  1. Well i think my one way is a tad longer...lol..its 3 1/2 hours one way, but i get your point. Its still a 3 hr. Round trip if you only go for the day and thats alot of driving. But if the spot is worth it, then why not. Stay at home nomad, why not just get a cheap $500-1000 trailer and put it on the land. Gives you place to get out of the elements, rest and also a place to stay overnight if needed. As long as its on wheels i dont think it will have any tax implications. Unless its not your land then i can see why you dont have any structures. But yeah traveling 40 minutes twice a day i can see that being annoying after a while.
  2. Damn you guys got it easy , i drive 3 1/2 hours one way without traffic. But when we do go its usually for a long weekend or during the week for a few days. But then again its also a place we go to not only for hunting but to enjoy with family. Id drive 1 hr. easily to hunt and go home the same day. That seems like a no brainer, but then again after driving 3 1/2hrs a 1 hr. Drive is a piece of cake.. But everyone has different priorities and obligations so to each their own.
  3. Sure should, hopefully they make them like those good ole tractors. Thx.
  4. Yeah i got the joke..lol.. Was just pointing out that my properties incline is not that far off from the pictures.
  5. Lol...Guess you'd never been to my property , there are some trails that are at a very nice long steady incline. Put that tractor in turtle gear and chug along. Its actually a good thing because it forces you to slow down and take in all the beauty. Theres nothing like riding a diesel tractor up a mountain at a snails pace as you travel wooded trails to your food plots. I get excited every single time i go!!!!!
  6. Thx. Its the largest in the 1700e series, model is 1739 and its 39 hp. Yes i remember your new acquisition, i follow all tractor threads closely. Just anything tractor related makes me tingle...lol...one day when i retire i hope to get my hands on an older restored massey tractor..like a TO 20 or 30.
  7. Thx and shes a smooth rider, easy on the butt...lol
  8. Absolutely, with the skid steer it shouldnt be hard for me to find a nice plow for the snow.
  9. Here she is fellas all clean for now, traded in my smaller 9 yr old Massey for this larger framed, larger tires, more HP Massey Ferguson. Nice feature is that the newer Masseys now use skid steer attachments so bucket, plows and other front end attachments are interchangle with the likes of skid steer, bobcat etc. Shes much bigger then my prior massey so the bucket needs to be stored separately as the tractor wont fit in the shed with it on. I havent mowed with it yet but i assume visibility without the bucket out front is much better. And if needed it only takes a few minutes to get the bucket hooked up. Hoping to use her next season to change up some of my food plots.
  10. Looks very similar in size to a sow i shot few years back and if memory serves me correct she went 230lbs.
  11. Plant 2 1/2 weeks before the opener and preferably before it rains and by the opener you should atleast have the sprouts emerge, that should work for you. Hopefully it attracts that brute, best of luck. Wouldnt hurt to throw down a few bags of pelletized lime and a bag of fertilizer. I have laid down lime, fertilizer and seed all in one day with great success.
  12. Regardless of the seed you lay down, the plot will get hammered if you have any sizeable deer herd and its a small plot. Not to sound too negative seems a plot that size has the potential of getting wiped out overnight. I get heavy browsing on a few large plots, cant imagine a plot that size holding up to any deer/turkey population. But you may get lucky, hopefully the plot holds out for you until 10/1. Be sure to post pictures of the plots progress. Good luck.
  13. From the looks of this thread us men must be going thru a mid life crisis. I myself traded in a perfectly like new massey ferguson tractor 1531 hydro with less than 200 hours for a new 1739 hydro. I gained 6 more HP at the engine and PTO, bigger frame, tires, skid steer loader and newer technology. Trade value was excellent, guess i keep telling myself these are the reasons to justify purchasing my latest toy. Good luck Moog thats one ballzy ATV, much more power than you will ever need. Congrats. Make sure to wash after every ride.
  14. Good luck, i had a 2000 suzuki 500 quadmaster, its now with my cousin. Never a problem, just change oil. Its 18 years old and still has the original battery., suzuki makes a great atv which is often over looked. Enjoy your new ride.
  15. Ribs smoked over applewood with sweet baby rays , burgers, dogs, chicken and tons of other stuff. Yard party for 2 of my kids. One moving onto HS and other going into middle school. Pool, family and food, oh and lots of beer. Doesnt get any better.
  16. This past bow season, i had a grouse perched on one of my stone walls for the entire day, same spot drumming for the ladies.
  17. I agree, people pick and choose legality based upon different species. Illegal is illegal anyway you spin it. Ive been hunting for 30 plus years and my dad for close to 60 years and we have never been remotely threatened by yotes..i have 4 young children and have/ had dogs and have never felt threatened by yotes even though i can hear them yipping all night behind my cabin. You have a better chance of getting hit by a bus then you, your children or your pets getting attacked by coyote pups. Sorry, i just cant see doing that to those pups. In season and within game laws i agree that all game needs some sort of mgt., but this paranoia is just ridiculous. The chance of attack can happen, but its not the norm. Just keep your kids and pets away from the den and you can all coexist.
  18. Makes total sense. Think you can roll that thing into Brooklyn, i'd buy eggs from you everyday!!!
  19. Awesome, when can i move in..lol..? Thats the Ritz hotel for chickens!!!! With a coop that fancy and comfy those chicks are gonna produce like crazy. Those are some lucky chickens. Great job!!!
  20. Beautiful rat terrier, chase's ears will eventually perk up.
  21. The picture really doesnt show his size, hes so tiny. Yeah 3 dogs i think your set for now..haha..they are a small breed but suppose to be tenacious, very loyal , loving and protective of both humans and thier animal friends (we have a cat), hope they get along.
