I was practicing from my backyard tree stand tonight . By bending at the waist , I was right on at 20 yards . If you don't bend at the waist you hit higher . So , I shot at 30 yards without bending and was on target without adjusting the single pin sight . I wonder how I would fare hunting like this ......... Hmmmmmmm

John Bacon has a place in Lyons , NY where he collects the deer pee . It used to be sold in a lot of the DICKs stores but Corporate Policy forbid it . A few of the gun shops , etc sell North Country products and it gets stored in small refrigerators at those places . John has done a couple talks at the Local Sportsmens Dinners .

That's why I shop at Aldi's !

Well , in light of all the BS , It's a nice gesture by the Pizza Company to put something useful on their boxes .

I will get to a stand before sunrise and sit until close to noon . Then I will get down do some walking and get the circulation going and grab something to eat and drink from my vehicle . Then about 1 pm it's time to head for the evening stand to sit until close to dark . When I sit for a length of time I get groggy and want to nap . Gotta stand up and stretch . Of course if I get lucky and get a deer early am , this all changes !

My wife grows herbs in the garden . She cuts some down , puts them in small brown paper shopping bags to dry and then harvests the seeds , etc ..

If someone would burn a tree with a stand , I bet he would trash a tri-pod stand also .

Never heard of someone burning down a tree with a stand in it ...... Is this a joke ?

Here is our stand tester ...... 3 different stands

Met my oldest son at South Bristol this am along with my 9 yr old grandson . We put up 2 more regular and 1 more double stand on some property that we havn't hunted in over 3 years . That gives us 3 stands on one side and 4 stands on the other side of the gulley . I always like this property right on Canandaigua Lake . Sooooo we have two 2 man stands and 4 single stands to use . My son asked the guy on the adjacent property if we could have recovery rights if one was trailed to his property . The guy said that some gun hunters has ticked him off by trapsing all over his property last year and he was quite upset about it . Matt explained that we would be bow hunting and wouldn't be hunting "his property" . The guy was pretty cool about it .

Westchester , huh ...... I guess you would put a pillow to it's head then place the pistol barrel to the pillow and pull the trigger . That's what they do in the movies .

I thought 2 1/2# per turn was the answer but wasn't positive . I can shoot my 60# Ben Pearson but would like my 70# Parker as a backup . Thought I would drop the poundage on the Parker and work my way back up to 70# . I used to hunt with the Parker and like it but I had screwed up the sight and just replaced it . If worse comes to worse and I need a backup , I might buy the Simms DeadZone bow from my son as it hasn't sold .

Not sure what I would have done . The DEC guys are spread pretty thin so do you let it suffer for a few more hours or put it out of it's misery ? I think I would 1st try calling the DEC and ask if I could put it down and then see if I could keep the meat .

Got the 2014 Bowhunter Sighting Log in the mail from the DEC today . I have been doing this for several years and have a 5 year and 10 year patch . It's a fun thing to do .

I have a 2 string peep on one bow and a 3 string peep on another bow . The tube peep makes a noise when shooting and breaks at the most inconvenient time . The 3 string peep has to be set just right or one of the strings can block your view . The 2 string peep is probably the way to go .........

I have been shooting my Ben Pearson TX-4 60# bow in the back yard with no problem . I put a new single pin sight on my Parker Phoenix E-Z draw 70# bow and shot that today . What a difference 10# of draw makes for a 73 year old . Wow ! What is the estimated poundage change when backing off the limb bolts one complete turn ? At one time , I thought it was 2 1/2 lbs of draw weight .
