  1. You will not see any big changes this year no increase in AR’s the only will see maybe an Oct. 1 start to the bow season and the cross –bow thing. Here are some links to look at. deersurvppt2010.pdf arcomment09_aar1.pdf Deermgtopt08.pdf deerplanppt2010.pdf
  2. I would never use a 22-250 for deer unless I had no other choice, and then the only way I would use my 22-250 would be from a shooting house over a food plot taking head shots only out to 300 yards. It’s not that I’m that good but the gun is. You asked what is the heaviest bullet you can get in 22 cal. That’s around 80gr’s but you would have to reload it. You also have the problem if you go to a heavier bullet the bullet gets longer and your gun may not stabilizes the bullet in flight. My rem 700 has a twist rate of 1:14 and will not stabilizes anything much bigger then 60gr’s. I am going to tell you not to use a 22-250 on deer there are too many better deer rounds out there. Recoil is a problem then look at a 243 30-30 or even a 44mag in a rifle if your shots are 100yds or less for the 44mag.
  3. Here are some pics and none were shot over bait the cams were placed on trails and over scrapes where I hunt. Do you think that fawn knows where the camera is.
  4. Is my bird feeder baiting? I use cornless birdfood and the deer still knock the top off
  5. Finger Lakes and Western New York Waterfowl Association meeting at Iroquois NWR on Feb20th at 10am. If you are a waterfowl hunter in western NY you should attend there is information by state and federal agencies. Also the start of the 2011 season setting process will begin. For more info. Go to flwnywfowl.org
  6. What the DEC is using is a statistical sampling plan if the mythology is correct then there counts would be highly accurate. Here is another option for those who think the DEC’s numbers are way off Maybe what needs to happen is to have mandatory reporting on all tags for a year or two. I hate this myself but we can’t have it both ways. If we are not going to report are kills and we also don’t except the DEC’s calculated harvest data. Then mandatory reporting is the only option left, at the very lease it will tell us how good the DEC’s data is. If you don’t report on all your tag used, unused the next time you by a license you don’t receive the tags you didn’t report on. Also you pay first this would put an end to not reporting on tags fast.
  7. I have 2 700's they both shoot better than I do they both work fine
  8. Hey when this thread hits 100 pages it will self destruct
  9. Look here is what the DEC has said about ML’s in NY there is no breeding population of ML’s in this state. They have also said there may from time to time be an escapee or a release pet. As for the DEC releasing ML’s and keeping it a secret do you think anyone in this state can keep a secret. I don’t think so!
  10. before you think of no buck hunting for 3yr's you may want to read this arcomment09_ar.pdf
  11. this was in my back yard. I had to do it sorry
  12. Whether you are for or against AR’s; you do know the only changes we are going to see is maybe the bow season starting Oct 1st and the x- bow thing.

  16. I tried hunting bear once all I got was hyperthermia and almost put in jail.
  17. I just came across this thought some of you would want to know Richard Winters, the commanding officer of Easy Company, the Army unit whose gritty combat from the beaches of Normandy to the capture of Hitler’s mountain retreat was recounted in the book and television series “Band of Brothers,” died Jan. 2 in Campbelltown, Pa. He was 92 and lived in Hershey, Pa.
  18. Where’s AL! Has anyone notice that AL comes out only in the middle of summer when it’s 95 out claiming the ice caps are melting. We never see him in winter making that claim. HEY SHOULDN’T NYC BE UNDER WATER BY NOW. Would that be a bad thing?
  19. You guys do know that not reporting your kill is basically the same as poaching.
