Heading for Geneseo again tomorrow am . Taking the 2 man chair blind and going to try hunting the thick stuff . It's about 1 3/4 mile walk so if I get lucky , it will be a long drag . I have my trailer at the property but my ATV is out back . Oops ! I will be bringing the trailer back with me . While doing some walking , I found where I can place a stand next year but a lot of trimming has to be done . Re-evaluating the past 2 seasons , I need to find a different property / properties . The Geneseo property has been good to me over the years but not the past two .

I have seen deer in the village of Webster also . Saw a nice buck near Webster Ponds standing in the road . Used to see deer by Xerox north of Orchard St between Phillips and Rt 250 . They know where they are safe !

I caught the 782 year old hunter too .......... I bought one of the Neoprene face masks that keep the face warm but I get claustrophobic and can't stand to wear it . I take coumadin ( blood thinner ) and cannot take the cold like I used to . I sometimes take a sleeping bag with me , put it around my shoulders and pull the ends together . That way I can stay out for a much longer time . Like Belo said , a blind with a heater . Dicks sells a Coleman Catalytic heater for $25 that use the 2# propane bottle . They are great in 20 degree weather .

Happy Birthday --- Have a Great Day !

Congrats on your deer !

Saw a dead doe on Rt 104 just west of Salt Road in Webster . Don't the deer know they are supposed to be in the woods !
-
I would love to have your problem !

Sat in the 2 man chair blind from noon until 4:20 . Never saw a thing . Heard 3 shots way off in the distance in the afternoon . Either no one was hunting or else not seeing anything . Running out of time .

Maybe they had a Death Wish !

Trying to be pro-active and purchased another 7 cu ft freezer the other day at Lowes . It was delivered this morning . Now all I need is a deer to put in it ! Will be coming home after 8:30 Mass tomorrow , change clothes and head for Geneseo . I have had great luck on that property over the years but the last 2 years havn't been good at all . I'm making a big sacrifice as my team plays at 4:05 and I will miss the 1st half . That's what recorders are for ........

I have had them come back for more pics with a Red Flash . Same with the Black Flash . I wonder if it's the noise that they are curious about ........

A few of the members swear by the Covert Cameras and think they are the greatest . Black Flash is supposed to be the thing now .

I have some old Wild View cameras ..... they are junk Two Stealth cams that no longer work ...... A Moultrie I-40 camera that won't work . I sent an e-mail to Moultrie and never heard from them . I have 3 of the Primos Blackouts ... they work well , a Truth Cam ultra that works fair , a Moultrie GameSpy I-35 that woks great , a Moultrie D338s that I havn't used yet and a couple others . Except for the I-40 camera , the moultries have been the best .

I was going to set a camera out to see if I could get a pic of tresspassers but it wouldn't be too smart with the snow on the ground . They would see my prints .
-
Vince are you hunting somewhere there isn't snow on the ground ?

The deer still aren't cooperating ! Was at my blind in Geneseo this am . Had to knock off a lot of snow and reinforce the tie downs . Sat until almost 11 am and never saw a thing . Starting around 9 am I heard a single shot and 3 minutes later another . This went on for at least 10 shots . I wonder if someone was sighting in their gun . Took a walk to the pond field and back . Saw some human tracks where someone had come onto the property right where the posted signs were placed . Saw another spot where some tresspasser had come onto the property and walked around . They were probably hunting the property while my SIL came to our house for Thanksgiving Dinner . Got up to my car around 1 pm and had worked up a sweat . I was going to go back out but figured with the damp clothes with sweat , I would get the chills and left for the day . I thought there would be several hunters out today but if there was , I didn't see any and other than the goofy shooting , I only heard 3 distant shots .

My SIL has Muck Boots that she wears in the winter taking care of her horses . She says they are quite warm but starting to leak but then she has had them for years . Anyway , Tractor Supply has some Muck Boots on sale now for $70 that are regularly $100 . 5 mm of Neoprene for comfort and warmth and a mesh lining to reduce moisture . On sale Nov 27 - Dec 1 .

I have a pair of Itasca camo rubber boots with 400 gr of Thinsolate . My feet freeze in those things but they are comfortable in warmer weather . They are starting to crack . I also have a pair of waterproof , insulated Rocky boots that ARE NOT WATERPROOF ! My wife bought me a pair of LaCrosse hunting boots at Galyans in Henrietta several years ago . They are insulated and have a thick Thinsolate liner . I call them my "Herman Munster" boots as they are thick and clumsy but they are warm . They are the warmest boots I have . I have walked through 6" of water and they have been fine ( knock on wood ) .
