  1. Only deer i saw all day, tracks all over the place, shot at 2:30. For the most part they must be moving later in day or at night with all this snow.
  2. Nice, thanks. And knowing the higher elevations in harpersfield where im from, im sure theres more snow and its bitter cold. Only good thing is that the deer stand out in the snow, but i think they know that too and will be sticking to the pines and thick cover. Good luck all.
  3. Thats exactly what i was thinking.
  4. Thats awesome Thanks. Im heading up shortly to higher elevations in harpersfield and was just curious. Thanks again and good luck!!!!!
  5. Anybody have inch totals for Deleware and otsego counties?
  6. Try a pool patch, cheap and will do the job. They have clear, self stick patches that are very tuff and of course waterproof.
  7. I have that same exact stand from sportsman guide, put mine up 7 years ago, i drove 3 metal fence posts into the ground next to each leg and tied together with heavy gauge wire, keeps everything real sturdy. Repainted it this past spring and looks as new as the day i got it (stays out all year long). All my double and single ladders and an elevated box blind all came from sportsman guide, good quality and great prices. Every so often touch up the paint and they last a long time.
  8. I get lots of snow but never felt the need for white camo.
  9. In CNY, Otsego and Deleware counties where i hunt its not uncommon to get snow in the bow and gun seasons. But l i remember some recent snowfalls that were horrendous. That snow storm 2 years ago was crazy, walking up my mountain in 18"- 24" of snow was not fun but we still managed to kill deer.
  10. Not too long ago, think 2 years ago we got dumped with almost 2 feet of snow over the course of opening day and couple days after. That was ruff walking, but was nice to hunt in. Looking fwd to some white stuff, great to see tracks and deer stand out more.
  11. So sorry for your loss, you and your family will be in my prayers.
  12. I will be using my dads marlin 336 in 35 caliber
  13. I typically dont get jacked up until after the shot. What has worked for me over the years is in the off season just go drive around and glass at as many deer as you can, this gets you use to seeing deer. As your watching deer just try to keep your breathing steady and try not to get excited. All of this will then eventually roll over into hunting season, where you will find yourself much more relaxed leading up to the shot and at point of release. And it also helps when you have killed a ton of deer...lol... With time you learn to control the excitement. The more you glass or are around deer in the field the more comfortable you will feel when you see them in a huntable situation.
  14. A big what? I nominate you for the worst picture ever...lol
  15. I use a marlin 336 in 35 caliber and love it. Its over 50 years old (my dads) and is a gem, flat out knocks deer down in a hurry, short barrel, compact, lite and very easy to handle. Because of short barrell its very maneuverable in a treestand or blind. When climbing up my mountain, i strap it to my back pack and dont even know its there.
  16. Actually i dont hunt the plots very much at all, but i will go to them if i need to fill the freezer with a doe or 2. Plots are not a slam dunk as most suspect, not easy seeing a mature buck during daylight hours in my plots. And to answer your question i sure do work my ass off to kill deer, just poke around and you will find out. To you as well, good luck and get a big one.
  17. My conscience tells me when i break my ass to put in a food plot that benefits all wildlife (not just deer) and feeds them throughout the entire year thats the right thing to do. Trust me when i tell you that anybody that does land mgt.and also puts in foorplots and maintains those food plots that the wildlife reap way more benefits then the couple deer i kill each year. My conscience tells me that dumping a bag of corn in a pile just to harvest deer and that has no long lasting sustainable value to deer or wildlife is not ethical. I guess we think differently and i clearly see no correlation between baiting vs. Food plots/land mgt. And for the record i dont give a rats ass either what the guy next door to me does, its never diminished my ability to kill deer.
  18. We do, but not raw and not scraps either, we feed our pup on most days cooked venison mixed in with his dry dog food . He devours it.
  19. Have had iphones many years ago, switched over to samsung and never looked back. I feel the samsung phones are just more easier to operate and user friendly. I just picked up the galaxy note 9, love it, so many usable features.
