I prefer the Millet rings . You can adjust some of the horizontal my loosening one side and tightening the other . A couple years ago I was at the local range . A shooter was swearing and complained that he had adjusted his scope as far to the right as he could and it was still off . I looked at it and realized he had Millet rings also so I told him to adjust the scope about 30 clicks left and we could get the rifle zeroed in . He told me I was nuts and I said "trust me" . Anyway , he moved the 30 clicks and I got out the allen wrenches and moved the scope . He didn't realize that he could do that . That's basically why I like that particular brand .

I found the material that came with the scope and it didn't mention the distance other than before mounting hold it approximately 3" from your eye . I move it back about 1/2" and that made a big difference . Now I have to make a trip to the range next week to check it out .

I have met Bob Foulkrod , Dick Bernier , Charles Alsheimer and Larry D Jones . Charlie Alsheimer was the most personable with Dick Bernier a close 2nd . When I mentioned Chuck Adams to the other two , you could see fire in their eyes ........ .. They didn't care for Mr Adams .

Thanks for the replies . I havn't really measured the distance from eye to scope and I have had the scope on the rifle for a few years . I don't have a full field of view with the scope unless I lean way forward to see better which is not the proper way to shoot . I have to make some changes .

Too cold for me . Two of my sons hunt an area in Pittsford with their bows during regular gun season .

A few years back , I was hunting with my sister in law on her property . We had a couple of guys ion adjacent properties that were hollaring back and forth across her property . I think they did it because she had kicked them off her property and they wanted to get even . I guess to be a good hunter , I should have offered to escort one of them to the other side of the field rather than get get upset and comment about it ......... : ... :

For me , it would be Chuck Adams . I read his book "Life at Full Draw" a few years ago and was impressed with his hunting expertise . A lot of folks find Chuck arrogant .

What is the correct / ideal / whatever distance from the scope on a rifle to your eye ? 3" ? 4" ? Better yet , what is the safest effective distance ?

It's a small price to pay for peace of mind to have ATV insurance . It covers the ATV plus property damage in case something happens .

I checked CountryMax , Tractor Supply and WalMart . None of them had the stuff . It costs almost as much as the price to have Cabelas ship the stuff . I may get it anyway .

Many of the Archery Shops are owned and operated by an individual who has a full time job and works in the shop when he gets homes from a day's work . I don't envy these guys at all . I have respect for most of them . I try to do as much with my bow as I can to avoid going to a shop .

Yes , the thread is apparently a retaliation to the thread about "How do other hunters irritate you?" as stated above . No one seemed to offend anyone else in that thread .

My son and I were using the 2-ways at his property in Italy Valley . WE had them on vibe and you only talked if the other person buzzed you back . It was to let the hunting partner know you were getting down or moving . We kept any calls short . We would hear conversations from a group of 3 hunters (knew it was 3 by the call names) . They would contact each other every hour and talk for about 5 - 10 minutes . The conversations were nothing of importance , just BS . I always wondered if they ever shot any deer .....

I always liked watching Team Fitzgerald ( Dan & Guy ) . They seemed down to earth and shoot compounds with fingers . They did a cookout once and Dan dropped the tailgate of his truck , hand swept the leaves out and got out his BBQ sauces . They started a fire but didn't have a grill so Dan used the screened bottom part of a chain on stand to cook their burgers on . They were fun to watch but I havn't seen them in a couple years . I think they are on The Sportsmen's Channel that Time warner doesn't carry in our area .

I was under the impression that some of the money went to support hiking and biking trails . Is there anything to that ?
