  1. Missed tackle by Graham and the Patsies scored . Crap !
  2. On the doe I shot opening day , I hit just behind the right shoulder and the bullet smashed the opposite shoulder . I didn't realize this until I was cutting the deer up and found the bullet . The seers heart was like a mass of jello . I was using one of my reloads . CCI 200 -- 53 gr H4831 --- 117 gr Sierra SP (#1630)
  3. Oh , and those were definitely THUMBS. ! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  4. Years ago ( prior to 2000 ) I had no way to haul deer other than tying on to the roof or on the trunk . Often I would wait until dark to drive the 50 miles home on 390 , 590 and Rt 104 as it would be less noticeable to other traffic . Passengers in other cars would try to look away . Usually drivers in pickups would honk and give a "Thumbs up" . After I bought a pickup truck , that all changed . Anyway , I did what I had to do to get the deer home and never felt that I had disrespected the animal in any way .
  5. I have arthritis in both hands and it is difficult to take the hide off a deer . I bought a tool a couple years ago and finally used it today . It was quite handy and a real helper . LARGE GRIPPING TEETH WITH SCISSOR ACTION .
  6. I like the fact that hunters will take their young kids hunting with them . My oldest son does that . He is taking my 9 year old grandson to camp with him this weekend . He has taken the younger twine ( boy & girl ) out back on his property and shot deer while they were with him . All 3 have enjoyed the experience . Keep it up !
  7. I wonder how much of it has to do with shot placement or the hydrostatic shock of the bullet . The shock can knock the snot out of a deer .
  8. Awesome job ! Great looking deer . Shoot some of those doe while you are at it !
  9. For those of you that don't like , understand / comprehend Growalot's posts , don't read them . Go on to the next post . Why put yourselves through the agony of reading them when it bothers you sooooo much ! If it such a terrible ordeal to understand them ......move along to the next person's post . Why be a Masochist ( A willingness or tendency to subject oneself to unpleasant or trying experiences ). And now we are correcting spelling . Wow ! If many folks had to use Spell Check and it wasn't working and you couldn't post a misspelled word , there would be fewer posts on here . Several people type faster than they are thinking and transpose letters but we know what they are saying so what's the big deal . ........... Just an opinion ! Flame away ! Gotta go finish cutting up a deer . Later ..................
  10. Personally , I don't care if hunters do drives . I just don't care to do them . Farmers lose money on their crops due to deer damage . Do the drives . Shoot the deer and make the farmer happy !
  11. At first I thought the deer had a lot of dark hair until I realized it was the shadow of the person taking the picture . Nice buck !
  12. Enjoyed the story and what a great looking buck the kid shot . Too bad he had to hear garbage from a disgruntled hunter !
  13. Coyote season is statewide from Oct 1 - March 27 , Shoot'em !
  14. I was lucky that I was able to get a spark plug from the Polaris Dealer and get the Honda running . If not it would have been one heck of a tough drag with that opening day doe ! Spark plug and Ethalol Free gas $8 + Honda ATV Running .......
  15. Arrived in Geneseo at 6 am . Walked 1/2 mile to stand and was settled in at 6:20 . Sunrise was 7:09 . Heard the 1st shot around 7:15 . Not much shooting happening . The only barrage of shots was a 4 shot blast . Anything else was a single shot here and there . I didn't see a thing ! My sister in law said she walked down to the South end of her Lane Way and thought she might kick something to me . She saw a fawn and a doe and went back up to her barn . I left the stand at 11 and went to my car . Had a sandwich and went to Walmart to use the john . Came back and took a crash nap until almost 2 pm . I had a plastic lawn chair stashed there so I set up at the south end of the lane way so I could see all the way down the lane and across the gully lot pasture . It was pretty quiet with only a couple of shots heard . It was just about 4 pm when I saw two deer way across the pasture . They were way upwind of me and there was some cold wind . They were feeding on the mowed pasture and the bigger one was working her way towards me . She started to slowly head toward the thick area by the creek and I figured I had better take a chance and shoot . I ranged her at 145 yards . I aimed for the shoulder with the NEF 25-06 single shot and she folded right up . The other deer looked around and kept feeding until I started walking up to get the ATV . Came back with the ATV and sled . Loaded the doe and hauled her over to another field to field dress her so the gut pile wouldn't be in the pasture . While I was field dressing the doe I could see a couple deer milling around a couple hundred yards down the field that I was in . I was surprised how little shooting there was on this opening day . The last shots I heard were about 40 minutes past legal time . Almost 5:30 and it was dark .
  16. I did a Deer Drive with a bunch of guys on some properties around Logan Road in Groveland years ago . We took turns posting and driving . Had a buck come back on our way while driving . I swing my shotgun up and over and out of the corner of my eye I caught the guy to my left with his shotgun level following the deer as it went between us . My heart sank ! Scared the sha-zit out of me . I have only done drives with my 2 sons since then . Hunted state land in Canasagerous ( sp ) with another guy . We were set up before daylight . Heard a couple vehicles come down the road . They dropped some "mountain Men ) off every few yards . The guys looked like something out of "DELIVERANCE" . When the last guy got dropped off they proceeded to walk a line banging pans . Screwed up our day ! They had to be locals dressed in blue denim pants and jackets . Never went back there again ! I cannot imagine guys doing a drive with rifles but there are probably those that would think it is okay .
  17. Here is where I hit the doe with the 25..06 . She dropped on the spot. I got lucky on a 145 yard shot .
  18. Here she is. ...... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  19. Doe down. Gotta get the atv. And get it out of the pasture to gut it. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  20. A couple does feeding about 300 yards out. Too far for me. They have 50 minutes to get closer. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  21. Just short of one hour to go. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  22. The guy that I work part time for doing Real estate signs said he saw bucks chasing does in some yards in the burbs where you couldn't shoot. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  23. Texted the guy that leases the adjacent property and he said they probably wouldn't be hunting there today. That's where I saw most of the deer during bow season. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  24. Saw nothing this am. Not much shooting. Drove to Walmart to use the John. Heading back shortly. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
