That might work for you , but i do the complete opposite. I open up scrapes where i want them to be and to attract them to my property. I also tailor my food plots to attract and feed wildlife however they are strategically situated to put the deer where i want them. With limited acreage its hard to wait for deer to make thier next move or to wait for a natural scrape to open up. Actually my scrapes encourage deer to setup their own scrapes. Not uncommon to have 5 or more scrapes open up within close proximity of my mock scrape. Remeber deer are a very curious animal, should use that to your advantage to entice them.

Its amazing when your viewing your SD cards and see deer after deer picture and then bam there it is a bear, what a magnificent imposing animal.

Never say never, bears were pretty much non existent in my area and season was closed on them for the longest time , but they are getting more common each year. This is probably the 3rd bear i have on cam in the last few years. A very neat animal to say the least.

For an area of NY where bear are uncommon they seem to be very common on my property. I wanna think that all the habitat improvements i continue to do benefits all wildlife.

Mountain top field
NYBowhunter replied to NYBowhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Guess the mountain top food plot/field is not just attracting deer.. This bear is a mere 50 yards from where i shot another bear a few years back. -
Just put up a double ladder stand this morning overlooking one of the new clover plots. Heres a pic of the view

Why you ask? Its very simple just way to many dirtbags and low lifes in this world that have no repect for others property. Being a landowner and landlord, sometimes we think the people we know, we really dont. What some have worked thier lives to get can get destroyed by others in short order. Sometimes the risk just doesnt out weigh the benefits wether it be finacially or for the sake of animal mgt. Granted there many honest great hunters out there but who has the time to weed through them. Thats why when your out seeking permission you get the simple NO from landowners a vast majority of the times. Its just not worth the headache.

Get her in the cage, you never know might have a hidden champ on your hands.

That bigger six in your last picture is very similar to the one i have, accept mine has no brow tines. Mine has nice mass and is probably one of the heaviest bucks i ever shot.

BTW Grow very nice 6 pointer. I have a huge 6 pointer hanging on my wall, they are a real nice addition to any throphy room..

I have to agree grow. Its what each person finds enjoyable/memorable that makes the hunt and not the size of a rack. I would be lying if i said it didnt like to shoot mature bucks but thats not my primary goal. My goal is to set memories and to have fun doing it with my loved ones. Sharing my passion with older parents , 4 young children and other family members i place no restriction on them on what they shoot or may shoot as they get older. I pass up many does and young bucks each year and at times i may also kill a decent buck but i have also killed younger bucks and does and make no excuse for it. It takes alot of dedication, work and for me fun to make my property the best it could ever be by improving on something each year even if its small. But what i do is not for everyone however it does contribute to make my hunts more enjoyable. Heck my goal this year is to not even hunt opening day with rifle but to sit next to my nephew for his first ever hunt and God willing be part of him harvesting his first ever deer, now that would be awesome and what hunting should be about. So Grow why is it you want to be a neighbor of mine?

Endwell are the Little League World Champs!!
NYBowhunter replied to The_Real_TCIII's topic in General Chit Chat
Been following that team, they are awesome and congrats to them. On a side note they really need to change things with the rules, kids 12 and 13 pitching at 46' and using aluminum bats just dont sit right with me. At that age they should be pitching at 51' and using wood bats. Glad a NY team took it all!!!!! My hats off to those parents and coaches lots of hardwork and dedication right there!!! -
So you didnt use them for bait?
-
Their all by me...lol...you have does around thats all you need, the rest works itself out. Keep them does happy..
-
Nice little snapper, hope you got him to water.
-
I have a stream that runs the entire length of my property, its Herp heaven...have all sorts of critters around, loads of toads, frogs, salamanders, snakes...very cool what water attracts.

I only use 1 pin on my sight, always have. My bow shoots straight out to 25 yards (max i shoot at game in woods) so one pin works great for me and removes the need to have a cluster of pins in view, which for me is annoying. I'm talking about a fixed pin, not those pendulum types.
