  1. I have the itch to get out there but it looks like we are going to be getting quite a few rainy days this week . It sucks to sit in the rain but sometimes it pays off .
  2. No , he didn't offer to advise me on that but mentioned that you had helped him out a lot . I was quite impressed with the knowledge that Moog has acquired in a few short years of bow hunting . It is nice to be able to practice shooting 20 yards in a basement ! Thanks for your advice also !
  3. My wife has been supportive of my deer hunting addiction . Maybe that's why we have been married for 53 years .
  4. Took my Ben Pearson TX-4 to Moog's home tonight . He replaced my string and cable with the one's I had and setup my bow for me . I took a few shots in his basement and will have to do some minor tweaking with the sight when I get a chance outdoors in the next couple days . Real nice guy and I was impressed with what he was able to do . Thanks a million Moog !
  5. I bought one at Beikirch's two years ago . Then they started allowing rifles in 8H and 8F where I hunt . Gotta re-sight it and use it .
  6. I don't care what he scores . He's an 8 pointer and a shooter .
  7. I enlarged the picture and still can't tell what the bobcat has ...........
  8. Some pics from my son's property in Italy Valley
  9. It doesn't cover just deer reporting . Fox , turkey , coyotes , etc ........
  10. That fawn was just like a little kid trying to get his picture taken .
  11. My oldest son checked out a two man stand that I use during gun season in Marion . He thought someone had trashed it until he got up close and realized a downed tree had taken it out . He said it was a real mess and the only thing worth saving was the ladder . One of the disadvantages of leaving them up all year long .
  12. You fill out the form "honestly" and trust the DEC to do the right thing with the information . Other animals are also tracked .
  13. I have been getting and submitting the Southern Zone Bowhunting Sighting Log for the past 15 or so years . You track hours in stand , site location , bucks , antlerless , turkey , red fox , gray fox , racoon , coyote and grouse . The DEC gave me patches for 5 & 10 year participation . Does anyone else get this ?
  14. Nothing great on any of my Geneseo trail cams but got pictures of these guys . They have been in the camera lock box a couple times before . The 1st time I saw them , they startled me . Now I expect to see them in there .
  15. Can't you see the "Sky Hook " in the picture ?
  16. I cut my own arrows and have also cut shafts for others . I made my own arrow saw for $26 and used some scrap lumber . https://youtu.be/1Ef9RsOnEXk
  17. A wisker biscuit works great and contains the arrow in the rest . I had one and loved it but wanted to shoot Quik Spins . The Quik Spin vanes have a tab that would get ripped off or interfere with the arrow flight . Guys used to argue that they slow the arrow down but tests showed it made a difference of about 3 fps which amounts to nothing . Wisker Biscuit rests are great .
  18. I prefer the mask to hide the glare from my face .
  19. I don't hunt from a tree stand unless I have a harness on .
  20. I went down to my friend's property in Walworth this am and moved my 15' ladder stand . Getting a bit old for this . Need to do some minimal pruning for shooting lanes but the stand is a lot more secluded than where I previously had it . I will do the trimming in the next couple of days . I plan to stay away from there the 1st two weeks of bow season .
