  1. My bow season is done to much going on but best of luck to all of you that still give it a shot!
  2. Definitely did the right thing. No need for people that Hunt illegally. Just hope it does not bring you problems now from this neighbor if he finds out who turned him in.
  3. For shotgun season I hunt out in Hither Hills in Montauk. I have shot most of my deer in the last 2 weeks of the season. It seems to me after everyone goes nuts and chases the deer all around the park and fire randomly that when it settles down is the best time for me. Best of luck to everyone.
  4. I did not see anything at my spot yesterday. My brother in the same area jumped a deer walking in and saw a buck in the afternoon but to far away. We both did hear 3 loud gun shots close by and saw a vehicle take off and we also on the way out found 2 deer rib cages, 4 deer legs and a hide. Interesting day to say the least.
  5. I'll be out Wednesday on state land in Montauk switching to my late season spot that sometimes has success. Last time out before the shotgun season.
  6. I always try to do my own but always good to have these options if I can't.
  7. I will be out on the island Wed. for my last bow hunt before the shotgun season in Jan.
  8. Welcome to the forum. Not sure if you have your license and all yet but you could always look into the late season shotgun here on Long Island in Suffolk county that starts in Jan.
  9. I do think theres a squatch in these woods!
  10. Wow that is a heck of a state land story. You 100 percent did the right thing. Congrats!
  11. Just wondering if anyone will be Hunting the January 7-31 late season shotgun on Long Island. I will be Hunting state land as usual during this season. I got my number for my reservation today in the mail and it was a horrible 1528 lol. My brother got 8! so I will be going out with him hopefully the first day. Best of luck to anyone that Hunts this late season.
  12. First day yesterday I was skunked all season. I always Hunt this one spot on state land which is a hot spot until December and then the deer go elsewhere. Same thing this year I guess. Time to try out my other spot next week. GL all!
  13. Wonder if the mountain lion is hanging with bigfoot.
  14. About the same for me as it has been every year. Good amount of deer sightings on the island and a couple of harvests for me.
  15. What happens if I'm up in a tree and the battery dies, how do I get down? The TreeRider has a dynamic braking system built into the winch motor which will slowly lower you down the tree.
  16. Best of luck to you. Hoping to hear good results. I will be out again on Monday. Lets knock one down!
  17. I hunt state public land on long island and hunt right off a trail where bikers and hikers roam all day long. I have seen and harvested some nice bucks and does at that spot. The deer are less spooky for sure. Still have to watch my scent and all but definitely helps to have deer conditioned to people.
  18. Any day in the woods beats a day elsewhere in my eyes. Can't get one unless you are out there. Never know when one will slip up and give you a crack at it
  19. Thanks for making us part of your hunt. Looking forward to more updates. Hope you get your deer!
  20. Lol I spray em down with fall blend spray before I wash em.
  21. Went out yesterday for the first time since Oct. 15th to my public land spot. At 7:30am heard crunch, crunch, crunch and just over this little hill a monster 8 point with his head down was cruising bye. Watched him stop and make a ground scrape. He ripped the ground up and then continued on. Was probably about 60 yards and never stopped to come in. Literally 5 minutes later behind me a nice spikehorn was on the move but out of my range as well. That was it for the day. Would have definitely taken either one. Will try that spot again next week and just hope somehow they are still around.
  22. I use a green camo blanket when the temps get really cold. I used it in Vermont last week and harvested a nice Buck. I feel anything that will keep you more warm and comfy being out there is an advantage. I got a few laughs from people about using it but hey it worked out for me. I am sure a sleeping bag would be great as well.
  23. New girlfriend indeed and congrats on the 1st of I hope are many to come!
