  1. I have no idea how many or what percent of NYS folks have the Lifetime License . Those that do only have to pay extra for the bow , ML and Bird Stamps . The Lifetime drops the yearly amount of money going into DEC coffers so I would think at some point , the DEC would start to lose money especially with less people getting into the hunting .
  2. I am not familiar with the NYC rules / regulations concerning various permits . I have never heard of any requirement for a "shotgun permit" . I am aware that NYC has stricter laws on permits than the rest of the state . When applying for the pistol permit , I would check the "for hunting" box . If you plan to Bow hunt , you need to have satisfactorily completed both the Gun Safety and Bow Safety courses . My youngest son wanted to bow hunt only . He took the Bow safety course and passed with no problem . A week before season opened , he went to Gander Mt to get the Bow License but couldn't because he hadn't taken the Gun Safety course ( even though he had no intention to gun hunt ) . It helps if you know the rules / regulations .
  3. This topic has been moved to General Hunting. [iurl]http://huntingny.com/forums/index.php?topic=3395.0[/iurl]
  4. I believe there are some in the Southern Tier . Contact the DEC and see what they will tell you about hogs in various areas .
  5. I started using regular hearing aids last spring . I only use them for bow hunting and don't put them in until I am on stand . I think they cost about $4800 so I don't want to lose them . I can hear the squirrels and Blue Jays better now . I don't wear them during gun season . Soooo , if your hearing is normal , the enhancement must be a real plus ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/thumbup.gif[/img]
  6. Archery Talk ----- it's a bow site --- GOOGLE it and check it out
  7. I wouldn't put it past the legislatures to try to find a loophole to get at that money ! Like , where is all the money from the Lottery that is supposed to support Education ?
  8. Welcome to Hunting NY . No hogs up this way .
  9. I bought the Lifetime License when they had it for us Geezers for $50 so I won't vote .
  10. Have you taken the Hunter Safety courses ? If not , you need to take both . My youngest son found out the hard way that he couldn't get a bow license without taking the Gun Safety course .
  11. You should always show your pee'rs respect !
  12. I have never hunted there but I have seen more dead deer on Route 81 than any other highway .
  13. It said she's from Fruitport . It sounded like she was a fruitcake !!!
  14. Won't it be great when the tepm gets back up to freezing ! ???

  18. I guess I would check out a local BOCES to see if they had any adult courses . Other than that , I don't know . http://education-portal.com/welding_training_new_york.html New York welding schools New York Alfred School of Art & Design at Alfred University - Alfred | (607) 871-2441 Modern Welding School - Schenectady | (800) 396-6810 New York University, Department of Art and Art Professions - New York | (212) 998-5700 Rochester Institute of Technology, School for American Crafts - Rochester | (585) 475-2654

  20. Welcome to Hunting NY . Grab some popcocn and pull up a chair ........
  21. By maintaining the concealed carry , you never know if the person next to you is carrying or not . That would be more of a determent for a criminal than knowing someone has has a gun in plain sight and take him out 1st !
  22. I think it is inevitable that crossbows will be allowed during regular season in the next couple of years . Okay , it's gonna happen . All I am asking is evidence of any surveys , petitions , etc to allow crossbows to become legal without any pious bull crap about research . I have done my research and there is NOTHING to substantiate the claim that there is a high percentage of folks that want crossbows . Show the reports ! And ....... I have money set aside for the PSE Tac-15 unless something faster and shoots groups beyond 100 yards comes along .
  23. As scarey as it seems to me , I agree with Mr VJP on this one . Open carry could cause some serious consequences as he stated .
  24. Are you serious ? They want $15 and up for them . I wish I had all the ammo boxes that we tossed during training at LeJeune and Onslow Beach . I'd be rich !
