  1. I ground hunt and pee right where I sit. Seems the deer do not mind my smell lol.
  2. Posted this in the local Long Island forum but wanted to post on the official harvest thread as well....Was out on public land today. At 7am I saw the biggest buck I have ever seen in my young hunting career. This thing was massive but it was on the run and had no chance at it. At 10:30am a nice doe came by and now I have plenty of meat for my freezer which I am so so so happy about. Was my 2nd deer ever with a bow and my first doe with a bow. Best of luck to everyone!
  3. Here is a pic. Best of luck to everyone everywhere!

Great opening day and awesome buck LIHunt. I will toss up a pic later of my girl lol
  5. Hey there everyone. I am truly pumped up for tomorrow's opener. Took the day off from work months ago and have everything ready. Anyone else heading out tomorrow or anytime soon? Wishing everyone the best of luck and hoping to hear great updates from everyone!
  6. I use the exact same thing and have no issues with ticks or chiggers anymore. Where I hunt is not thick though so that could also help my cause.
  7. I have hunted nothing but public land my whole life. I hunt for a lot of reasons including family bonding but most important the meat. I am not a horny guy at all and have no issues shooting at a doe if I am even lucky enough to see one.
  8. This is the best guy that came out of my cam that I pulled for the first time today. I had some doe as well cruising through but this guy liked the cam I guess lol. Public land deer. Nice to see even if I don't during the season.
  9. I am heading out tomorrow to check my cam and do some of my last scouting. I have only been able to get out once in August so pretty excited to hit the woods tomorrow. Will see if anything good is on the cam.
  10. Another deer spotted in nassau today. Much closer to Queens. A deer spotted in a park in New Hyde Park this afternoon eluded animal control crews and is still missing, Town of North Hempstead officials say. As of late Wednesday afternoon, animal control officials were still pursuing the deer, which was discovered at noon roaming Clinton G. Martin Park at New Hyde Park Road and Marcus Avenue. "They tried to bring this thing down with tranquilizer darts," said Collin Nash, a spokesman for the town. "The deer kept going, scampered off, and they're chasing him off." The search was called off at nightfall. Officials said the animal had been shot with one dart.
  11. I was born into Hunting. My dad was raised in the country in Vermont and his dad and all of us would always spend time in the woods. I was happy being around the woods and big game since I was a very young age. I am inbetween my brother and the deer in this pic.
  12. Sarnoff tends to be really thick in a lot of spots but there are definitey deer around. I have hunted there before. Best of luck!
  13. A deer was spotted today in the bellmore/merrick area in nassau county. Here is the article with pics. http://bellmore.patc...#photo-10547228
  14. Definitely not a good thing. Ridge, Manorville and Riverhead looked to get hit hard. I hope everyone is ok out there.
  15. 2,000 plus acres of woods in Ridge and Manorville are on fire as there is a huge brush fire going on right now. It is spreading pretty quick. First and foremost I hope everyone fighting the blaze is safe and is able to get it under control. I know there is a lot of Hunting out in Ridge and that area. Anyone know if the deer will be able to get out of there? I guess I am just hoping for the best but does not look good. What a mess.
  16. Major tick issues on Long Island. So glad for the sprays they sell.
  17. My brother Richard knocked down a nice doe at 2:45pm. The doe was 8 and a half years old lol. The dec guy was shocked it survived that long. Definitely a great way to end the season. I got my buck in Vermont and both my brothers scored on public land in hither hills
  18. Well one more shot for me on Monday. Going standby with my brother out in Hither Hills.
  19. Rough season out in Hither Hills as far as the deer kill is concerned. Here is a really good article about it linked below. As for today I saw nothing and no deer were reported. http://www.easthampt...7eKBSfOro.email
  20. I will be out on standby at Hither Hills on Wed with my brother. My dad and other brother are hunting standby there tomorrow.
  21. I always have cold feet issues so checking out any of these items is always good for me. Thanks for the post.
  22. Congrats on the Deer antlers. Looks tasty yum
  23. I had deer ribs once and was so excited expecting them to be just as good as when I get them out. I was definitely wrong lol.
