  1. It helps cut down the reflection coming off of your face .
  2. Not the right way to do it but it works for me . I have a single pin sight . I use the pin at 20 yards and under . At 30 yards , I aim a bit low on the deer's back . From a treestand , I bend at the waist at 20 yards and under . At 30 yards , I drop my bow arm while using the same pin and hit what I am aiming at . It works for me . Now all I need is a deer to shoot at to make sure it works .
  3. I use Python Locks on my Primos cameras . Those cameras have a 5/16" channel that the cable fits into and then I put a small lock to secure the door for the card and settings . If the tree you put the camera on isn't huge , you can put the Python cable around the tree and then run it around a 2nd time and hold the door shut ( which is more secure ) . The Python locks are pricy and sometimes you can get them keyed alike .
  4. When shooting from a treestand , you aim like you would on the ground but bend at the waist and put the pin on the deer while keeping your bow arm straight . When shooting uphill , you do the same but bend the opposite way .
  5. Another bummer of a day in the Great Outdoors . Arrived in Geneseo early this am and got into my stand . Forgot my HSS harness but had a backup harness in my back-pack . At 7:10 am I saw 3 anterless deer cross the large field and go to the neighbor's property . Nothing else all morning . Got down at 10:30 after trimming some limbs to open some more shooting lanes . Went to another stand and did the same . Left the property and got something to eat . Went to an ex HS classmate's home and went over some address' and phone numbers to arrange a School Reunion for next summer . Got back to the property and was in a different stand overlooking a pond , cat tails , etc with my back to the field . Nuttin ! At 6:25 I started packing up my gear , looked up the field and saw a doe about 250 yards away .Got down out of the stand and saw movement way over toward the neighbor's side of the field and got out the binos . It was getting dark but I counted 7 deer . Couldn't make out any horns . Where the hell did they hide all day ! Oh well ........... Oh , and after I left , I saw 3 doe next to the road 1/2 mile away .
  6. Nice going Fletch . Glad you cashed in on some venison !
  7. Getting ready to head out to Geneseo to sit out in some 42 degree weather . Brrrrrrrrrrrr !
  8. Welcome to Hunting NY ............
  9. I agree . Some of it is just plain luck like being in the right tree stand at the right time . I watched deer go by one of my stands when I was about 250 yards away . If I had been in that stand , I would have had a shot . As "luck" would have it , I wasn't . I ate all my tags last year for the 1st time in many years but I still enjoyed being out in nature .
  10. Just get out there and hunt and while you're at it , get a new girl friend ......
  11. Set up a Black-Flash Trail Cam overlooking that specific area / spot and get pics of them . Make sure the camera is locked and well hidden .
  12. Well , today wasn't a complete waste . I drove to my friend's property on County Line Road in Walworth . There was a dead roadkill doe about15 feet from his driveway entrance . My friend was getting ready for work and I let him know about the deer and he dragged it out of the road . I was in the stand by 6:40 and it was quiet out there . At 8:20 I saw some movement through the trees and it was two young does making their way through . A couple of times they were around 25 yards away but there was too much brush in the way to get a shot . I was tempted to try but I didn't let the desperation get the best of me . At least I had a couple near the stand .
  13. I have a 10 mile ride to take in a few minutes . Being optimistic and taking the trailer with me .
  14. Yeah , I am heading out in a few minutes to sit in the cold ...........
  15. I don't believe in Sunday Hunting . Sundays are sacred . Sundays are for FOOTBALL !
  16. Uhhhh , that should be Deere . The farmer harvested the beans in the field I hunt near in Geneseo and the deer showed up that night .
  17. I'd probably have better luck hunting along Rt 104 between Ontario and Bay Rd Exit in Webster . A fair amount of Road Kill there .
  18. From the trail cam pics ( oops ! shouldn't mention that ) , the deer seem to travel in cycles . Actually , I should wait until Tuesday am for them to return .
  19. I might try Walworth in the am . No sense in driving to Geneseo just to hunt the am .
  20. Looks like a lot of rain in the afternoon ........ http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/walworth-ny/14568/hourly-weather-forecast/2146101?hour=33
