Back in the late sixties I purchased my first new Television set, a Motorola console model with a 21 inch screen that had closing doors on the front, in it's day it was top of the line. At that time the job I was working gave me a take home pay of $126.00 every two weeks so the TV's $550.00 price tag was huge, in fact I had to buy it on time as they said back in those days. Those old TVs had vaccum tubes that would blow from time to time necessitating a call to the TV repair man for a replacement tube, or you could go to the local store which had a tube tester and test the suspect tubes yourself and buy a replacement. Fast forward to today and that same $550.00 will buy a Hi Def flat screen with a four to five foot screen with picture and overall quality that is light years better than the old Motorola in every single way.. My current TV is an LG sixty inch screen that I purchased around 10 years ago, I think I paid $1200 for it, picture is still great and have had no problems. The old Motorola could not make it through a year without some sort of repair. Anyhow with this Covid horseshit going on with not a whole lot to do for entertainment I decided to try one of those TV-Movie LED projectors so the wife and I can have the family over the summer for some outdoor movies, I purchased a simple 12 foot screen which is pretty good size but this projector is capable of projecting a 300 inch image if one has a screen that big. Best part the whole works is under $400.00, hopefully this gizmo works well, let the good times roll. Al

There is an old saying about walking a mile in someone's shoes before making a judgement, some of these dipshit politicians should heed that saying especially when it comes to the day in and day out, week in and week out, year in and year out total bullshit these police officers have to deal and put up with. I see the TV show "Cops" has been canned, the Dems do not want the public to see what these guys and gals have to actual do on the job. Al

The board administrator or one of the moderators if they have permission should be able to fix the problem for you. Al

I do not see much humor in it! Forget it about Trump and look at the party's platform and policy, lets take a look. Anti Pro Life, (As a side note I would like everyone be made to witness a video of an actual late term abortion before making up their mind, especially those making ruling policy) Defunding and dissolving Police departments and ICE and just plain anti Law and Order! Taking away second amendment rights Anti Hunting & Fishing "IE animal rights" Open Borders Free healthcare, free education for illegal aliens-nothing is free Free college-nothing is free Free monthly paychecks-nothing is free Anti Energy coal, gas and oil Anti Farming Anti gender differences Anti internal combustion engines, boats, cars, motorcycles, planes, tractors, planes, chainsaws, mowers etc etc! Anti Tradition ammo Anti historical monuments Anti American flag Anti national anthem Giving rioters and the likes of Antifa and asshole like them a pass Men pissing in women's restrooms and vise versa Whew I am getting tired of typing so last but not least taking way poor Elmer Fudd's shotgun By the way the quote above was made by Bowmanmike in Pygmy's reply and not by Pygmy to be clear! Video games are what hunting in the future will end up being and I will bet there will be a day when they are banned also for not being PC! Al

Congrats, your mount is beautiful, there is not much that can top a Wood Duck drake for color. I had one for a pet and he was sure pretty. I did a bit of waterfowl hunting years ago and where I hunted Mallards, Teal, and Woodies were what was most common with an occasional Back Duck. 50 years ago I once bagged a Pintail drake and it was the only one I ever saw hunting ducks, I had it mounted and it sits here in my gun room. Snapped a quick photo of it and it is still holding up after all those years. Al

I am now realizing there is an upside to being old, I won't be around to see the libtard Democrats turn this country into the utopian shithole they wrongly want it to be, hopefully I am dead wrong! That being said for as long as I am around I will continue to fight them at every turn and vote against them every election day as long as I am physically able. I do feel sorry for the young folks for what looks to be down the road! Al

From where I am sitting the whole Corona episode has and continues to be nothing but political from the get-go! Al

Mattis Finally Breaks Bad

I like the way amnesia conveniently afflicts some in a short period of time, remember the Freddy Gray and Michael Brown riots? Who was President then? Al -
So if the mob comes to your street or town, what do yo do?

If I lived in one of the areas the low life scum is rioting, destroying property, ruining people's lives and businesses I would not only be glad to see them I would be cheering them on and obeying their orders. Al -

A great memorable quote from the Magnificent Seven movie on Quotes.net - Calvera: If God hadn't meant for them to be sheared, he wouldn't have made them sheep. So about all I am going to say is I ain't no sheep! Al -
No problems with nickel plating, my nickel plated Colt Python spent a lot of time soaking in white kerosene with no ill effects. Coleman Fuel which I think is a bit more refined than white Kerosene is also a good soak cleaner. Al

I am sure they will be flapping their gums in front of the cameras shortly, they are busy concocting a scheme to try and lay the whole blame of these riots on President Trump! Al

I had an old time Barber and Gunsmith both give me the same advice when it came to general cleaning of my grooming clipper blades and handguns. "Clear white Kerosene", get a Tupperware type container that your equipment will fit into, take the grips off the handguns and put the handguns into the container, cover them with the Kerosene and let them soak. All crud and dirt-powder residue easily come off with a toothbrush and soft bristle bore brushes, wipe down with a good micro fiber cloth and you are good to go. This method is for equipment made out of metal and it works great. The dirty Kerosene can be filtered through a coffee filter and be used over and over. Al

Because of their relatively low numbers I would tend to think Fishers would be on the bottom of the Totem pole when it comes to the number of eggs of ground nesting birds eaten by the varmint community in the grand scheme of things. Foxes, Skunks, Coons, Possums, and Coyote all love eggs and will get their fair share. Back when I had my flock of Merriam's wild Turkeys they were raised free range for the most part. Once the Hens started up a nest and laying a clutch of eggs they would never walk directly to or from the nest. I noticed at feeding time the Hen would walk a couple of steps from her nest and fly out to the feeding area and eat. When done eating they would fly back to within a few feet of the nest and then settle back down to sit and incubate their eggs. Not positive why but I think is was a way to protect their nest and keep tracks and scent going and coming to the nest at a minimum. Al

Corona Virus Thread
airedale replied to Al Bundy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Pretty sad, I knew right away when this pandemic reared it's ugly head that the Democrats would go all out to figure ways to use it for any political gain against Trump they could conceive and true to form they are not letting me down. Al -
Back in my Coon hunting days I was acquainted with a fellow from Rome NY that I was in a Coon hunting club with. He not only Coon hunted with Blueticks he was also into Basset Rabbit Hounds big time and had some of the best hunting Bassets in the USA, his name is Frank Blockston. Last I knew he is still alive and kicking, and is still involved with his Bassets, the last contact info I have is listed below. Frank W Blockston Jr. 616 S GEORGE ST ROME, NY 13440 [email protected]

Trump Stupidity
airedale replied to Rattler's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Well I sure as Hell am not going to lose any sleep over that decision, everything thing else Trumps has done far and above outweighs that weak argument and the decision is still not set in stone. A far cry for what the Democrats would do to hunting and outdoor sports in general if they got the power to do so! Every single animal rights, anti gun and anti hunting group vote Democrat. One only has to look at California to see the Democrat's blatant anti hunting devastation policies to a once pretty decent hunting state. Al -

Trump Stupidity

It is all about party platform for me and a President following through and getting it done. Pro NRA and a member Pro Religion Pro Second Amendment Pro strong military and law enforcement Pro Strong Borders Stop illegal immigration The Wall Cut Taxes Obeying the land's law and enforcing the law. Pro Life Pro Hunting Pro farming Pro traditional ammunition Pro energy Pro jobs and keeping them here. Pro America first across the board To name just a few. So far so good in my book policy is moving in or at least staying in a trajectory I like, as for the sideshow baloney about a bragging bombastic personality it does not mean shit to me even a little bit!, it is all about results and actually doing what you are elected to do. It is always best to try and match your scope to the caliber and the type of hunting you will be doing. You have stated that your Savage 308 will be used for short range woods hunting and your Mini 14 will be used for long distance shooting. I would take the Nikon 3X9 off the Savage and mount it on the Mini 14 where it's relatively high power can be utilized. For short range woods hunting field of view for me is more useful than high power as quick target acquisition can be more important than magnification. The majority of Deer I have killed has been with a slug gun out to around 100 yards and closer, the scope was just a straight 3X. personally I would consider a regular 1X4 to maybe a 2X7 Leupold for the Savage 308 for the type of hunting you are wanting to do. As for the 10/22 most dedicated rimfire scopes will get the job done, buy the best one you can afford. Al
