  1. Another incident --------- My sister in law was asked by her neighbor if he could hunt on her property . She told him to let her know when "he" would be out there . When gun season opened , there was a couple of young hunters walking her land . She confronted the two and told them to leave .They said "uncle Ron said we could hunt here ." She said "Uncle Ron doesn't own this property and they were to leave ".They walked away and sat on a coop on the property line mouthing off . A guy on the other side of the field called to them and they said they couldn't come across because the land is posted and they were told to leave . They were hollaring to each other across a 200 yard field . I told the man what happened and he happened to be their father . He said 'well , she's just making trouble for herself" ! I told him , "It's her property and she can do what she wants with it !" I have told tresspassers that I have seen in her woods to leave .....It always seems like they are "lost" or "tracking a wounded deer" ( when there have been no sound of any shots) ................
  2. Several years ago my sister in law had shot at a buck and hit it . It was heading downfield to her north field . A hunter was standing by a coop (horse jump) and dropped the buck . He walked over to the buck and she had run down the lane to take another shot . She told the guy he was shooting onto posted land . He said he didn't know it was posted . She said there is a Posted Sign right on the post where he had rested his gun . He left and she got the deer . The posted signs were obvious !
  3. It's a Game King ...... If the weather is fair tomorrow , i'll try them out . Thanks !
  4. You need to put something on it ( paint , stain , etc ) to get it to blend in . It really stands out in the woods .
  5. My father in law gutted the first two deer that I killed and never explained anything to me . I learned through trial and error and from what I could find in books . When my son shot his 1st deer , he started to field dress it and asked me to do it . I told him that I was going to take my time and explained to him stem by step how I did it and when I shot my next one I had him do it and we went through it step by step . I have butchered my own deer by trial and error and do a fair job but there is much room for improvement .
  6. I hunted with my Contender 7-30 waters one season and shot a doe at 55 yards . Killed her with a fireform load .
  7. I asked about the Hornaday 120 gr HP and the Sierra 117 gr spitzer because those are the two that I have reloaded some test rounds already and have many more for reloading . I thought possibly someone may have used one or both of them for deer . I have taken deer with the 25-06 using Factory loaded Remington 120 gr Core Lokt's but between the Hornadays and the Sierras , I have at least 160 bullets that I can use .
  8. Thanks for the heads up . Usually there is a big ad in the local PennySaver but nothing yet .
  9. Which is the better bullet to use in reloading in 25-06 for deer hunting ? I am considering the Hornaday 120 gr HP and the Sierra 117 gr spitzer . Any thoughts on either of these two bullets ?
  10. Sometimes you can pick up a large piece of countertop being thrown out when someone is remodeling ...........
  11. Carry a small camera with a telephoto lens and get pics !
  12. I'll stick with my single pin sights . No need for multiple pins .
  13. Dayum ! I really screwed up . The place I was talking about is Shooter's Supply in Bloomfield . I was way off base with Bullseye ! First time I have been wrong this year ! : .. : ... :
  14. If that's the case , I owe a big apology . The place I thought was BullsEye Archery is the store on the southeast corner of Rt 444 and Main St (rt 30) in Bloomfield . If that isn't the place then I owe Bullseye an apology for dissing them . The place I was talking about has a long porch on the west side where you park and the bow shop is in the north end of the building ........
  15. I was checking my SD cards from the trail cams with my Pentax camera but it has a small screen . This thing makes the pics quite visible !
  16. The last time I was in there , they had some BP supplies / accessories . That was several years ago and I don't slow down when I go by the store .
  17. Traditions Archery on East Henrietta Rd is an Elite Dealer . He has a pretty nice shop . The guy that runs the shop came from around the syracuse area
  18. I have only been in Bullseye Archery a couple times and mad purchases . I thought they were pricy and the guy in the Archery / Gun area had an attitude . Maybe I wasn't spending enough money there . Anyway , I don't stop there anymore when I am in the area . I wonder if Bullseye dropped Elite or if it is the other way around . Maybe they are a good shop if you go there enough . They turned me off .
  19. Yes , they sell the apples . A farmer sub-contracts the crop from them and has them picked . There are so many Fruit farms around that the deer don't devastate the crop but they are there . Even though they are anti-hunters , they are still close friends . Folks don't have to agree with everything I believe in to be friends ! :
  20. I started deer hunting in 1965 . Since then , I have only met one DEC Officer while hunting and that was about 1966 . Joisey must have a lot more officers than we have . The only time I see any DEC guy now is when we have the Sportsmen's Dinners in the spring .
  21. I used to sight mine in every year a month or so before gun season opened . Nothing changed . Then every two years . No change . Then every 5 years . No change . I have a 12 ga Winchester with a Weaver Qwik-Point sight from 1965 . I have shot a bunch of deer with it over the years but now about the only time I take it is opening day of gun season . Other than that , I take the muzzle loader because it's more fun to shoot . I havn't adjusted the sight on the shotgun in about 43 years .
  22. Well , I guess i'm not going to drive down to New Jersey to hunt ! ???
  23. Nice bear pic , Burt . I don't think i'd want to be walking around the camp unless I was packin' !
