  1. I have my main electric grinder at the cabin, its old but does a great job. For at home i picked up a kitchen aid grinder attachment on sale from macys for $45. Did a fine grind on 35 lbs of chopmeat yesterday and worked great.
  2. When you make general ASSumptions as you did, any person that owns land will take your posts personally. I myself take great offense to your comments and stubbies. I can assure you that the tresspasser i have had to deal with were locals, never the city folk. I for one take great pride and work my ass off to acquire, maintain and every year enhance my properties. I give more back to the land then i ever take and try to make it better every year for the benefit of all wildlife, not just deer. Now i will make an assumption with no proof, heres goes. Its usually the non landowner and locals that bitch about all the posted signs and complain how bad the hunting is on public land. Those are the same people that think they have rights to anyones property because they live upstate. They are also the very same people why land is posted because of slob hunters with no respect for the land, dumping, leave crap in the woods, trashing signs etc...now do you get the idea why everything is so locked up. But on the flip side, look at what buckmaster has accomplished with a little leg work, work, work, work and more work. He owns his property, but is tireless in his ability to obtain more land then he could ever hunt. It can be done, but being lazy and making excuses dont help your cause. I own my land now, but in the past we were always able to obtain permission to hund land, by being polite, ask, ask, ask and offer up help, again that translates to alot of work, work, work... But i understand that may be too hard of work for some ..lol..get out there and ask, work hard and stop making excuses and blaming all landowners or making assumptions for your lack of success.
  3. That has to be the most retarded statement ever on this site. Without our city momey alot of those upstate towns would be hurting for sure. I pay taxes for schools upstate that my children will never attend, who benefits from that. Me and my family have owned land, houses upstate for the last 55 + years, what gives an upstater more rights to hunting then us city folk? I can assure you that me and my family are the most realistic, old style hunting you will find.
  4. I have to say they are amazng, worth every penny. I wore them last weekend of muzzleloader and had on just thin dress socks, the temps were 19 degrees and my feet were very warm. They are also very comfortable and offer excellent traction. The only downfall because they are a big boot is that they can be difficult to drive a car with them on., would definitely recommend putting them on once you get to your spot.
  5. Thats some great information and i really appreciate you taking the time to age her. Based upon her huge size, i knew i was looking at a doe that was atleast 3.5 or better ,but couldn't say for sure. Its good to know shes a somewhat ole girl and smart to have eluded me and my neighbor all those years..lol..i went digging thru the bone pile and couldnt find her lower jaw, thinking my dad may have tossed her in a garbage bag. Next time i get a big ole girl like that i will be sure to keep the lower jaw and clean it up. Thx.
  6. You should not be allowed to hunt ever again, revoke your license forever.
  7. Is there a late season permit for Bow/ML? If so, i"d be more interested to what that permit read.
  8. So sorry for your loss, we should all be so fortunate to live such a healthy long life and go so peacefully. My prayers are with you and your family.
  9. Never had an issue, I use 3 pellets of the 777. Once my ML is loaded and after each hunt it never comes indoors, always sleeps in the car or barn. Only comes in if the round was spent. Another key is to thouroughly clean the ML at seasons end, i take out the breach plug and plop it in a cup with a cleaning solvent and set it aside. Once the entire ML is cleaned then ill go back and meticulously clean the breach plug. I also take a fine sewing needle and pass it or pop it threw the breach plug hole to ensure theres no blockage. Pass the solvent thru the beach plug hole to ensure the liquid passes threw freely. Another thing before you put in your first load of the season, is to swab the barrel of any excess oils and to just shoot off one cap (no powder or bullet), just the primer.
  10. Once again another great year spent with family and in the process was able to put 4 deer in the freezer. Time spent with my elderly parents was priceless. I cherish everytime im able to get out to hunt and this season did not disappoint.
  11. What happened to the good ole days when i was 10 (many moons ago) and i would sit in knee deep snow overlooking a field and was so cold my dad had to light a fire for me. Till this day i never forgot that day, waited a few hours and a doe came out into the field running, the snow was up to the does belly. He missed that running shot. That was 37 years ago and i remember it like it was yesterday. What did that one day teach me? Patience, dedication, persistance and you just never know when things can happen. That one lesson alone has made me a very successful deer hunnter, i dont give up!!! What kind of lesson or message do you think these pens send to a kid or even an adult just starting out? Sorry, ill take the same approach with my kids that my dad took with me. Im not into this instant gratification era.
  12. The best money i ever spent (well my wife paid, early xmas gift) were the purchase of those Baffin boots. I hunted in 19 degree weather this past weekend and all i had on my feet were a thin pair of dress socks and those boots. They were not only warm but very comfortable, simply amazing. Its amazing that when your feet are extremely warm and you dress correctly ( lots of layers), how much more enjoyable /tolerable your time is on stand. I will continue to use my rubber boots in the early season and the Baffins will definitely be my go to late season/ cold weather boot.
  13. Unfortunately cant get anymore pics., my dad tossed the bones.
  14. Have to see what my dad did with them.
  15. If thats the case, that tells you how much i paid attention to their teeth...lol
  16. Wow, yeah i wasnt sure how much those missing teeth may have on determining her age. Shes a huge doe, but on top of that i found it odd that her front teeth were missing. Was just hoping those with alot of aging experience can use these pics and give me an estimate.
