  1. Heading for Groveland then Geneseo in a short while . My sister is selling the house we grew up in and I am going to the wooded area to remove my ladderstand . Meeting my youngest son at Exit 9 on 390 so he will help . Plan to leave the stand at my sister in laws place in Geneseo and scout the area . Two of my sons plan to hunt the property with me this fall . I have a couple of trail cams in Geneseo so I should see some of the survivors of our harsh winter .
  2. Look in the cuff of your trousers .........
  3. I always put stuff in a SAFE place and then can't remember where it is ... I am sure you will find it in the last place you look for it ! Actually , quit looking and the damned thing will show up . Are you sure you didn't swallow it ?
  4. My sister Thelma ( Curly ) Dimmick succumbed to liver cancer last Sunday and her funeral was today in Livonia . She survived 4 operations on her head having tumors removed , etc . and finally passed away with Cancer of the Liver . No more pain .
  5. We see them a lot gliding in a wide circle over Furnace Road . I often think they are doing it over the Cemetery on Trimble Road . They look awesome gliding through the air but are butt ugly up close !
  6. Turkey Vultures ...that is . Five of them in a tree 2 houses down from my home . We see these birds quite often gliding through the air over the area .
  7. I for one missed the "present" part . If it's being used as a gift , buy the most expensive shooting sticks you can find .
  8. I made a Varmint Al Bi-Fur Pod set of shooting sticks and made a few modifications . The bolt that holds the sticks together has a wing nut . I used the sticky back fleece where the gun forearm rests on the sticks then drilled a hole and used a Hitch Clip to keep the sticks pinned when walking , They can be used as a walking and adjusted for different heights by spreading the legs (of the sticks) . I made them with a couple of 4' tomato stakes that have pointed ends . They cast me about $4 or $5 about 10 years ago . I take them every time I gun hunt . Steady and CHEAP . http://varmintal.com/abifu.htm
  9. I bet the insurance companies would want to keep elk and moose out of NYS . Having something like that popping out in the highway would be like hitting a horse !
  10. I recall reading not to have them facing East or West as the sun movement would trip the cameras . Weeds , limbs , anything moving will trip the cameras . I have also gotten activity and then nothing for a few days .
  11. The OP's post is about "ground hogs" ......He asked about ground hog land to hunt .
  12. Knock on some farmer's doors and ask permission . They would love to have someone shoot those varmints . You get your foot in the door and they may let you hunt deer , etc ..
  13. Anything I have read says that the heavier arrow will penetrate more than a lighter arrow . http://archeryreport.com/2011/03/arrow-penetration-testing-real-bows-real-arrows-real-results/
  14. We had ADT and I didn't think the price was bad .... $30 a month . Had it when the inlaws lived with us as they were in their 90's and if it got set off accidentally the police or Fire Dept would show up . I plan to have it hooked back up soon .
  15. Redneck Home Security How to install a redneck home security system: 1. Go to a second-hand store and buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work boots. 2. Place them on your front porch, along with several empty beer cans, a copy of Guns & Ammo magazine and several NRA magazines. 3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazines. 4. Leave a note on your door that reads: 'Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim, I went to the gun shop for more ammunition. Back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls -- they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad.I don't think Killer took part in it but it was hard to tell from all the blood. PS - I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside.' 5. INSTALLATION COMPLETE!
  16. I still have these --------- http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/21953-set-of-3-mossberg-20-ga-accu-chokes/
  17. Picked up the grandkids in Honeoye Falls and took them to church in Mendon . The church was packed probably due a lot of folks that go on Easter and Christmas . Had a real nice ham dinner with some delicious sides . Saw over 20 deer on route 42 on the way home . Also saw a bunch while driving to church this am . Glad the snow didn't stick .
  18. See you in Church ............
  19. TruBall slugs are manufactured by Federal . They are inexpensive and usually on sale at DICKs around deer season . They work fine . Even the cheap Federal Foster rifled slugs work fine out of a smooth bore barrel .
