This morning sucked . I was in a blind in Walworth by 6 am . Sat back and relaxed . Had the window facing south open and the ones East & West just enough to peek out of . I had my face net on so there wouldn't be any glare . About 8:30 I heard some bird noises and didn't see anything . Then all of a sudden there is a Jake walking past the blind at no more than 6' . If it had still been Turkey Season I wouldn't have been able to shoot him as I he was so close I could only see his head and neck . And to top it off I didn't have a camera with me but thought I could have taken a pic with the phone . Oh well . Anyway , I left there around 10:30 . I probably won't bow hunt again until Wednesday in Geneseo .

I started gun hunting in 1965 and bow hunting about 2004 . I did not recover 2 doe while gun hunting in Geneseo . One of them made it to the corn field and 3 of us were looking for it . The other had blood pouring out of her and ran into the swampy area . I was walking in water over the top of my boots and figured if she went down , she probably drowned . Hit 2 bucks in South Bristol in a 5 year period . Tracked them into some real thick briars , etc and lost their trails . Did the circle thing and couldn't pick up any trail after 500 yards . Spent at least 4 hours on each one and was sick that I had lost them . The other one was a buck in Groveland . I aimed behind his shoulder and he was a few feet behind a doe . She bolted and so did he as I released my arrow . I hit him in the rump and he hauled butt through some thick stuff . I waited for an hour and then started looking . I found pieces of my XX78 shaft and 3 places where he had laid down . He survived and a guy shot him during gun season .

Heading for Walworth in a few minutes . Had a pic of a doe and fawn on Trail Cam a few days ago near the blind . It was 8:13 am . My wife asked if I had changed the time on the camera to allow for the DS Time Change . I hadn't so it should have been 7:13 am . Glad I married someone smart !

That's one of the reasons I don't like to do late in the day hunts . I don't want to get a marginal hit and have to track in the dark . The main thing is , keep looking for a deer that you hit for as long as you can . I know that I would be embarassed if someone came up to me during gun season after finding a dead deer and said , Ed , this looks like one of your arrows ! I take a couple of practice arrows along with me in my quiver and shoot them from the hunting stand to make sure everything feels right .

You can whine all you want but you aren't going to change anything . No doubt that X-Bows will be allowed in regular archery season in a couple years as it's all about money . X-Bow manufacturers are pushing for their usage .

I think Buck is taking too many or the wrong Meds .......... 22 and knows everything , yeah , right .

What Compound shoots 400 fps ? I havn't seen or heard of one . Clue me in please .

I was at the hunting spot in Geneseo at 5:50 am . There was a car partially blocking the Lane but I was able to get around it with the trailer . I sat in my Gulley stand and never saw a thing . I called my sister in law at 7:30 to let her know that there were 3 cars parked in the lane and she said she found out late that they were having a College Horse Competition at the indoor riding range next door . When I went up to my car , there were cars up the Ying-Yang parked all over and I was blocked in but I was parked in the field . I unloaded the ATV and took a trip down to the woods and made a repair on an old treestand . Then I made a few passes through the high grass into the woods . I put a ladder stand up in the Lane-Way and had a heck of a time doing that . Cut some branches but need to take the Limb Pole saw down next time I go . Got something to eat and drink and went to the new stand for the afternoon hunt . At 2 pm I had just climbed up , took my backpack off and was hauling up my bow . I wasn't there 5 minutes and 2 doe ran out into the field 100 yards away . They had either crossed my trail or followed me . Got some hooks in the tree and settled down . The wind was blowing at my back and felt pretty cold for 55 degrees . At 4:30 , I saw a couple doe come into the field almost 200 yards away . Then another 2 and then 3 more . Seven does / fawns . They milled around and the wind had to be blowing my scent right at them . They never came closer than 120 yards but at least I saw some deer !!! I tried to take some pics but they came out fuzzy with the digital zoom .
