  1. How long did you have flu like symptoms? I was sick for 3 days, started getting better and now going backwards.
  2. Which way was she facing when you exposed yourself to her? It makes a big deference. lol Seriosly, Good Luck!
  3. Happy Birthday Greg! I hope you have a great day!
  4. Well it's official, I tested positive for the coronavirus! DAMN! Now my wife is feeling sick, she'll get tested today. I certainly hope i haven't passed it on unknowingly? on a good note, iam feeling better and no fever since Sunday! Good luck to everyone out there today! It looks like a great day to be in the woods.
  5. It turned out great! First time cleaning one with the 40%peroxide paste(thanks Lawd) and a little power washing.
  6. Congrats on the anniverary Jay! I think we'll all will be thinking of you that morning at least until we pull the trigger ourselves, then all bets are off!
  7. Out of "likes", Bottom line is you have to be in the right place at the right time! Say Hi to Mr J for me!
  8. Congrats to all that scored yesterday and today! Some beautiful deer taken! Sadly, It looks like I'm going to be watching from the sidelines for the next 14 days unless I get a negative test result. Won't get the results until at least Wed. I started getting sick on Friday and woke up with a fever yesterday, went and got a covid test last night. If positive I'm out till the gun opener! Boy, I sure hope Biden comes through with his promise to eliminate this coronavirus crap!
  9. Buck soup! Better than tag soup any day! I know I should have gotten it mounted but I don't have any room for another mount. So I'll do a euro mount and hang it in the garage with the rest.
  10. Up and heading to 9J for a morning sit. then going to put up another stand. Too warm to hunt this afternoon anyway. Next week looks to warm to hunt, glad I haven't put the motorcycles away for the winter yet!
  11. I've actually been thinking of getting a pair of those skin grippers. I ended up just using a pair of channel locks!
  12. I haven't used a heater yet, but I plan on using 1 this season once it starts getting real cold. I'm actually looking forward to sittng in the elevated box blind with a heater on. At my age i find it increasingly more difficult to get warm and stay warm while in a tree.
  13. Congrats Brian! Awesume buck! You deserve it! Best of luck with all the rest of your trials and tribulations! We're still praying for you and your family.
  14. I'm here, just reading everyone's comments. I cut up the deer yesterday as i knew it was going to get warmer. I didn't want to push it with the temps outside at 50+. I did check the temp of the meat and it was 45 deep in the hind quarter. That buck was one of the hardest skinning jobs I've ever done. Cold/ stiff and there was a ton of fat on it. Plus these old arthritus ridden knuckles can't grip like they used to. Most of it will be ground so the whole aging thing is a moot point. Other than the tenders and the back straps, of course! I'm going to grind it today and it will all be in the freezer soon. Thanks again for the advise and the entertainment! Lol
  15. From what I'm reading 35-40° is good to age for several days. I just checked and the temp deep inside the rear thigh is 45° so I'm not going to wait any longer. What else do I have to do today other than watch the Bills game?
  16. Happy Birthday Andrew! I hope you have a great day!
  17. OK so maybe not the best title? I'm ready for the Pygmy comments! But seriously i know a lot of guys hang their deer for a while to let the meat age. I've been trying to do that also but this time of year it gets dicey. I shot my buck on wed night, took it home and threw some ice in the chest cavity and between the back legs, to get it cooling down. I hung it in my garage since. i just checked and it's 45 in the garage(feels colder than that) It's been hanging for almost 3 days. I'm probably going to cut it up tomorrow but i may wait until Monday? Am I waiting too long?
  18. The guy that helped me track and drag is obviously not professional photographer! LoI should have waited for @Lawdwaz to get there!
  19. Last night in 9F, I posted this in the live from the woods thread so I'm not going to write it all over but, I got lucky! As others have said many times it can change in a minute! From the time this guy walked out into the clover patch until I shot was honestly < 15 seconds.
  20. I got out yesterday for the last couple of hours. Pretty windy but wind was in the right direction. Saw 2 doe way off and literally just at sunset this guy walks out and gives me a shot at 22 yds. He was walking to a scrape behind me, paid no attention to the little bit of moving I had to do to get on him. He never stopped walking even when I gave him a couple of bleahs. So I shot anyway. At first I thought it was high and too far back but he was angled away from me and I was in a stand so it actually was a good shot. He ran maybe 80 yds. And of course piled up in the thick stuff. I am so blessed! 2 deer with a bow! And I have great friends that came to help me with the track and drag!!
  21. Great videos Brian! Glad I found this on the site. I love the primitive archery you and Dino do. I miss seeing you guys at Hawkeye. Really miss the work days, steak nights, and of course the snowshoe shoot! I meant to get back to Hawkeye once i retired but like you said "life gets in the way" and this whole Covid crap didn't help! Tim Meyers
