I havn't seen a deer since the doe I shot opening day of gun season . They have gone into stealth mode .
  2. Is it the one on clearance at Tractor Supply ?
  3. Wow ! Might not have caught that if it had just been set for Photo . Good catch !
  4. Dying rabbit? Someone calling coyotes. ... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  5. Wore my Milwaukee heated jacket this am. So far I haven't needed to turn it on. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  6. All is quiet on the Western Front. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  7. My morning hunt sucked . It was cold , windy and damp . I was at my spot in Geneseo by 6:30 and stayed until 10:30 . Heard 3 shots a ways off north west of the property . I will give it a try tomorrow with the hopes that some hunters will be out moving the deer . Didn't see one car / truck parked along Lima Road where I used to see hunters park .
  8. No sightings here yet. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  9. Sitting in my stand in Geneseo. It is way too quiet. WINDY. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  10. I have a 5 foot sled that I put the deer on and tow it behind the ATV . Bought it at DICKs for $40 .
  11. That was a good read and then it has a good link to another good read .... 12 Reasons Why Your Venison Tastes Like Hell .
  12. Why take a chance of bringing the ticks home ............
  13. I just bought a backup winch at Harbor Freight for $49.95 + tax . Their price now with coupon is $59.99 for that 2500# capacity winch . Still a good deal and it has a remote .
  14. Gut pile is okay to leave on property as long as it is somewhat out of sight . Everything else has to go . Thanks for the responses .
  15. When I grind the venison , I use the coarse plate 1st and then the smaller plate on what I had just ground . I just bought another grinder ... a Weston with the stuffing tubes . I went on line and bought some Weston Vacuum Sealing bags and also bought some of the 2# tube bags for the burger . Now all I need is another deer .
  16. The last two deer we took out of South Bristol had a lot of Deer Ticks . We would hate to haul the tick infested deer back to my sons place and have the ticks in his barn or in the lawn . I was thinking , why not take a pulley / gambrel with him as well as some plastic totes and garbage bags . Then hoist the deer in a tree . Skin it and quarter it . Put the hide in double garbage bags and bring it home . Has anyone ever tried tried this ?
  17. That deserves a Two Thumbs Up !
  18. Nice going Growie. CONGRATS . Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  19. I am willing to bet that a lot of people have forgotten this rule . Most of North Western NY will be doe only during the ML / Late Bow Season . Page 27 of the regs booklet .
  20. You should be getting your own meat but that doesn't always at the processors . A lot of the burger is done in bulk and gets separated later . I sure don't want to get venison that came from a buck that some proud hunter had in his truck bed for 5 days . I'll take my chances cutting up and packaging my own deer .
  21. My son had some Hot Dogs made last year at Tony's . It ran him $125 for a bag the size of a Wegman's bag . Guy's were going out of the place with 3 and 4 bags . They must have cost $400 - $500 .
  22. Mucho rain forecasted for the Marion / Palmyra area tomorrow so I bailed out . My son can sit in his blind out back on his property or if the rain lets up he cam make a short drive to the Mendon spot or the Pittsford location .
