Nice pics .... That's funny !

I used to hunt on Gibsonville Road by Pine Tavern when I 1st started hunting with my FIL . We would hear shooting before 6:30 and he say , "it's those damned Perry boys" ! That was back in the 60's . started hunting my SILs property around 1990 and we would hear a lot of shooting before legal time . Vehicles used to park on Country Club Road in Geneseo and walk in the back way . Always had tresspassers ...........Someone finally stopped them from parking on their property and there hasn't been many hunters around since . I used to keep my shotgun unloaded until legal time and pray that nothing came by until later so I wouldn't have to fight the temptation !

You need the tires balanced properly . It's no longer a simple job to mount them as each tire has to be programmed correctly as the computer keeps track of each tire pressure and if that isn't done correctly the system will be telling you the wrong tire . It's no longer a simple deal of slapping on some tires and adding some weight for balance . The garage told me that the price had gone up because they can no longer use lead weights . WTH !

I think it was Tire Rack that I bought my tires from for my Subaru . They were Hancooks and had a great Consumer Reports rating . I don't think they charged tax . It cost me almost $80 to tave them mounted and balanced .

I went to my son'd stand in Pittsford this am . Was all set just after 6 am . Sat back and relaxed in the cold air . My oldest son wasn't hunting but came down and walked the thick stuff around 9 am to see if he could push anything to me . Nothing ! There were some Goose hunters about 300 yards south of me . Heard a few shots from their direction . Around 10 am , my son came to the stand and we removed his stands as we don't gun hunt there . We have permission to Bow Hunt that particular section . It was overcast and rain was forecasted for the afternoon so I went home . It has been raining for a few hours so far . Don't know if I will get back out to bow hunt again during the remainder of the archery season unless it's at my friend's property in Walworth and that would have to be evenings . Almost forgot . On the way down the trail , it is fairly steep . There was frost on the wet grass . I slipped and fell face 1st down the hill . Got my bow out in front of me so I wouldn't land on it . Glad no one was there to see the spectacle !

Happy 238th Birthday !

Went to a stand in Pittsford this am . It was cold ! Saw a buck through some thick brush but he didn't come my way . Also saw a smaller buck and a anterless but didn't get a shot . At least I saw something . The corn is still up by the field near the stand but was cut the other side of the powerlines yesterday . Knocked off around 10 am as the wind was picking up and it looked like it was going to rain . Rain had been forecasted for 9 am but just got a little bit of Gropple . Might give it one more try Monday but the weather doesn't look too great for that day .

I have never hunted bear and wouldn't care to be close enough to shoot one . My son owns property in Italy Valley between Potter and Naples near Camp Koininea (sp) and had bear on his property . He had pics of some bear on a Trail Cam a few years ago . Also had some tear apart some hay bale targets probably looking for mice / insects . Then they tore up some fencing and got his peaches .

Property is posted but folks still show up . We bow hunt the property and others are bird hunters yet this Dumb Ass feels it's okay to jog on the property .

I bought most of my reloading dies , etc from Midway . I think their shipping costs are a bit high though .

I have a single pin slider sight . It is set at 20 yards . It was dead on at both 10 and 20 yards in the back yard but at a lesser angle and only shooting at a 10 foot height . At other spots that I hunt , I usually shoot a couple of practice arrows before getting down and it has been spot on . I rushed the shot so I could take it before the doe was no longer in the clearing . I agree that a clean miss is better than a bad hit and just wounding a deer. Thanks all .........

Get a good reloading book like Lyman's and read it before making the jump . I started reloading a few years ago . Started out with 223 and 7-30 waters . Then went to 25-06 , 270 , 44 mag and 357 . I bought some reloading equipment cheap back when the "Swap Sheet" was around then added to it as it became necessary . Once you have the tools , you add the components and git 'r done . You can tweak your loads for the gun you plan to shoot with . If you can get the components you need , you will find yourself shooting more Once you start reloading , do it without any outside interference ( no TV , no Radio , no Phone ) so as not to be disturbed . If you don't want to do all this , buy your ammo .

All the crying and whining I have done this season about no deer being close or not getting a shot was blown this am . I drove to Pittsford and used my youngest son's stand .At 7:15 I spotted a doe behind me . She was downwind from me and traveled through the trees rather quickly . There was a second doe behind her walking slower . When she hit the opening , I drew and released my arrow and thought I had hit her . She moved off and just stood there . The 1st doe came back to her and they hauled butt . I waited 1/2 hour , got down and looked for my arrow . It was stuck in the ground . Mothing on it but dirt . A complete miss ! The stand is a 15' stand and another 5' higher than the ground I was shooting at so about 20' up and a 33 degree angle at an actual 12 yards . Should have been a chip shot ! Did I drop my bow arm ? Did I not bend at the waste ? I don't know . It was instantanious ..... I shot a couple practice arrows and noticed that the arrow jumped off the rest and next to the riser . It's a Trophy Ridge drop away and I wonder if the steep angle causes that . Didn't have any problems when I was practicing in the back yard this summer . Anyway , I am quite disappointed with myself !!!
