What Was Your Biggest Disappointment This Season?
NYBowhunter replied to squirrelwhisperer's topic in Bow Hunting
Well i have no complaints, seen plenty of deer, put 3 in the freezer. My goal was to get 4 this year (4 is a good # of deer to have based on vension use for my family). Not for the lack of seeing deer, but i held off shots on mature does and let young bucks walk with hopes to get a mature doe in the late season. I botched that plan up, had 7 doe around me for the ML and missed on a chip shot. All in all, im very happy and blessed. My biggest disappointment was not taking another mature doe with the rifle, had plenty of opportunities. -
I like the name CHASE, but then again im partial to the name as its one of my pups name.

A little after dinner snack, homemade Biscotti.

Never called them that, but they are the size of a football. Roasts from back legs.

Okay back to food....Venison roasts in the slow cooker, 6 1/2 hrs. to go...yum!!!

How far away to place wiggly and caller?
NYBowhunter replied to goosifer's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Thx for the offer, but just gathering the info. Now then will decide. -
I had a small spike (fawn) on my property this year and was followed by an even smaller female fawn, likely his sister as they were following each other around. I can say with upmost certainty he was a fawn with tiny spikes, not 1 1/2 YR. old. First male fawn ive ever seen that had spikes.

007 / Storm banned but new account ?!
NYBowhunter replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
If im up at 3 something in the morning is only because im going hunting or need to take a leak. For someone trying so feverishly to get back on here and creating multiple accounts must have some psychological issues. -

Very sad, hes obviously not a hunter and just a troll . Hunting wise he has never contributed an ounce of wisdom or anything meaningful to any post. -

Do you buy the wiggly seperate or do they come with any good quality caller? Any suggestions? Thx. Oh sorry to post this in your thread, but just thought it was fitting instead of starting a new one. -

Question for all you predator hunters, i always used mouth callers, but if you were to get a new electronic caller today, what would it be? My wife wants suggestions as to what to get me for xmas, so this might fit the bill. Let me know. Thx -

Great year for me so far in 4F, 10 point with bow, 2 does with gun and hoping for one more with the ML. let a few smaller bucks walk, see more bucks on their feet in daylight compared to previous years ( i contribute that to last couple years we are taking more does out of the heard). All in all a decent year so far, seen deer on almost every sit.

Nice, i have the same ones.

Firet food plot in Catt county
NYBowhunter replied to buffalojim's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I spread 3,000lbs of pelletized lime on a plot once, we used an atv with a small tow behind wagon, one guy driving the atv and 2 guys with shovels . Goes real fast. With the bags of lime, i first lay out the bags around the plot, then open fill bucket half way and throw. Goes alot faster if you strategically place the bags down in the plot first. -
Help or advise on how to manage 5 acre pc
NYBowhunter replied to luberhill's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Whomever told you that bucks wont cross a field in day is completely wrong, in the late season when they are pressured most likely no, but bow, crossbow, beginning of gun yes they absolutely will. I have bucks crossing my fields checking for does and eating quite often, even witnessd them chasing and corralling does in a field. So yes they will venture into an open field. Thats how i got my 10 pointer bow buck this season , he was in a plot eating and tending a doe. Definitely get some clover and or brassicas in that plot, keep the resident does happy and you will see that the bucks will eventually trickle in. Pay attention to your entry and exit points to that blind. I never cared to pay attention to wind at my place because the wind can swirl at a moments notice on those mountains. Besides if you have deer coming from all sides on any particular setup why play the wind.
