If your pump is in the well itself than wouldnt the check valve be located right before the pressure tank? Thats atleast how its done around this neck of the world. Look for a brass piece connected between the black water pipe near the pressure tank. Its not uncommon for one to freeze up and split losing your pressure in the tank Submersible pump, check valve before the pressure tank shallow well pump foot valve (check valve) on the end of the water line in the well itself..

The hunting and fishing opportunities in this state are almost endless and for that is the only reason to me that makes this state great. TOO Many libtards and taxes. Owning my small business in this state makes life even worse. But everytime I pick up my flyrod, gun or bow. I forget all about the donks running this state and life is good again. Family mostly keeps me here or I would be in Montana or better yet New Zealand or Ireland or ahhhhhhhh never mind. This site is great minus some of the bantering back and forth amongst the same people all the time. Other than that the knowledge and info is endless. Love seeing the photos, hate hearing bragging, love hearing the hunting stories, cringe at the less than desireable ones, love the honesty, HATE the hunting organizations that are fighting other hunters rights ( or should I say priveledge)instead of uniting as one. LMAO Happy hunting fellow NYer's.

I smell NYB just saying lol. I will never ever understand this debate. AND yes Im an avid bowhunter and its my top choice to hunt with. Some are just never happy no matter how it will play out. From my understanding the choice for the saturday opener wasnt due to just kids, it was a big part of everyone works during the weekdays and there was less opportunity for alot of hunters to get the time of for the opener. Like I said once you start hunting the early Oct1 season you will be pleased Im sure. And then the day they change that you guys who dont like it will complain its gone. Bottom line is bowhunters are getting more time in the field and why would anyone argue that? The old debate of we lost the most important weekend of bow season is hogwash. Every day is the most important cause there isnt that many to begin with. So what if I have to give up a couple days to make it a special one where father and son, mother and daughter or whatever the scenario may be for them to share a special time in the woods dedicated all to them. If anyone thinks that a couple days for a youth hunt is going to alter "the bowseason as we know it" is kidding themselves cause there is more involved in the picture than just yourself. We get more time in the woods and certain group of people whine, we get a special youth hunt and people wine. NYB could get everything they want right to the crossed t's and dotted lines and I am willing to bet they would still whine.

I have been inspected by sheriffs dept and Dec on both LO and Oneida and not once did any of them ask If I had a Radio on board. I was asked if I had an ship to shore communication once and I showed them my cell phone and they were happy with that. Not saying its law or not if you need a radio but I have never heard or been asked to see mine and its not visible as its in a cabinet.

We been bow hunting up here in the north country on Sept27th for many years. Its different but still enjoyable. Most days its with a thin long sleeved shirt to keep the bugs off and thin hunting pants. There advantages to the earlier season and that more patternable deer, water and food sources especially apples up here as most are gone mid october around my place. The only problem I have with it and its just a personal one is deciding to go to camp or stay home to hunt. I have a hard enough time deciding what stand to sit in now I got to add a whole nother county in the equation. LOL good problem to have I think. Once you guys get out there in early Oct. you will love being in the woods and hunting 3 different weather patterns and when your freezing your butts off in late november and early December you will be longing for the the next Oct 1 hunt again.

Im not on the island, due east of lake ontario on the Salmon River and its bad here. It would of made you guys cringe to see all the ticks on the trapped fox this past year. I had one that was rendered useless as it had hundreds of them on it. Skinny and sickly looking. Sad to see.

Im taking tick off the cat or dogs all the time. I will give it a try and let you know. Even have tick stuff the vets sold us and doesnt seem to matter those nasty buggers are everywhere. Wifey had one on her the other night one of the animals brought in with them. Unreal how bad they are this year.

I have heard other hunters poking fun at guys who havent taken a deer yet myself. I have to chuckle, there are so many variables that play into the role of harvesting a deer. I have hunted with guys once that I will never even consider hunting with again but yet they fill tags regularly and dont put alot of time in the woods in the off season or in season. They just have a great hunting area. I used to be jealous of those guys with the big bucks taken every year and filled tags all the time, but Im with DOC on this one. I would be bored of hunting deer if it was that easy and I bagged bruisers every year. For me its not a bragging right of what I get, its on a much more personal level of the joy I get out of being one with nature. I have seen hunters struggle with coming to grips with their buddys tagging and bragging and getting them down. But once they got past the mental pressure and started enjoying just hunting they too started bringing venison home. I think alot get wrapped up in the mental part of it and trying to wow everyone, once that stage is over success starts to come into play. Not harvesting a deer doesnt make you a bad hunter in any way. I think it makes you stronger, keeps you learning and makes everyone tagged that more rewarding. Keep the faith your time will come just enjoy every minute of the journey.

My dad has hunted all his life and I think has only taken 3 deer. For him I have to believe its more about being in the woods and enjoying the hunt with his sons. Then I got an friend who wnated to hunt for a long time but never grew up around it and had no idea how to even approach it. Spent time with him prepping and helping show him the way along with another buddy. Opening bow one year he went out with our buddy for the very first hunt of his life. 10 minutes in the stand he places a great shot on an bueatiful 8 pt and get a nice quick recovery. When I went over to his house he said that it was too easy and never hunted again. LOL he wasnt buying the beginers luck stories we were telling him either. I know guys who have hunted 10 plus years and not gotten a deer yet either. The passion is definately there for them and the time in the woods preseason and during the season is put in as well. Things just havent come together for them yet. Took me 6 years to get my first one with a bow and I have been fortunate enough to fill a bow tag almost every year since. Just being in the stand and woods enjoying nature is reward enough, filling a tag and venison steaks on the grill is a big bonus.

See them all the time here. Epsecially when mowing the lawn. They love that grass.

cwhite I did too until they explained it better. They are dairy farmers and have no use for bulls. If they had beefers it would be a different story as there is a market for those. I know one particular farm that used to sell them for veal and got a whole whopping 10 bucks a peice for them cause they are holsteins. They figured it cost them more money to keep and keep and raise them to the young age the buyer wanted them that it was not worth the effort. Sad but these guys are making there living doing this and we all know its a tough life. I was raised on 2 farms myself so I can relate to the sacrifices these guys make day in and day out.

Male or female calf? There are farmers that take the males calfs out back and shoot them. Letting it suffer is ludicrous to say the least. If a male its possible his concern was very small at best. I have a friend with a horse farm and his wife keeps bringing the male calves home from dairy farms cause she cant bear the thought of them being slaughtered. Of course he has no idea what he will do when they are full grown and have to pay the bills to keep them either.

The more common name used around here is the Grass Snake.

Not sure as the last time I had it done that way it was 5 tons of lime. Dont know how much the truck holds but they gang up orders and the truck makes multiple stops to make it more cost effective for all invovlved.
-
Should be if you are planting in the spring, if you are doing a fall planting spreading lime in the spring will work. Anywhere from 3 to 6 months is a good figure for lime to start doing its thing. Dont expect good results if you are liming and planting all in the same time period.
-
If your property is accesible for a truck many places will even deliver and spread it for you on the cheap. Down at camp we have a truck come in and spread ag lime I cant recall the price but think it was 50 dollars a ton spread. Takes them about 5 minutes, neat thing is they had a lazer grid that measured the acreage to get the lime per acre spread right. At home I order 2 pallets of ag lime and they give a pretty good discount doing it that way. Funny thing was I ordered 2 skids as they told me it was a ton a skid and it ended up being 1 1/2 tons per skid. So I ended up with 3 tons for $120.

Splitg2 has it correct, a loop or release does not change draw length one bit. it only changes your anchor point. Unless you change the length between the string and rest/riser then you changed draw length. Your knock still makes contact at the same distance it always has putting a loop on or changing your release adds nothing to draw length. Your arrow knock should still contact at the same point as it always has as well, its where your hand anchors is what has changed.

If that camera is 2.5 feet in the air that is one tall cat to get a picture of that size and that close. If that is a tail it looks like it has been docked as it rounds off so sudden verses a pointy tip.

There are ticks in every part of NY. Here is a link to reported cases of lyme disease as well. Yes they are more abundant in the eastern parts but they are in your woods too. I recall reading about what provokes an abrupt outbreak of ticks with humans and if I recall correctly is has alot less due to weather than it does food supply for the little critters like mice that they are more frequent to come in contact with. A bad acorn crop and resulting in a loss of the critters in that area for example leads to a higher chance of human contact with ticks as there is less blood meals in the area. I live just east of lake O and I have taken 2 ticks of me one of the wifey, 2 off the dog and 1 off the cat. 3 years ago I said the same thing some here have said. I have never seen a tick before in 40 years of living here. Well that is the case no longer or has been in a few years. Just be careful and make it a nightly activity to spice things up with the lady of the house inspecting each other for ticks lol. http://www.cdc.gov/lyme/stats/maps/interactiveMaps.html

All the farmers around here say never plant before memorial day. I have always followed that unwritten rule.
