What a monster !

I would like be able to say something like , yeah I got a deer but it was only a 12 point that score just over 170 and only weighed 220 pounds field dressed . Yeah , what a disappointment !

It's a terrible shame that someone has to die because some Dumb Ass can't follow the rules / law . A whole family is affected when something like this happens . No doubt the shooter will get off easy , as usual !

I still use the Knight & Hale Fresh Earth body wash for a cover scent .....

My sons that hunt wear the UA and have never mentioned any smell . Both are meticulous about showering and taking care of their hunting clothes . They both swear by the UA clothing not at it .

I have several of the "Fresh Earth" scent wafers that I have in my backpack and also in the totes that I keep my hunting clothes / gear in . I had an apple in my backpack for several days . I bit into it and it tasted like what the Fresh earth smells like . Yuk !

I moved the stand for my 40 year old kid !

A friend of mine used to pour coffee from his thermos into a 20 ounce coke bottle . When he got to his stand and started feeling cold he would put the coffee bottle under his jacket and by his kidneys .When he finished the coffee from the pop bottle , he would pee into the bottle and again place the warm bottle against his kidneys . I could never bring myself to do that !

I hope they catch the thieving bastards ! My wife had me stop at Best Buy in Henrietta last night to pick up a DVD for our Grandson . I was leery about leaving my car in the parking lot with the ATV on the trailer . I thought someone might put 2 and 2 together and figure there were guns in the car but stopped and everything was okay . I have gotten paranoid after having some items stolen from the garage . Plus , Sheriff York had guns taken from his vehicle in broad daylight . You used to be able to leave your car unlocked with the windows down , etc .. Not anymore . Let us know the outcome !

That's a problem with these kinds of hunters . They have no respect for anyone's property rights . Hiding the back tag is an indication that he knew he was doing something wrong . Congrats on your deer .

Left for Geneseo at 5 am and arrived at 6 am . Got situated in the treestand and relaxed . Didn't see a blessed thing while there . Heard 3 individual shots from different directions . The only shots I had heard all day long . At 10:30 I walked to the woods . As I left the overgrown field and got about 30 yards into the woods I saw 4 white tails hauling butt . I walked back to my stand that my son shot a doe from opening day . Saw a hunter walking across the back of the woods so I sat in the stand for 1/2 hour got down and started to drag my son's ladder stand out . I got about 100 yards and spotted 2 doe moving fast from the overgrown field across the woods . They didn't offer a shot so I kept going . Left the stand at the edge of the woods and walked back to get my ATV which was almost 3/4 mile away . Took down a chain-on that I had installed Saturday and put it up in the woods where I had an old crappy stand . Tied the ladder stand to the ATV and took it back to the tree where I had removed the chain-on . With the ladder stand I was able to have it face the North toward the pond and cattails . Sat in that stand in the afternoon and saw nothing . My back was killing me and I couldn't get comfortable sitting in the stand . I gave up at 4:15 . I'll be back at it Wednesday but it looks like a rainy morning so my youngest son and I will maybe just hunt the afternoon . I am whipped and feeling my age !

yes ---- 44 mag . It's 35 degrees here in Ontario and almost the same in Geneseo . I am leaving in a few minutes to give it another try . I hope the deer aren't hunkered down and scared from the shooting from the past 2 days . I hate sitting out in a cold windy treestand !

I thought I had a dental appointment late tomorrow morning but it's the following Monday so I plan to head for Geneseo again . The forecast shows rain around 11 am and then again around 3 pm . I will take a Tent Blind with me and extra Flo Orange marking tape to hang on the blind . If I don't score in the am , I will head for the woods , pick up my son's ladder stand and place it in another spot . Here are pics of the my old stand that my son shot shot his doe from as well as some of the woods ...........

I have a Bushnell Sportview 1.5 X 4.5 on my NEF Huntsman and never had a problem .

I have seen gadgets at Dick's & GM that have a wrist remote and a unit you place on the ground / whatever that makes 5 different deer sounds .

My oldest son got to the property before I did and headed for the woods . He had about 3 times the distance to go than I had . I got settled in the stand by 6 am .Sat back and relaxed . I heard the 1st shot at 6:45 . I had a nice doe go by at 6:50 and then a yearling a few minutes later . Legal time wasn't until almost 7:10 . Around 8:30 I heard some shots from the woods and my son called and said he had a doe down across the ditch and she was behind a log . He was waiting for her to expire or get up so he could finish her off which he did shortly thereafter . It was a big doe . I waited about an hour and took the sled down to him . He had made a makeshift bridge and we got the deer across without spilling her in the water or us getting soaked . I walked back up to my vehicle and got my ATV and drove back down to get the deer . I dropped a chain-on near the stand I used as that stand was an older model and I didn't like it . Got his deer and then I put up the new chain-on , trimmed some limbs and went up to the car to grab a sandwich and some water . Sat in the new stand at 1 pm . Wasn't seeing anything . Really bored . Around 3:30 I heard shots west of me and a few minutes later 2 doe were leaping through the cat tails . My son met me at 4:30 and we headed to the ATV . Saw 3 doe in the field west of where I had parked the ATV . We called it a day !

Why not just tell the DEC what happened . Sometimes the TRUTH works . The guy never should have shot that late . I would have been leery about getting down from the stand also .

the 1st shot I heard was at 6:45 . Plenty of light then . I had a nice doe and a yearling doe behind my stand at 6:55 but didn't shoot . The only deer I saw this am .

i'll be leaving here at 4:30 to head for Geneseo . Shouldn't be much traffic on the road .

Got back from the Wake and loaded up the ATV . I thought I would take an extra Chain-on along and took a box out of the shed . Crap , I had to assemble the darned thing . Pretty much set and time to head for bed ....................
