a 25-30lb pull. They still aren't strong enough to control a 40-50lb pull bow well enough for me to allow them to hunt with one. If they switch crossbows over to archery, it would give me the opportunity to take them hunting with me a season, or possibly two seasons earlier, depending on how their strength and vertical bow skills improve.
-
I think Airstrike was talking crossbows specifically when he wrote that. You're right about the age for vertical bow, but it seems crossbows are still at age 14 unless that legislation he mentioned passes.
-
My question wasn't directed at you at all. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. I'm asking a general question because my twins turn 12 this summer and I need to know it I should start saving for a crossbow!
-
Riddle me this: Can a 12 yr old hunt in regular season with a crossbow? I'm guessing no since the xbow is still not legal in archery season.
-
To use a bow, its 12. Most of the people on the thread have been talking about rifle/shotgun, which is still currently 14 (accompanied).

My boys are still 11 until July. I'm planning to take them out with me so they can get a feel for it, but no shooting for them till fall or next spring.
-
My twins turn 12 this July, and already have their lifetime licenses...if that becomes law before this fall, I'm going to have a busy season. Lol.
