  1. Some of the folks that live near East Avon should stop by the DEC Sportsman's Show in September . They usually have a camp of the Flintlock group on site dressed in the 1700's style of living .
  2. Yeah , and many of these crooks get off the hook by paying a partial of what they owe and the collection agencies write them off . But ...... someone is paying the price for their thievery !!! > ... > ... > ... > ... >
  3. An Oldie but Goodie ! .. ..
  4. I called the Pres of the club and talked to his wife . He hasn't returned my call . If I had no place to dispose of "duds" , I think I would place them in a container with old motor oil that would eventually kill the primers . I don't know what effect it would have on rim fire ammo .
  5. It woorks pretty good . The wife hasn't found me yet !
  6. Yeah , they are so heavy , loud , cumbersome , etc that folks are going to jump on the bandwagon to hunt with them . If folks are going to say how crappy the crossbow is , why would they want to push their use ??? : .. : .. :
  7. What's the price of the rifled barrel ? The reason I ask is because almost every year Dick's Sporting Goods has the Rifled & Modified Mossburg Combo on sale for $250 . My sister in law shot a 5 pt buck with a Mossburg 500 20 ga smooth bore using the cheap Federal slugs at just over 130 yards and he only made it 30 yards . Those Mossburgs are great guns .
  8. I bet you could ask 5 different Sherrif's Deputies and get different answers ...........
  9. With only one archery bow tag , I try to hold out for a big bodied 6 point or larger . Other than that , I try to fill my doe tags .
  10. I like to take the Backstraps and soak them in Peppercorn Marinade for a few hours and then grill the steaks . Da-yum , i'm getting hungry thinking about that !
  11. Congrats on getting the turkey , especially with a bow !
  12. Does anyone have one of these or tried one before . I bought one last winter and came asross it last nigt . Gotta get it in the backpack . It's the knife with the ball on the end and has the cutting edge on what's considered the backside of the blade .
  13. When it gets close to the end of the season , I may change my mind but I would rather have the opportunity to take a doe than a small , young buck ......
  14. I take it off and hang it from something when I get in the stand . For me , a quiver is just something to get the arrows from the vehicle to the stand .
  15. No it doesnt, it lists name and address, thats it. I sit corrected . I corrected my statement just before your post . The number on the list , just before the name has nothing to do with a Permit # . The list numbers are in sequence with names being alphabetically listed . Anyway , what can an anti-gun or anti-hunter do with the list ?
  16. MY father in law had an old Stevens 22 single shot bolt action . Many times , when you pulled the trigger , the rifle didn't fire . If you took the same 22 and rotated it in the chamber , it would generally fire . Problem with the firing pin . There is a place to put duds at the rifle range . Someone eventually takes care of the but I don't know how .
  17. Nice pics Dave . That 2nd from the bottom pic looks like he's laughing at the camera .
  18. They have a QDM group in Italy Valley . I have gone to a couple of their meetings . Most of the locals have joined . Since they started the QDM , they have been harvesting bigger bucks and have been taking more does . No one is beat up for shooting a spike , fork horn , etc ...It's just an agreement , not written in blood !
  19. Welcome to Hunting NY , Cris . Careful about saying anything negative about crossbows or you might be branded as an anti-hunter . I commend you for what you have been able to accomplish in your archery endeavors !
  20. I should be getting my license in the mail pretty soon then ......
  21. I'm on the old list . It has a number which has nothing to do with my permit , a name with middle initial and no address ......... I am on the new list also with address but there is no reference to Permit #
  22. I carry the 223 set on 6X . If a chuck is real close , it is hard to see . It's just a blur . I talking like walking along and spotting one at say 20 yards . My Contender barrels sport 2X6 scopes . My NEF Huntsman has a 1.5 X 4.5 scope . I have a 4X20 on the NEF 25-06
  23. I certainly have and I don't put down anyone that does during bow season as any deer you can take with a bow might be a trophy to that person . I have some antlers in the garage no no mounts . Last year I passed up shots on some 4 and 6 pointers knowing that there were much larger bucks in the area . If a doe had come along , I would have dropped her . Well guess what ! I ended up taking a button buck that I thought was a doe and never filled a buck tag last year . I didn't feel bad because I was spending time outside and saw some gray fox , red fox , turkeys , racoons , etc .. Any time outside is quality time .
