  1. We got all the oaks planted yesterday. It started to rain just as we finished, perfect! Thanks again Bob!
  2. Yes, thank you for your generosity! It was nice chatting with another member. The trees should be planted tomorrow.
  3. Do you mean the post like these from Tractor Supply?
  4. Well the 1st blind we built made it through the season up to last Friday's wind storm. This sucks, now I have to take it apart, repair what's broken and put it up again. I knew we should have anchored it but just ran out of time. I will definitely strap it down this time.
  5. I got the 2nd dose of the Pfiser vaccine yesterday. As like the 1st I was ok for 12 hrs and slowly started getting a sore arm. But woke up today with a mild fever and bad headache. I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Same as 1st dose. So I assume this will all pass by tomorrow. We'll see? I heard that because I had covid before that the reaction could be worse, I guess they got that right!
  6. I got a cheap china vest for xmas this year. Too late for hunting season but I did wear it skiing and most of the time I didn't even turn it on. The vest itself was warm. It does run small but the xxxl fit me fine. I'm 6' and weigh 185. I know it will get a lot of use next deer season. I picked up a couple of spare batteries that are 10,000mAH that should be enough to get me through an all day sit?
  7. And you have been with all 3! Probably at the same time!
  8. That's a beauty! Good luck with the turkeys, should be fun sighting it in! I still have my White 12ga bp and every year I say that I'll try to take a spring bird with it and still haven't done it. Maybe this May?
  9. Congratulations Jeremy to you and your family! Like Grampy said it goes by fast. Enjoy it while you can. That's awesome! Makes me think back to when my kids were born, 42 years ago! Time flies!
  10. Yes, I put one in my living room and 1 in my bedroom windows. LOL
  11. Do you guys carry stools with you ? They must have some serious back ups! Like shooting Hawkeye on Labor day!
  12. I don't know why this didn't post in the last post ?
  13. Yesterday I cleaned out the garage, smoked some snack sticks, mounted the new hard bags on my wife's bike (her xmas present) took down all the Christmas lights, and got it all done just in time to leave for hockey.
  14. Nice thread! I enjoyed all the pics and some of the memories. This is truly why I came to this forum and why I'm still here. Great way to spend my Sunday am sipping coffee and reminiscing. Keep the pics coming!! Yesterday I went to my friends camp in Chautauqua and helped open up a few pear trees and did a little shed hunting. It was nice to get back out and walk the property and start the "must do" list for this year.
  15. I agree with Grampy on this. I couldn't have said it any better!
  16. Happy Birthday Dan! I hope you have a great day!
  17. I think I may have that same knife on the left? leather handle made in Germany? IIRC I need a sheath for that knife also! Nice work!
  18. Happy Birthday Jason! Tell Dave I said he owes you lunch! I hope you have a great day!
  19. My wife and I both got our 1st dose of the Pfizer vaccine. We both had appointments scheduled through NYS website for 3-18 and 3-21 but I got an email from Roswell on Tuesday and I was able to get in for the shot yesterday. Then Wednesday I got an email from Erie county and I was able to get her in at ECC on Thursday. We cancelled the previous appointments after we both got our shots. It seems that in the last week shot availability has opened up a lot. It's probably a combination of people like myself that are cancelling appointments due to getting a closer date elsewhere, more vaccine being shipped, and the number of people who qualify for the shot and are declining it. As for side effects, my wife had a fever yesterday, body aches, upset stomach, and fatigue. Pretty much flu like symptoms as they said she might. She's still sleeping so I don't know if she feels any better today. It's supposed to last 24 hours, we'll see? Myself just a sore arm so far, we'll see what today brings.
  20. As long as I have the grinder out I figured I would geind up some wild turkey for a big batch of tetrezinni!
  21. Yes Bob, same ratio, I was just commenting on the fact that it's easier to grind them together rather than mixing ground by hand.
  22. Some of the sausage was just a 2/3 gr. venison mixed with 1/3 ground pork. and some we ground up venison and pork butt together at a 2 to 1 ratio of venison to pork. I think it goes better grinding both pork and venison at the same time, it just mixes better. Also, next time we should use a larger mixing bowl and do a little smaller batches as it's easier to mix.
  23. I don't think the casing will go bad, just throw them in the freezer.
  24. A lot of lessons learned, we'll do better next time! If we can get a couple more guys we could really make a bunch of different varieties and share them with each other. And maybe we should do it on a Saturday afternoon so we can get more done and still have a little beverage time w/o staying up so late!
