  1. Opening am in Honeoye Falls , saw 2 doe , 2 fawns and a spike . Nothing close enough to shoot .Went to Mendon in the afternoon and saw nothing . Yesterday afternoon I returned to Mendon . Saw 2 bucks . The guy we share stands with shot a big bodied 7 point . It had a huge lump off the side of its neck . That looked nasty but I doubt it would affect the meat . My youngest son was with me . We helped the guy get it back to his truck and loaded up . Today I Put my mower deck back on the mower that I had repaired and mowed the yard and then used the lawn sweeper . Went to Walworth and sat in a stand for 3 hours . Heard a loud crash that was probably a widow maker falling and saw 3 deer run from that area . Not sure what they were . Taking tomorrow off to regroup .
  2. Get out the pole saw and trim it . The trees in the background don't look very bushy so I am guessing the this tree might be unique in the area and gives some cover . Trim some shooting lanes but leave the rest of the tree alone . What makes you think that the next time the deer won't walk between you and that tree ?
  3. Saw 2 doe , 2 fawns and a spike on my son's property this am . They were all over 100 yards away . Spent 3 hours in a treestand on W Bloomfield road this afternoon and didn't see a thing .
  4. I have taken deer in warmer weather with Nuisance Permits ..... Not a big deal with the heat as long as you are in the shade .
  5. Well , it's good to know that the DEC responded to a call about the neighbor's dog barking or whatever ...........
  6. I always have trouble getting to sleep the night before the Bow opener . Usually , I can doze right off but the thought of shoving off for a bow hunt in the am is too much ! I plan on getting up by 4 am ......
  7. I bought a MacKenzi Swamp Buck this past spring . I have been using it for a week and the kill zone is toast . They don't hold up very well !
  8. Tomorrow am I will be hunting in a ground blind in Honeoye Falls , NY . Fog is forecasted from 5 am - 11am . Depending on how thick it is , how much does fog affect deer movement ?
  9. You guys have me scared ! I have to get up on the roof today and fix some flashing . Won't have time for it after Bow Season starts .
  10. As for me , Tuesdays are just another weekend day . I told the guy I work part time for not to schedule anything for me .............
  11. Not finding a spent shell casing is bull-crap . I always pick mine up and toss them in the trash as I consider it littering to leave them on the ground . From what you said , it sure sounds like they needed a conviction .
  12. I have passed on many small bucks and ended up eating Tag Soup . I do draw on deer that I don't plan to shoot just to see if I can do it without being busted .
  13. Wheelman ----- That's a two thumbs up ! Nice going .....
  14. Congrats ..... don't lay that camo job down in the woods or you might not be able to find it ....
  15. Mine is in the front yard about 50 feet from the center of the street ..........
  16. I have hunted a couple spots in Walworth but have never gotten a shot at any deer there . I have a Trail Cam set up on a friend's property but between his son riding the ATV and some tresspassers , I have only seen 3 doe on the camera in a week's time and all were on the same day on 2 different cameras .
  17. As far as I know , they use the data that is submitted . Why the heck would someone want to lie about the numbers ?
  18. Belo , they send the sighting logs to us Elite hunters to fill out . This is the 15th year they have been doing this . Last year state-wide , there were 3527 participants that hunted 179,372 hours .
  19. I have been participating for about 13 years . They sent me a couple of patches in the past few years .
  20. I have had one for a few years . They are really handy and easily adjustable . I store it in an old Bino case . They don't take up much room and would be a handy item at camp . Another useful item is a string splitter for installing peeps .
