On the upside , I did a Stress Test at the Cardiologist's today and passed with flying colors . I weighed 22 pounds less than I did at last year's rest .

The November 4 issue of New York Outdoor News states that the DEC Ok'ed the Whitetail Proposal . The only thing up in the air is the "Youth Hunt" .

I had to go to Henrietta today so I went to Gander Mt to buy a sleeping bag that they had on sale ( from $99.99 to $49.99 ) . They only had 2 left . Gander Mt honored my $10 DICK's coupon but I was short $ .01 to make a $50 purchase and had to but a damn candy bar in order to meet their demands . I told the girl that DICKs didn't mess with the $ .01 difference and she said "we aren't Dicks" ! I still got a good deal .

This is the Final Installment on a disappointing season . Between yesterday am & pm , I was in the stand for over 8 hours and saw nothing . Heard 4 shots all day long . Nothing close . I hunted on West Bloomfield where I had gotten a buck during archery season this year and had taken a couple deer from that stand in the past . It was pretty nippy in the am but I survived . Glad the season is over as I am kinda sick of the cold wind blowing in my face . Never saw a thing all day , not even when driving to or away from the area . I'm just thankful that I have at least one in the freezer !

That's right . The smart ones live longer !

I have a NEF 50 cal Huntsman . No stainless . It serves the purpose when I have something to shoot at . It cost me a whopping $135 about 7 years ago . I am also partial to the New england firearms . I picked up a Traditions Renegade with a fluted barrel for my son . It's a beautiful in-line but I can't get it to shoot consistant !

I am only 1 mile from the Rod and Gun club . I stop over and fire it into the berm .

I would bet different game wardens would have different opinions on the question .

Gonna give the spot where I shot my bow buck in October another look tomorrow . My son said he had stopped by to scout the area and had 2 small bucks and 3 doe run jaunt across one of the fields . Last day of the season for me so I am hoping for the best . We usually bow hunt that area and then don't hunt it during regular gun season as a guy , his wife & kid hunt then . Kind of a working agreement and we share the stands .

A dash of Peppercorn seasoning gives it a little bite !

I have a camo heavy hunting jacket with plenty of pockets . I wear an oversize blaze orange vest over it for safety . I wear an initial polyester shirt with a polyester thermal shirt over hat and then a Under Armor fleece 1/4 zip over that . I stay pretty dry when walking / stalking . The problem I have is the jacket doesn't breath and the lining gets damp / wet which kinda defeats the use of the polyester moisture wicking of the layers . Any suggestion for a jacket that will stay dry ?

A couple of the guys at the DICKs store in Webster have worked the Lodge for several years and know what is going on . I havn't had any problem getting help in that store .

They have sales every week . Many are repeats and should be a standard price . Love the DICK's store . I expect to receive some Gift Cards for DICK s for Christmas . I also have a certificate for $30 for previous purchases made .

Well ..... another failed weekend . I hunted Groveland Friday am and didn't see a thing . It was cccccccold and windy . Walked the small woods . Never heard any shooting . Went up to the house and took an hour nap and headed gor Geneseo to get something to eat . Went to my SILs for the afternoon . At about 4:20 I decided to call it quits as I only had 18 more minutes of legal shooting time . Got out and saw a fawn in the lower pasture lot . Scanned the area and saw a doe . She was alert and was looking my way . Probably heard the zipper on the tent blind or maybe my teeth chattering . I had nothing to rest on but took a shot and missed . Paced it off at 160 paces or about 120 yards (short legs) . I checked all over , back and forth and there was no sign of blood and it didn't appear to be hit when I shot . I attributed the miss to cold and shakey . Stayed overnight in Groveland . Got up at 5 and it felt good to get the extra hour sleep . There was a bit of snow on the ground . Was in the blind in Geneseo by 6:15 and stayed there until 10 . Walked down through the pond field about 400 yards and nuttin' . I heard 2 shot all morning . Went up to my SIL's and rewired a couple outlets in her barn and repaired the toilet tank in the bathroom in the Tack Room . Went back to the blind while checking the gulley again . I was frozen and at 4:15 decided to call it a day . Walked down to the laneway 1st to check it out before leaving . You'd think with all the time I have put in that I would have been more productive ! I used to be able to handle the cold better in my younger years !

You might want to offer the cop who hunts an opportunity to hunt your property . Nothing like having your place patrolled !
