  1. Except for one pic , the big guy seems to prefer night time
  2. What has happened in the past 20-30 years ? Camera and stands being stolen in the woods . Years ago you could leave the keys in the car with the windows down and it was safe . You were able to leave the garage door open with no worry about theft . Now , even if things are locked up , they aren't safe !
  3. Trail cams are fun . I take a regular camera along when I hunt and enjoy taking pics . Trail cams show what other activity is going on in the area ( tresspassers , etc ) . The horses , riders are okay for fox hunting but the ATV has a couple of tresspassers on it . The cat in the pic is a long way from any dwelling and the riders in the last pic don't belong there .
  4. I stopped at the Post Office . The gal there said the harness could be shipped in one of their Ty-vec bags and would make the trip for about $6.50 . I took a harness with me so she could check the weight . A couple harness' would fit in one of their if it fits , it ships Flate Rate boxes for about $12.50 .
  5. I make sure I have my "4-wheeler" tuned up before the hunting season and then test it out
  6. We humans have progressed with our hunting techniques and the deer have progressed also . I remember when I first started hunting from a treestand the deer never looked up . They have evolved and we need to keep a step ahead of them . We are hunting smarter than they did years ago . As for the video , I watched part of it and skipped over quite a bit . I thought the shooter was a jerk !
  7. Woodchuck --- I'll give you a 2 thumbs up on that !
  8. They don't seem to be camera shy either ........
  9. Camera is near where the deer jump the fence by a wild apple tree
  10. That's right . Move the sight not the rest . If you start moving the rest you could have clearance problems .
  11. What a ham ! He shot the deer , it ran off , why is he whispering ? I was told by a DEC guy one time that if you hunted over an apple tree it was okay but if you piled up those apples you were baiting .
  12. Shipping costs would probably be outrageous . I will check at the post office and see what it would cost and pm you . I am talking about the full harness that comes with the stands . If you need a ladder stand , why not just buy one and you would get a harness with it . Just a thought .
  13. I had planned on heading back to Geneseo tomorrow but heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecasted . Darn the weather !
  14. Here are pics of the stand and the area
  15. I really don't care what he scores . I couldn't think of a better Topic to post . I want to see that bad boy in broad daylight !
  16. If she was told to "haul ass" , she'd have to make 3 trips !
  17. Hope you recover the deer ..... keep at it .
  18. The old guy who has a Mower Repair shop had a box of 22's on the counter . I asked"why the ammo" and he said , "didn't you see the sign" ? He had that same sign on the wall . Funny
  19. He came to the camera on several occasions so he wasn't spooked ........ more of a show off .
  20. Hunted in Geneseo this am . Was set-up in the stand by 6:20 am . Deer have been hitting an apple tree near a pasture lot fence and it was 35 yards from the stand I was in . Didn't see a thing . It raine lightly around 7 am and then came down pretty good around 8 . I had taken an old umbrella with me . I wedged it between the croch in the tree and kept from getting soaked . It had some holes and occasionally I would get some water . Left the stand at 10:30 and checked 2 trail cams . Went to my car , got something to eat , used the john and went to another stand about 700 yards from the morning stand . I should have been in that stand in the am but would have gotten soaked . There was a doe about 12 yards from the stand at 11:08 am and I checked the camera at 2:45 pm before climbing into the stand . That camera is still one day ahead . The pics attached are 10/05/13 not 10/06/13 . It started raining again at 6:15 so I gathered my gear and started the long walk back . As I got near the am stand I looked up the field and 2 bucks were standing about 120 yards away . The smaller one bolted after a couple minutes and they jumped the fence into the pasture lot . I headed East on Lima road and about 1/2 mile from where I had parked a doe ran across the road in front of me . Then another 1/2 mile and 3 doe were standing in the ditch waiting to cross but ran into the corn field .
  21. I use AccuWeather --- It shows East then ENE for the area I will hunt . Should be okay except for the rain forecast .
