1. Sorry no deliveries- only pick up. LOL
2. My largest buck to date was taken just this past firearms season in the SZ on opening weekend. Sunday morning (11/18/12) I get into my stand about 6:00am. Again it's cold, no wind and frost on the ground. About 30 minutes later several shots ring out - before legal shooting light. I sit and see nothing other than some doe over 400 yards away. At about 7:00am out of the corner of my eye to my right I see a buck walking toward my direction along the edge of the soyfield at about 70 yards. I glass him to check his antlers and I count only 4. I continue to watch him as he gets closer and I see 5 antlers, then 6. I decide at that moment if he presents a shot I will take it. He continues to walk across in front of my stand and he gets behind the same tree with the branches in front of me blocking any shot. He stops there and feeds for several minutes. It's about 7:15 now and my legs start shaking. I have my rifle scope on him following him and he stares right at me. I'm thinking - Crap! He made me. He stares at me for several minutes and then looks down and continues walking. I find an opening to my left and I wait for him to get to that spot. He slowly walks forward and gets into the opening. He starts to quarter away from me. I put the cross hairs on his left shoulder and squeeze the trigger. He stumbles to the ground and goes 7 yards and drops right in the soyfield. I get down from my stand and I slowly made my way over to the buck I shot. I look at his rack and notice he's actually had a small seventh point about 1" long but I don't care and I chalk him up in my mind as my first 7 pointer. I see the exit hole but no entrance hole. The exit hole was right in the middle of his chest. I then see what appeared to be a flesh wound on his right rear leg that seemed fresh. I'm looking at that and thinking - No way I did that! I flip this brute over and look for the entrance hole and after looking for several seconds I finally find it right above his left front shoulder exactly where I put the cross hairs on him. I was relieved. I'm wondering if that earlier shot I heard caused the flesh wound or was it from fighting?? I called my taxidermist yesterday and I was told he should be done by end of next week. I scanned through hundreds of trail cam photos but this guy was not in any of them. From what I gather his home turf must have been in the next property or two over and he ran onto ours after he was shot at early that morning.
3. True, they rarely go on sale. I think the one I got was a left over from the prior year's model and it was delivered in beginning of November. Maybe they were just trying to clear out their stock to get ready for winter stuff. Regardless, they do last. I've had Kenmores, Charbroils and other similar cheap brands each for under $100 but they only lasted about 1 year or so. Since then I've had two Webers in the last 15 years.
4. If you can wait until the end of the season (like i did 5 years ago) I got a Weber with side burner for $399 assembled and delivered from Home Depot (Regular priced at $800) Only thing I did in 5 years is replace the flavor bars. You need to clean out the burners once in a while to ensure an even flame.
5. And no I don't work for Thermacell and I don't think Phade does either . . . LOL! It works . . . Period.
6. Walmart, - $20 http://www.walmart.com/ip/ThermaCELL-Insect-Repellant-Olive-Appliance/19206345
7. Wearing my knee high Rocky snake boots. . . . but also carrying a snake bite kit in my pack - $10 at Dicks. Nearest ER is 30 minutes away in Dutchess County for me.
8. Nah! Permethetin spray and thermacell all set to go.
9. The weather in my hunting area is predicted to be ideal next week for them gobblers to be gobbling and strutting
10. Slow cooked bone in pork chops swimming all day in sweet red peppers, onions, mushrooms and tomato sauce served over a bed of Farfale pasta and a glass or two ... maybe three, of 2009 Roland Cabernet.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
11. 6 days left ...

12. I hear you! I have a 25th wedding anniversary/birthday party of close friend to go to Saturday night - and Sunday is Greek Easter so I need to connect on May 1st or 2nd because the next time I'll be able to go up will be Memorial Day weekend due to other family obligations.
13. I can't believe there are only 6 days left until spring turkey season. I started counting down from November 18, 2012, firearm opening weekend when I tagged out. I have been waiting for this coming spring since last year when I missed all of May due to an illness. I plan on heading up on Tuesday April 30th to do some scouting. Needless to say Tuesday will be a sleepless night . . .
14. Thank you. Good luck!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
15. The sewer Rat confessed and acknowledged his role in the attack. Why waste tax payer money on a trial? http://www.allproudamericans.com/bombing-suspect-reveals-his-motivation.html
16. I know there is a bobcat roaming around in my hunting area. I'll be sitting in a blind with the back window closed. If it comes around the front or sides and thinks I'm a turkey - BLAMO!!
17. Pygmy you beat me to it . . . well actually Elmo did. . . LOL!
18. I'm keeping my mouth shut! I got a nice big flock on my trail cam on my grounds right near our camp last month and my BIL confirmed it this past weekend. But I'm not saying anything . . . don't want to jinx them away . . . Sh! Be vewy, vewy quiet, I'm going to be hunting turkeys next week . . .
19. Why? Because this guy and his brother were refugees from a war torn country, were granted asylum and naturalization by the USA. They pledged allegiance to their new country when they were sworn in. As soon as they placed an IED and committed such horrifc terroristic acts, they broke that allegiance to the US. No one said anything about hanging him before he's tried, eventhough Bkln said to hang him in Times Square, (actually it should be Quincy Market in Boston) but only after he is tried and found guilty.
20. I don't mean to hijack my own thread but I just listened to a special news report where Canadian law enforcement thwarted a bombing of an Amtrak train that goes from Toronto to NY. Supposedly unrelated to the Boston bombings. These sewer rats are coming out from everywhere! I say we recall all our troops from all over the world and where ever they maybe and post them all along our borders with Canada and Mexico at every port, train station, bus station and airport to keep these rats out!!!
21. I can't believe our government is charging the little sewer rat bomber as a civilian because he's a naturalized citizen. I say he lost his citizenship when he detonated those bombs and treat him as an enemy combatant.
22. I was under the impression that not only do the ELA tests evaluate the teachers and school district as a whole but it also gives parents an idea of where their child stands in terms of their proficiency in certain core subjects like reading, writing and arithmetic. Why wouldn't you want to know how your child is doing and whether or not they're on track for college and career success, whether their reading and math skills reflect a path that will take them to college and career success? As a parent I certainly would like to know that. If my child does not do well on reading comprehension or basic math, then I would like to know that so I can work with him/her in that area. I would use this ammunition toward helping him become more proficient in the area he is slacking.(of course limited to 7 rounds - sorry couldn't resist)
23. My son is in 6th grade and he took the ELA's last week and will be taking the Math this week. I really don't understand those parents who complain about their child having to sit through 90 minutes of reading paragraphs and answering multiple choice questions. It's part of teaching reading comprehension which they will eventually need to be able to do in their future schooling and more importantly in their lives and in everything else that they do. Although I have told my son that the ELAs do not count toward his grade and that it is a grade for the school and his teachers, I still tell him to give it his best shot. Why? Because when he gets to the higher grades and he has to take regents or AP tests, he will at least be prepared at least knowing what sitting through a standardized test feels like. I understand that the Regents and/or AP tests are subject specific but the atmosphere is the same. I don't think nor do I remember sitting through ELA tests or the like when I was his age but I wish I did because my first major standardized test was the SATs and then the LSATs. I really did not know what to expect until I sat for them. As far as lying to your students as in WNY's daughter's case, I think that is completely wrong. Be honest with your students, tell them it's a test to see how well the teachers are teaching the students. I would think this would take a lot of pressure off of the kids as well as the parents.
24. Congrats! May 1st can't come fast enough!!!!
