  1. My oldest son checked out a two man stand that I use during gun season in Marion . He thought someone had trashed it until he got up close and realized a downed tree had taken it out . He said it was a real mess and the only thing worth saving was the ladder . One of the disadvantages of leaving them up all year long .
  2. You fill out the form "honestly" and trust the DEC to do the right thing with the information . Other animals are also tracked .
  3. I have been getting and submitting the Southern Zone Bowhunting Sighting Log for the past 15 or so years . You track hours in stand , site location , bucks , antlerless , turkey , red fox , gray fox , racoon , coyote and grouse . The DEC gave me patches for 5 & 10 year participation . Does anyone else get this ?
  4. Nothing great on any of my Geneseo trail cams but got pictures of these guys . They have been in the camera lock box a couple times before . The 1st time I saw them , they startled me . Now I expect to see them in there .
  5. Can't you see the "Sky Hook " in the picture ?
  6. I cut my own arrows and have also cut shafts for others . I made my own arrow saw for $26 and used some scrap lumber . https://youtu.be/1Ef9RsOnEXk
  7. A wisker biscuit works great and contains the arrow in the rest . I had one and loved it but wanted to shoot Quik Spins . The Quik Spin vanes have a tab that would get ripped off or interfere with the arrow flight . Guys used to argue that they slow the arrow down but tests showed it made a difference of about 3 fps which amounts to nothing . Wisker Biscuit rests are great .
  8. I prefer the mask to hide the glare from my face .
  9. I don't hunt from a tree stand unless I have a harness on .
  10. I went down to my friend's property in Walworth this am and moved my 15' ladder stand . Getting a bit old for this . Need to do some minimal pruning for shooting lanes but the stand is a lot more secluded than where I previously had it . I will do the trimming in the next couple of days . I plan to stay away from there the 1st two weeks of bow season .
  11. I know that you know it was a joke . I remember a supposedly 911 call where a woman complained about a deer crossing sign that she wanted moved so the deer would cross somewhere else . They were being hit by vehicles near the crossing signs near her home . I didn't mean to throw the thread so far off line .
  12. Been there . But , no thanks . I may have a guy close by to change them for me .
  13. I am going to start placing trail cams by Deer Crossing signs and see if I can get some good pictures !
  14. Looks like she is playing peek-a-boo ............
  15. I have been using the wrist high gloves for years and see no reason to change . I also carry a couple of the Tops / Wegmans plastic shopping bags in my pack . I dispose of them in the bag and often leave my knife in there . Never leave the gloves in the woods / fields .
  16. He is smart . My cam is over 200 yards away across the swamp and the Big Guy only shows up when it's dark .
  17. Got some pics of the Big Boy plus a couple others on my friends trail camera .
  18. Thanks . I have another set of String and cable for the Ben Pearson . I got 2 sets a few years ago for doing a review on another site . I tried calling Trader Point Archery and the number is no longer any good . The fellow that changed my string & Cable before closed his shop . I won't go to those jokers in Williamson . I shot 31 arrows this afternoon and another 16 after supper . I can still draw 70# . I'll be okay with the Parker . I just feel more comfortable having a backup bow .
  19. I had the string break on my Ben Pearson TX-4 a couple weeks ago . That bow was set at 60# pull . I have been shooting my backup bow which is a Parker EZ Draw set at 70# . What a difference ! I need to get my bow to a shop and the shop in Phelps was recommended but that is quite a trip . Not sure if Trader Point Archery in Henrietta is still in business . Bullseye Archery is another long haul . A small local archery shop had closed up a while ago so I have to make some calls and git 'r done .
