  1. Wow are those rocks (boulders) behind your blind in the first picture? They are massive. Talk about funneling deer...lol
  2. I use slick tricks 100gr., they are accurate and deadly.
  3. Good one Wooly, never understood that myself why people post bait piles on a ny hunting forum and then later mention another state. It would avoid a whole lot of finger pointing.
  4. Sorry for your loss, you and your family will be in my prayers.
  5. Yeah these guys were extremely wide as well but i always cut back the non flowering branches so that the plant can put all its energy into producing fruit.
  6. I had to post these, pictures are about 2 weeks old and they have grown even taller since than. At the time i took these pictures these tomato plants were 8' feet tall. Anyone that passes my house cant beleive they are tomato plants. People ask what are those? They continue to throw tomatoes like crazy. The plants come from my dad who makes his own seeds and plants in his greenhouse. I'm sure these are some type of beef steak hybrids that he has bred over the years, with original seeds coming from Italy some 50+ years ago. Ive just never seen plants that tall. Ive done nothing other than to trim off uneeded branches, other than a couple times mixing water with miracle grow but thats it other than adding water. No lime and no ferrilizer. Crazy.
  7. I cant lie after the 18th hr. I took a peak in the smoker and ate a few..lol...
  8. Just out of the smoker after 20hrs, some venison jerky.
  9. Man you just got me so pumped, those brown leaves and blood trail on a cold crisp fall day. Love it!!!! I cant wait!!!!
  10. Another great mix that i most likely will do in that spot is Ladino clover and Pasja turnips or possibly broccolli rabe (if i get get my father to make me enough seeds for a plot that size), theres hardly any root bulb with the pasja turnips but their tops grow back and tolerate grazing very well. With the spots high elevation and seclusion im expecting the plot to get hammered, hopefully not too much though.
  11. I couldnt agree more, but for this year it will just be cut and kept as grass. Thinking of planting buckwheat and clover or turnips and clover next year in that spot. But for now there is just mere feet from this field a new food plot of ladino clover and rape and about 100 yards down further still on the same hillside is yet another new food plot of clover and rape. Cams show deer are frequenting the plots daily.
  12. Ive taken a few deer from there already along with a bear, just try to enhance the property each year by doing little or big things to better my experience and support the wildlife. I get alot of satisfaction from working the land. I have to say being high on a mountain and being 16 feet up in a ladder stand, the views are breath taking. Youll have to take my word for it, its an awesome view even if you dont see deer. Haha, good one.
  13. Call it the spidy tractor. Maybe some turnips and clover next year.
  14. Call it the spidy tractor. Maybe some turnips and clover next year.
  15. Yes i got the sarcasm..lol..its steep, but not that steep.
  16. Yeah its a nice incline and just about the highest point of my property , but thats where all the big boys and girls like to hang out. Its also the very same spot i took my bear from a few years back. Its very secluded and butts up against my sanctuary. Its an adventure getting there chugging along with the tractor ,meandering trails thru the woods and up, up i go.
  17. Yes mountain side, its about 100 yards or so from the top. I guess a better title would have been " close to mountain top field".... lol
  18. Its amazing how such a large herd can blend into the landscape so well, mother nature has the best camo...lol..BTW great pictures.
  19. With the new road that i had put in a couple months back with a dozer i was able to access a high point on my property. Grass was close to 3 feet and i was able to mow it down to a few inches with my tractor and finish mower. Now i have another open area i can use for a future food plot or leave as is for its new grass growth. I was also able to connect this field with one of the new food plots of clover and rape that i put in a couple months back. Beyond that little circle cluster of trees is where the food plot is, which is now connected to the field in the foreground. Im hoping this area will be productive as its very secluded and sits high in elevation. pics are sideways.
  20. Are these all from NY? None the less they are great looking deer and mounts, congrats!!
  21. By using a chainlink fence section approx, 3' by 6' weighed down with cider blocks, large timber beams etc..pulled by an atv is enough to both work in the fertilizer and lime and to leave you a nice firm seed bed. Once that is done by going over the plot several times you can lay down your seed and go over the whole plot just one last time to lightly submerge your seed. If you have cracks and crevices 1and getting your seed too deep you will loose alot of your seed. Firm seed bed, top seeding or slightly submerging the seeds will work well as those clover and brassica seeds are tiny and fair well if top seeded or covered to a depth of 1/2".
