I ran an arrow going 350 ftps tough my ballistic program and here is what I got. Here how I did it not knowing his arrow weight I use the weight of my arrows 400gr that is with a 100gr head. Then not knowing the speed I gave it 350ftps that’s on the high side, I also had to give the arrow a ballistic coefficient I used .700 this is also high. Here the data the ballistic arc was just over 12ft if sighted in for 25yds the drop at 100yds is 8.6 ft.

To me the best time to hunt is Nov. 1st till the start of gun. With 10th - 20th being the best. I do think days with full moon are not as good as days with less moon light at night.

remember bio 101 killing does not will give you more bucks. If on your land you have 15 doe’s and 5 bucks (1.5 years and older) and you kill 10 doe’s and no bucks you still only have 5 bucks. What you have done is reduced the number of doe’s by 2/3’s. What you will see are more bucks sightings per doe sighting and you will see fewer fawns the next year.). Remember Bio 101 an over abundance of males is detrimental to a species survival. Also up to 2/3’s of the deer on any piece of land before hunting season are FAWNS! .

just to let you know the dec's 5 year plan is going to be coming out the end of May and alot of it will be base on this. deersurvppt2010.pdf

Prove their numbers are wrong. Do you have better numbers? If you have numbers you can prove are right maybe you can get a job as deer management program leader. Then you can be told you don’t know what you are doing by people with little or no knowledge of wildlife management. If their numbers are wrong then blame the 55% of us who are POACHING by not reporting are kill.

Factory ammo has to be able to shoot though all different makes of guns in whatever caliber you use. A good example of this is the 45-70 it has to be able shoot though the old trapdoor a lever gun and a bolt gun. They all operate at different pressures so factory ammo has to shoot though all actions for the caliber.

come the end of May the first part of June we will know the DEC's 5 year plan and maybe all the name calling will stop. could someone answer this i didn't get a answer when i posted it.What makes using a cross - bow any less fair chase then using a bow or a gun? -
Just to let you know the AR was not put in place in Letchworth so we hunters would be able in time to harvest bigger bucks. The AR. Program was put in place to put more pressure on doe’s. Their goal is to reduce the deer population in the park. Killing a buck no matter what size dose nothing to reduce the long term deer population in the park. We may see bigger buck in the long term but fewer deer. Why do you think they allow deer hunting in the park, it’s not for are benefit hunting is the cheapest way to control the deer population. If there was a cheaper way they would be using that instead.

What makes using a cross - bow any less fair chase then using a bow or a gun? Why is someone who wants to use a cross-bow called lazy, incompetent, and unethical or a slob hunter? No one in this State has ever seen a cross-bow hunter who is lazy, incompetent or unethical. They have not been able to hunt in this State till this upcoming season. (I’m sure after this season there will be some) We have all seen plenty of lazy, incompetent, and unethical or slob hunters, who hunt with bow and or gun. -

I would like to state that I am a bow hunter and have no intention of buying a cross-bow. I have a friend who has MS; so I decided to do some research into the cross-bow issue and statements made by the NYB, instead of blindly following the NYB. The first statement made by the NYB is. “A cross-bow is not a bow”. I thought that could be subjective, but there had to be a definition somewhere. I looked up the definition of a cross-bow in the Webster Dictionary and found that a CROSS-BOW IS A BOW! The next statement made by the NYB is,” it doesn’t take as much skill to shoot a cross-bow”. What the hell does that mean? Is that supposed to be bad? I would rather see someone with limited practice. Who can shoot a cross-bow well, than the guy who takes out his bow a week before the season, and then wonders why he lost 2 or 3 deer? ( that has happen look at the bow hunting thead) These two next statements are really good.” A cross- bow shoots faster than a compound bow”. That’s not true. Just look at the 2011 Mathews catalog they have bows that shoot just as fast on 1/3 the draw weight. This one is a good one.” Cross-bow can shoot 1” group a 100yd’s”. I’m not going to say it can’t be done, but there are some factors that have to be taken into consideration first. The first of these factors is Gravity. A bow or cross-bow with a 400gr. Arrow going 350fps and sighted in for 25yds will drop about 8.7ft at 100yds... If you sight in for 100yds the bow or cross-bow would be useless for anything less than 70yds. Then can you kill anything that far? If you can’t then it doesn’t matter how good the group is. Then there is the wind. An arrow has a big surface area it won’t take much wind to blow it off target. I found that most of the statements made by the NYB were either not true or only half truths. They claim to represent all bow hunters, but I don’t think they do! My friend is never going to climb into a tree stand again and a draw lock doesn’t work for him. A cross-bow may not work for him but he deserves the opportunity to try one if he wants. I have to admit I have limited experience with a cross-bow. I have only shot one once and found it to be heavy and cumbersome and noisy. To me it is more of a novelty. I’m not going to put 500 to 800 dollars down on one. The only advantage I can see is that it may be a more stable platform then a bow. When the cross-bow comes to the archery season; the blame for the use of cross-bow in the archery season should be placed squarely on the shoulders of the origination that claims to represent all bow hunters. The NYB is taking a no cross-bow no-way for any reason stand. They made it possible for the pro cross-bow forces to get almost everything in time they want, because the NYB made themselves look like elitist spoiled children. The NYB could have help craft a law that would have loosened the handicap restriction and maybe put in an age requirement. Let’s hope when cross –bows comes to the archery season those wanting to use cross-bows in the archery season will have to take the bow hunters course. -

What about bouncing Bette’s and I don’t mean the girl next door. Are they legal?

The scariest thing that happened to me while hunting is that I ran into BIGFOOT. We scared the crap out of each other. He went running toward the road, and was hit by a station wagon speeding down the road. Here the weird thing the people in the car got out and somehow got him up on the roof of the car. Then they took off down the road.

I do shoot with both eyes open when I use a scope

The best smooth bore slugs I ever shot were from Dan Arms & Active. I could shoot free hand at 50yds less than 3” groups.

Why waste the ammo just stomp the little bastard
