This is a typical older lead doe in my area, kinda hard to pass up all that meat.
-
Yeah I guess, but whenever I see a huge doe my mouth starts to water and all I can see are huge steaks..lol..but yeah again for me I never had an issue of other does filling the void of one's I shoot.

I thank the lord everyday that my bb's are safe from wolc.. To be honest, with only 40 acres , there is no doe, bb, buck or any deer for that matter that will not wander off my property. Thats just reality. I have shot old lead does in a group, huge does in a group and it really doesn't affect my ability to hold and attract new ones and new groups.

Let's think of this logically and from a physiological perspective, I really don't get the concept of letting does go that have fawns as opposed to shooting lone does. There are a few reasons a doe will be alone, but for the most when she becomes receptive she will chase the fawns away to begin breeding, so wouldn't it be best to not shoot the lone doe as opposed to one with fawns? I have never witnessed a doe being dodged by a buck and then fawns in tow. It doesn't matter to me as I will shoot a doe with or without fawns if thats what I want at that moment. But if I had to choose I much rather shoot a doe with fawns and leave that lone doe alone, as more then likely it will be that lone doe that will draw that buck in. Of course if there's a smaller then usual fawn or one still holding spots and is with a doe, then I would pass. But most fawns in my area I have seen are big enough to fend for themselves come October. Heck I have two fawns that use my property as thier core area, always see them feeding together since beginning of September and they are never with mom.

LIVE From The Woods 2020 - Let's hear stories and see some pictures!
NYBowhunter replied to Marion's topic in Deer Hunting
The only tree in a five block radius and you managed to get a center punch, great shooting..lol -
I knew it was only a matter of time before a deer would swim over into Brooklyn from Staten Island, crazy to think of deer in Brooklyn. Now I dont have to travel 3 1/2hrs to camp to hunt, can get them right in my backyard. ...lol...this happened last Tuesday, the deer was sedated by cops after a two hour chase and brought back to S.I.

The ever requested electronic aid deer hunting thread
NYBowhunter replied to Nomad's topic in Deer Hunting
OMG people, we, well atleast me I hunt to kill deer so I can eat them. Love to shoot big bucks, but also kill does. As long as the implement and devices we use to up our odds are legal, have at it. But remember, the aspect of hunting is to kill, to reduce herd numbers. Using cell cams or cams in general guarantees you nothing at harvesting deer, it just puts you possibly in a better position. Most of my biggest bucks, I never even had pictures of them. -
Its called Trench art, you can find similar ones on ebay if anyone is interested.

No, an albino is a color mutation of the skin and fur, typically will have pink nose, hoof and around the eyes and all white fur and it does not affect the deer ability to grow a normal rack and body size. Being piebald is a genetic defect and with that you will typically see abnormal looking deer, short legs, bad spines, small bodies and other internal defects.
-
Thats an albino, not a piebald. Has a pink nose.

I can take my bow out a week before the opener and shoot very tight groups, out to 20 yards, i dont practice to the extent I use to, family and professional obligations take priority. But then again, i will only take shots within 20. Im sure with a weekly practice regime I could increase my yardage, but I choose not to therefore I limit my effective range to a max of 20 yards.

Do exact same thing.

R.I.P, one of best pitchers ever in the Mets franchise. Here's a recent picture of him (right) taken at his vineyards in Napa Valley. Picture taken with my sons baseball coach, younger brother John Franco. Two Met Icons, Seaver had that wicked stride and great mechanics, where his back knee pants were always dirty. Died way too young.

That could get expensive...lol.

Use my jet sled for deer , hauling fire wood, pick up grass clippings..etc.... has endless uses and is very durable.
