I forgot to mention that when we butchered this buck, I found a bullet lodged in its front leg. The bullet was fully intact and expanded. I know it wasn't my bullet as my shot entered at the base of his neck and exited in the middle of his spine. Must have been shot last year, as when I saw him he did not have any apparent limp. These animals are tough as nails, I give them alot of respect.

A little late in my response....but that is one hell of a ML buck. I'm yet to connect with my ML.....I have had opportunities but just not what I was looking for.
-
Congrats....Great job in getting it done.
-
Congrats....Wow that really is a last minute deer. Way to end the Reg. season.
-
Consider them fortunate, I'm sure there are hunters out there that would do anything for a doe right now. Like your friends I had only seen does the enitire regular season, that is until this guy came along. You just never know. Good luck if you go with the ML.

We have been fortunate to get bucks in the past of this caliber, but not with the long tine length that this buck has. I have to agree that there was only one other buck I saw that was this big or may have been even bigger, but he was on another property right along rte. 23 -that was maybe 6 or 7 years ago. They are out there, I have them on camera, but getting them on the ground is a different story all together. If you go, best of luck with ML.

Near Harpersfield

Thanks Burt. Is your turnip plot getting hit yet? The deer by me are just starting to get at the turnips.

Nice to have 200 acre's tucked away for the late season, that should be a nice sanctuary if its been unmolestered. I hope you get a bigger one then mine. Best of luck.

Thanks everyone, if there was one year that I said I would deserve a deer this would be it. It has been a long hard year with putting in food plots, prunning trees, cutting fire wood, hanging stands and dealing with a brutally cold, windy and snowy season. Hunting is a labor of love that every once in a while we get lucky. This year my family has been blessed. Now we need to start getting ready for next season....lol Best luck to all for the muzzleloader season.

Attached is a picture of an 8 pointer I took on 12/10 in unit 4F.

With having endured a very cold deer season and with only this weekend to close the deal for the regular season, I was able to connect on Friday afternoon 12/10, its an 8 pointer that field dressed at 150 lbs and has some good tine length.
-
yeah kneecaps and here in Brooklyn we break fingers ....lol...a person like that needs a real lesson...being shot would be too humane . What would make anybody shoot a deer and then leave it in the woods to rot...that is sick. I'm sure a few of us would have a field day behind closed doors with a slob like that..

Welcome aboard.

unfortunately most pics are taken at night.

My camera is still out there. I like to take inventory in the late season and after hunting is all done.
-
Wow now that stinks.......that would make me sick for a long time. Best luck next time. Those big boys dont come around that often.

Here are the pictures of the 8 pointer and 3 pointer my dad and uncle took on 11/21. Also attached is the 3 pointer I took with my bow. All were taken in Otsego county, unit 4F. No luck for me yet with connecting with a buck, seen all does so far. Seems that bucks were chasing does all over my property on 11/21 and then everything after that just shut down. After the two bucks were shot we did manage to see a few doe and a 4 pointer, but no big bucks. Not too many shots fired in the area.

Very nice Geno, nice looking deer.

Attached are pictures of the 8 pointer my uncle shot and 3 pointer my dad shot on 11/21. The ole men outdone me again . Also attached is the 3 pointer I shot with my bow. Hope everyone is having fun.

Anyone have a snowmobile?
NYBowhunter replied to burmjohn's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
Got that right when the three carbs kick in on my two stroke, the powerband is unreal. Nothing like the sound and throttle response of a two stroke. -
No pictures just yet however on my property in 4F my dad took a hefty 3 pointer that firld dressed 115 lbs. (shot at 7:30 am) and my uncle took a real nice 8 pointer that field dressed 140 lbs, he was very light on the scale and I think the light weight was do in part to alot of chasing / breeding he did in the area (shot at 9:00am). Both bucks were taken on 11/21. The 8 pointer was tending four does when he got shot, an hour earlier my uncle missed a 4 pointer in the same exact spot that was with 3 does. No luck for me so far in about three days of gun hunting I saw 10 does, no bucks. Continued Good luck to all.

Anyone have a snowmobile?
NYBowhunter replied to burmjohn's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
I would want to get $1,300.00, it has a new pull start, brand new drive belt (never used) and the track is studded. In good condition considering its a 1995. Some minor tear in seat which is expected, mechanically sound and very fast. Was started this summer and fired right up and holds idle very well. Its currently all covered up so I'm sure you can get many pictures and videos on the web. -

I have one but dont get much time in the saddle, whenever I'm up there I wind up going small game hunting. The times i have ridden its a blast, I have miles and miles of pipelines to ride by me and the snow gets deep real fast. I have a 1995 Polaris XCR 600 two stroke with triple carbs, hit the throttle and you get whip lash. Like anything you need to be real carefull and know where you are riding, there can be many dangerous things lurking under the snow that can cause an accident....i.e stumps, barbwire etc...Good rule of thumb is never ride on a trail that you have not been on when the ground was bare......Lots of fun when you have a bunch of people to ride with and go riding at night. I maybe looking to sell, so let me know if anyone is interested.
