  1. Here is our stand tester ...... 3 different stands
  2. Met my oldest son at South Bristol this am along with my 9 yr old grandson . We put up 2 more regular and 1 more double stand on some property that we havn't hunted in over 3 years . That gives us 3 stands on one side and 4 stands on the other side of the gulley . I always like this property right on Canandaigua Lake . Sooooo we have two 2 man stands and 4 single stands to use . My son asked the guy on the adjacent property if we could have recovery rights if one was trailed to his property . The guy said that some gun hunters has ticked him off by trapsing all over his property last year and he was quite upset about it . Matt explained that we would be bow hunting and wouldn't be hunting "his property" . The guy was pretty cool about it .
  3. Westchester , huh ...... I guess you would put a pillow to it's head then place the pistol barrel to the pillow and pull the trigger . That's what they do in the movies .
  4. Sheesh ........ Did you hang the camera upside down ?
  5. Great looking bucks . Thanks for posting !
  6. I thought 2 1/2# per turn was the answer but wasn't positive . I can shoot my 60# Ben Pearson but would like my 70# Parker as a backup . Thought I would drop the poundage on the Parker and work my way back up to 70# . I used to hunt with the Parker and like it but I had screwed up the sight and just replaced it . If worse comes to worse and I need a backup , I might buy the Simms DeadZone bow from my son as it hasn't sold .
  7. Not sure what I would have done . The DEC guys are spread pretty thin so do you let it suffer for a few more hours or put it out of it's misery ? I think I would 1st try calling the DEC and ask if I could put it down and then see if I could keep the meat .
  8. Pat , Welcome to Hunting NY ............
  9. Got the 2014 Bowhunter Sighting Log in the mail from the DEC today . I have been doing this for several years and have a 5 year and 10 year patch . It's a fun thing to do .
  10. I have a 2 string peep on one bow and a 3 string peep on another bow . The tube peep makes a noise when shooting and breaks at the most inconvenient time . The 3 string peep has to be set just right or one of the strings can block your view . The 2 string peep is probably the way to go .........
  11. I have been shooting my Ben Pearson TX-4 60# bow in the back yard with no problem . I put a new single pin sight on my Parker Phoenix E-Z draw 70# bow and shot that today . What a difference 10# of draw makes for a 73 year old . Wow ! What is the estimated poundage change when backing off the limb bolts one complete turn ? At one time , I thought it was 2 1/2 lbs of draw weight .
  12. I fletch mine with 2 purple and i white Quick Spin vanes ..........no special reason . I just bought another pack of 100 purple vanes on ebay because I couldn't find them anywhere else .
  13. Good info ...... I would add a - primer pocket uniformer tool . It cleans out and squares the shoulders of the pocket .
  14. It might be helpful to someone who is trying to get started with reloading . As the ammo prices keep climbing , I would bet that more people will try their hand at reloading .
  15. I have one more lane where I can shoot a bit south east . I chopped the tops of the weeds there as I didn't want to make a path to the stand . Now , I just hope it works out . It would probably be a better Gun stand because when some shooting starts the deer sometimes use the horse trail to escape from one property to another . It would have been nice to have had access to a brush hog instead of doing it by a Grunt .......... !
  16. There is an East / West trail that the GV Hunt Club uses and I cut down a lot of the weeds to make that a possible shooting lane . It is North of the blind .
  17. Doc --- I went back today to pretty much finish up so I can stay away for 3 weeks . Cleared out some more area . The brown circle is the camera 13 yards away . The green blob is 16 yards and the red blob is 21 yards . I chopped the tops off some of the weeds after taking the picture to make a larger shooting area .
  18. My wife and I have been married for 52 years . No problem with hunting . She considers herself a widow from Oct 1 to the end of ML season . I told her that I would consider using one of out Timeshare weeks the beginning of November after having 4 weeks of Bow Season . It would be a break for me and make her happy . Will spend a week in The Poconos and hour away from Cabelas ......
  19. http://goodmenprojec...ter 07/16/2014) Good article Mr VJP

    Hello

    Welcome to Hunting NY .............
  21. Checked out the cam today and saw these pics
  22. My sister in law bought 69 acres several years ago . It took a few years for people to know that it wasn't open hunting on the land anymore . She wasn't afraid to tell anyone that her property was posted and that they were Tresspassing . Bubba hit the nail on the head ...... your troubles have just begun but in the end it will be worth the effort .
