There is an East / West trail that the GV Hunt Club uses and I cut down a lot of the weeds to make that a possible shooting lane . It is North of the blind .

Doc --- I went back today to pretty much finish up so I can stay away for 3 weeks . Cleared out some more area . The brown circle is the camera 13 yards away . The green blob is 16 yards and the red blob is 21 yards . I chopped the tops off some of the weeds after taking the picture to make a larger shooting area .

My wife and I have been married for 52 years . No problem with hunting . She considers herself a widow from Oct 1 to the end of ML season . I told her that I would consider using one of out Timeshare weeks the beginning of November after having 4 weeks of Bow Season . It would be a break for me and make her happy . Will spend a week in The Poconos and hour away from Cabelas ......

My sister in law bought 69 acres several years ago . It took a few years for people to know that it wasn't open hunting on the land anymore . She wasn't afraid to tell anyone that her property was posted and that they were Tresspassing . Bubba hit the nail on the head ...... your troubles have just begun but in the end it will be worth the effort .

Wow , the Jersey Giants only lost by 21 points ........

No problem with my wife . Her dad got me started with deer hunting .

The only hunting show I enjoyed in the past couple years is the one with those clowns in New England that were shooting Urban Deer . It wasn't the plain old canned hunt show . They messed around with each other like some guys would do at camp .

I can move my flag from half mast now ! The Bills were doing well the 1st half and it looked like they were going to piss away the game .......... I still don't understand the Ref picking up the flag that was thrown for offensive holding but it was a rallying point for the Bills ! Same thing on a bad Pass interference call on the Bills . Chicago is Obama's home town and I bet he had something to do with those calls !

I havn't watched a hunting show in at least a year and that was the 1st in a long time . Too many commercials selling deer bait , etc .. You watched the kill and the guy has to explain what you just saw . Why ? I saw it ! And ..... of course the hunter continues to whisper after the deer is down . It's a rarity to see a guy shoot a doe on one of these shows . The hunter is tracking the deer he shot and all of a sudden he screams "there he is" but the camera man is on the other side of the deer taping as the hunter makes the find . Give me a break !

The one I installed doesn't have the fiberglass rods . It has double metal rods for support . I put a tarp on the floor and I have a section of 5'X5' carpet rolled up that I will unroll when I get into the stand . I bolted a wooden strip across the back legs and front legs so the legs wouldn't punch through and the chair can slide . I will probably use it for an afternoon stand as I would probably spook anything on the way to the stand in the morning darkness .

Hopefully what I opened up will give me a shot during bow season . It would probably be better during gun season when some of that crap gets knocked down .

Get a couple of reloading books ..... Lyman has some good ones . Read them thoroughly before starting . When you reload , you want quiet and no distractions .
-
Not to add insult to injury but it sure looks like Carnage ...... Hope you get it fixed or replaced soon .

At least the Bills are a New York Team unlike the Jersey Jets and Jersey Giants .................

Look who showed up for bow practice !

Maybe the deer wanted to see how good of a archer you are ........... -
My wife bought a 6' high platform stand with a hub blind for Christmas . I put the platform up over a month ago on the bank of a pond . Went to Geneseo today and installed the Hub Blind . Luckily I had my Thermacell with me . What a pain it was to open the blind up top side . I bough a blade for my weed trimmer and cut down some of the high weeds . They were about 5' high . Drove the ATV around a few times to knock down some of the weeds and then cut them also . I hope it turns out to be worth the effort .

I would think that it would be hell on arrow shafts .

I started doing some reloading a few years ago . Initially it is pricy to get started but worth the effort . Reloading equipment isn't cheap but it allows you to tweak your loads for individual calibers . A few years ago , it cost me $30+ for 20 rounds of 25-06 . I can reload for much less . Some people start out with a Turret press which isn't necessary unless you plan to mass produce your ammo . Myself , I deprime and size the brass and put it in a vibrator tumbler . Then I clean out the primer pocket and chamfer the other end . Prime the brass in another step , weigh the powder and pour it in the case . When I get 50 brass ready I load the bullet . Sometimes it's hard to get primers , powder or bullets . You don't see brass laying around at the range anymore so you make sure you save every bit that you have . Reloading is a commitment ..............There was a thread started on here several months ago . I am too lazy to look it up .

Thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes . Getting old sucks but ......... it sure beats the alternative . My wife supports my hunting but just the other day she asked how many more years I would continue to keep it up . I told her that as long as I could get up and down from a tree stand and draw my bow I would continue to hunt .
