And remember, most bills that propose radical change are written merely for posturing. Their authors know they have no chance of actually going through the legislation, they just want to be able to say they are tough on (insert FOTW topic). And also, I'm sure that "oakwood trading post" has a Bat Phone to the Governor's inner circle and knows exactly what he is planning, but just in case there was static on the line and he didn't quite hear the message correctly, lets wait till a bill is actually introduced before panicking. Its not like a gun store would have anything to gain by getting people all worked up. Well, unless they sell "AR-15 style rifles"...

I've taken an oath to try to hold onto what's left of my sanity and not discuss religion or politics on this board anymore. That being said, you really shouldn't worry about this till after the November election. Right now the State Senate is controlled by the Republican Party, nothing like what was mentioned above could get through it.

Bill to raise hunting age to 18

That bill was introduced in 2009. Relax and check your facts before getting all worked up over nothing. -

Between bigotry of "I would say the same of homesexuality... it is an evil sickness posing as normal behavior." and the plain old stupidity of "Also not born that way! Evolution would not have allowed for same sex to continue. The first gay would have been the last gay.", I'm going to recuse myself from this thread. I honestly hope that no one you know has to suffer in silence because of your views. -

So, you can't cite that phrase, chapter and verse? Yeah, I pretty much figured that, because its a quote from Mahatma Ghandi. I can grab and interpret things to say what I want them to mean all day long too. You stated 'He said, "Hate the sin, but love the sinner." ' in quotation marks. You were wrong. Jesus never said those words. But I forgive you. -

Ah, you must be referring to this. I have a question that should be very simple for you then. Please cite the chapter and verse this comes from. Good luck. (SPOILER ALERT!) . . . . . . . That line isn't actually from the Bible. -

Full disclosure here, I'm really, really hoping someone starts quoting from Leviticus to back their Bible thumping. It would be like an early Christmas present. -

Where did Jesus say homosexuality is a sin? And where is homosexuality still illegal in the US? -

Immorality? By who's standards? Are we back to the Old Testament again? -

For the second time in this thread, I'm going to ask all the Bible scholars, what was Jesus' view on homosexuality? I mean, I'm assuming since it is such an important topic, he would have a lot to say about it. -

Elected officials should be leading the charge, its their job! Elected officials reflect the opinion of their constituents, or else they don't remain elected officials for long. You think the mayor of SF is losing any votes for saying he doesn't want C-A-F in his city? And the mayors can "say" whatever they want. Saying something doesn't make it policy, and doesn't make it law. And to Grouse, who was nice enough to quote "Pearls before swine" (Matthew 7:6) earlier in this thread, how about you go back a few lines to 7:1, "Judge not, lest ye be judged." -
I have only one word for that beast: Wow.

Well, either he is what one should define as a very "Special" deer, or someone is feeding him. I know many, many deer that have never, ever been hunted and live very close to populated areas that still don't let you get within 40-50 feet of them. I've never heard of a truly wild animal coming up to you unless its sick.

God? Do you mean Jesus? Or the guy from the OT that also supposedly said you should be put to death for eating pork and shellfish, along with a dozen other incredibly stupid things? Because last I checked, Jesus didn't weigh in on the subject much. -

The same arguments were said in the 50s and 60s about interracial marriages. We managed to survive. Go figure. -
I gave the DEC site a quick search and I can't find any mention of 400,000 deer, just the 228k (http://www.dec.ny.gov/press/80755.html). Do you have the link where you read the 400k number? I can't believe the DEC would think that almost 50% of deer harvested go unreported.

Maybe that law is in place because they don't want people taking low percentage shots leading to lost animals. In other words, shoot once, and shoot well. Ignorance of the law has never been an excuse in this country. The burden is on you to do the research. If you think a specific law is stupid, don't hunt in the area it pertains to. Granted, I wish many of this seemingly trivial laws didn't exist, but elected, state and local governments put them in place, not the Feds. -

Its not the average hunter you have to worry about, when you open it to the public, you have to account for the lowest common denominator. -
