Great looking deer . Congrats !
-
Nice read . Better to have a miss than a bad hit . At least you had a shot . Better luck on your next outing .
-
I leave stands up year round but wouldn't leave a pull up string out in the weather . I wouldn't want to take a chance on the string breaking and my bow or whatever falling to the ground .
-
Congrats on your deer and tracking her down rather than just giving up ! Good job !
-
Use the phone not your walkie-talkie and it will probably work !

I don't see any pipes coming from the stand so I guess there is no flush toilet ...........
-
Gee -- after looking , maybe Gun Control and Politicians had something to do with a thread being moved since both are political .
-
Well , I didn't move the thread whatever it was ...............

Went back to Pittsford - Mendon stand this afternoon . Was in the stand by 3:30 . My oldest son showed up at 4 pm . Some people have to work . Stayed until 7 pm . Saw 1 doe and 7 (possibly bucks . There was a group of 5 bucks playing around in the field over 200 yards out . I did my best to get pics with my little Canon Powershot SX130 . Looked like 2 of the bucks were playing a pushing game . When I got in my car the temt was 47 degrees . It was quite windy as most of you know .

Sitting 16 feet up in a stand. WINDY! SOMETHING ran across the field over 100 yards away. Either a doe or a spike. . It's a bit nippy. Should have brought some Dramamine. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
If it doesn't work , re-read the Regulations Booklet . ...... just kidding !

It has been talked about here . It has been on the local news TV and Radio . It has been written about in the New York Outdoor NEWS . So , if someone hasn't heard about it , they must live under a rock .

Waiting to hear the first violation and the outcome ...... Should be some good BS answers from violators to the DEC ( if they are caught ) .

How to go Moog ! And with a recurve ! All that powerlifting paid off .......... -
Jaeger ----- Check the most recent edition of New York Outdoor News . There is an article on page 3 telling of errors in the Hunting Regulations publication . Even the DEC can't always get it right ! It doesn't hurt to ask questions !

Drove to my spot near the Pittsford - Mendon town line . I took my pole saw with me to the stand and snipped a few branches along the driveway . I was in the stand by 6:15 . Got everything ready then sat back and relaxed . It was a bit nippy but was hoping the cooling off would have the deer moving . At 7:10 I saw two bucks come out of a hedge row , cross the field and stop 50 yards from the opposite thick area . In a couple minutes they went into the thickets . One looke to be an 8 and the other was a 6 point . That was it . At 11 am , I decided to leave but cut some of the crap that was blocking shooting lanes . I may wait until tomorrow afternoon to go out again if my oldest son decides to hunt . Oh yeah , it was breezy and every once in a while a strong gust would come up . I really wanted to get a doe with my new " Moog String " !

1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes 1 green pepper cut up in small pcs 3 pounds of fried venison burger 1 package of McCorrimick chili mix 1 package of McCorrmick Hot chili mix 3 cans of chili beans Dump the two cans of tomatoes and the 3 cans of beans in a 5 quart crock pot . Cut up the pepper in very small pieces and toss it in the pot as well as a few of the seeds . Have crock pot on high . Put the burger in a large fry pan with a cover and fry until it looks done . Turn it over a few times to make sure all the burger is done . Put one package of chili mix in the crock pot when the ingredients are warm and mix . Drain the meat and mix the other package of chili mix in the burger . Stir it up then put the burger in the crock pot and mix everything . Periodically sample it to make sure it's okay . I have been doing this for years and when we have a pot luck dinner , I am usually asked to bring some chili .
