2 schools local to me...
Deerthug replied to Single_shot's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Aside from these wackos there are those that like to spread rumors which incites panic. Today my daughter texted me to tell me that twitter was going crazy with rumors that there was a school shooting in Glen Cove. It turned out to be a hoax thank God. -
A nut job in PA shot and killed 3 people who seem to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, and was finally shot and killed by a PA trooper. No details on what he was shooting. No details yet. I'm interested to see how much the media and the antis will exploit this one. http://news.yahoo.com/four-dead-three-police-wounded-pennsylvania-shooting-paper-180118893--finance.html

I was surprised too that he bit his tongue when the ignorant protestors stood up. I heard on the news that in talks of security and armed guards at schools why did it take so long for his own security personnel to get the first one out of there? What if these two had evil plans rather than just holding up signs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I thought he said they will be having a separate Q & A on Monday didn't he?

I just finished watching Wayne LaPierre's speech on CNN. I must say it was a very powerful speech. Here's a link to the full text: http://home.nra.org/pdf/Transcript_PDF.pdf The best part of his speech IMO was this: "We care about our money, so we protect our banks with armed guards. American airports, office buildings, power plants, courthouses — even sports stadiums — are all protected by armed security. We care about the President, so we protect him with armed Secret Service agents. Members of Congress work in offices surrounded by armed Capitol Police officers. Yet when it comes to the most beloved, innocent and vulnerable members of the American family — our children — we as a society leave them utterly defenseless, and the monsters and predators of this world know it and exploit it." I agree 1000% with his statements. BTW those dumba$$ protesters that stood up are just plain ignorant.

Rabbit and sweet potatoes in the oven for my last meal. Oh yeah. I forgot the homemade wine. And red velvet cupcakes for dessert. I'm set to face the end! LOL!

No locks for me. I have mine stashed in strategic locations around the house as well as couple of aluminum bats as well. What's the point if you need to defend yourself or your family are you going to ask the home invader to wait a second while you unlock the trigger lock?

I had no idea what type of firearm that was in your picture. Nevertheless, I'm happy with my two shotguns, 30-06 and TC muzzy. Where's my beer?? -
Hear on the news that it was a fake using 3D animation done by some college kids in Canada.

I don't mean to sound sarcastic but I'm not sure what you didn't understand from my earlier post. I simply have no interest in these types of rifles. I never had any intention of purchasing such rifles even before the mass shootings. BUT I do NOT believe that they should be banned. Doing so would only be banning this type of instrument that just happened to be used in the last couple of mass shootings. As I said we need some more methods to keep these as well as other instruments of death out of the wrong hands. How we do this? I really don't know. Even if these rifles had been banned, I don't think anything would have stopped those wackos from blowing up the theater in Aurora, or the Oregon mall or the school at Newtown, which incidentally if done right, I think would have done a hell of a lot more damage than the weapons used. Evil is all around us and it will rear its ugly head again and again and again no matter what instrument is used. It's part of certain people's nature and it's a part of life and death. -

I am for certain changes. I have no interest in ARs or similar firearms. But I don't agree that they should be banned. Like Doc I believe that we should get rid of the state to state laws and institute a Nationwide law with more thorough background and mental health checks, before anyone can obtain a firearm of any kind. Some may argue that this will cause longer delays to getting a firearm but with today's technology it is easy to set up a computerized database containing the necessary information where licensed dealers can easily submit a person's information and get criminal background as well as mental health results within minutes. It's already done with long guns. It just needs to be more thorough. But then we have to consider how deep should they be allowed to go? I know that no matter what changes are made, they will not prevent the criminals from getting their hands on illegal firearms. But we need to start somewhere. -
They have all been taken last month from what I heard from the locals. Oh well...

He was on the news and said that he did pull his firearm, drew aim and the shooter saw him, but he lowered his weapon because there were people running behind the shooter to take cover and he was afraid he was going to hit some innocent. The shooter then turned the gun on himself. I guess just the mere sight of another civilian with a firearm that can meet lethal force with lethal force is enough to stop it in this case.

A company in Utah is manufacturing body armor backpacks for kids. Still just a passive approach. These may stop a couple of bullets but do you really think it would help in a massacre such as last Friday where the nut job sprayed each of the victims with multiple bullets? http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/sales-soar-kid-themed-body-armor-backpacks-171359967.html How about trying this one on for size? A little better security but again just another passive approach to defend against what happened in Newtown. http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/school-safety-inside-one-schools-extraordinary-security-measures-121623758--abc-news-topstories.html
