Hey moog, didnt know you swung that way...lol

I have to agree grow. Its what each person finds enjoyable/memorable that makes the hunt and not the size of a rack. I would be lying if i said it didnt like to shoot mature bucks but thats not my primary goal. My goal is to set memories and to have fun doing it with my loved ones. Sharing my passion with older parents , 4 young children and other family members i place no restriction on them on what they shoot or may shoot as they get older. I pass up many does and young bucks each year and at times i may also kill a decent buck but i have also killed younger bucks and does and make no excuse for it. It takes alot of dedication, work and for me fun to make my property the best it could ever be by improving on something each year even if its small. But what i do is not for everyone however it does contribute to make my hunts more enjoyable. Heck my goal this year is to not even hunt opening day with rifle but to sit next to my nephew for his first ever hunt and God willing be part of him harvesting his first ever deer, now that would be awesome and what hunting should be about. So Grow why is it you want to be a neighbor of mine?

Endwell are the Little League World Champs!!
NYBowhunter replied to The_Real_TCIII's topic in General Chit Chat
Been following that team, they are awesome and congrats to them. On a side note they really need to change things with the rules, kids 12 and 13 pitching at 46' and using aluminum bats just dont sit right with me. At that age they should be pitching at 51' and using wood bats. Glad a NY team took it all!!!!! My hats off to those parents and coaches lots of hardwork and dedication right there!!! -
So you didnt use them for bait?
-
Their all by me...lol...you have does around thats all you need, the rest works itself out. Keep them does happy..
-
Nice little snapper, hope you got him to water.
-
I have a stream that runs the entire length of my property, its Herp heaven...have all sorts of critters around, loads of toads, frogs, salamanders, snakes...very cool what water attracts.
-
Those are the unexpected guests i dont mind hanging around, nice bunch.

I only use 1 pin on my sight, always have. My bow shoots straight out to 25 yards (max i shoot at game in woods) so one pin works great for me and removes the need to have a cluster of pins in view, which for me is annoying. I'm talking about a fixed pin, not those pendulum types.

Wow are those rocks (boulders) behind your blind in the first picture? They are massive. Talk about funneling deer...lol

I use slick tricks 100gr., they are accurate and deadly.

Good one Wooly, never understood that myself why people post bait piles on a ny hunting forum and then later mention another state. It would avoid a whole lot of finger pointing.

Sorry for your loss, you and your family will be in my prayers.

Huge tomato plants..pic..
NYBowhunter replied to NYBowhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Yeah these guys were extremely wide as well but i always cut back the non flowering branches so that the plant can put all its energy into producing fruit. -
I had to post these, pictures are about 2 weeks old and they have grown even taller since than. At the time i took these pictures these tomato plants were 8' feet tall. Anyone that passes my house cant beleive they are tomato plants. People ask what are those? They continue to throw tomatoes like crazy. The plants come from my dad who makes his own seeds and plants in his greenhouse. I'm sure these are some type of beef steak hybrids that he has bred over the years, with original seeds coming from Italy some 50+ years ago. Ive just never seen plants that tall. Ive done nothing other than to trim off uneeded branches, other than a couple times mixing water with miracle grow but thats it other than adding water. No lime and no ferrilizer. Crazy.

Must have missed that bunch....lol....

Mountain top field
NYBowhunter replied to NYBowhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Another great mix that i most likely will do in that spot is Ladino clover and Pasja turnips or possibly broccolli rabe (if i get get my father to make me enough seeds for a plot that size), theres hardly any root bulb with the pasja turnips but their tops grow back and tolerate grazing very well. With the spots high elevation and seclusion im expecting the plot to get hammered, hopefully not too much though. -

I couldnt agree more, but for this year it will just be cut and kept as grass. Thinking of planting buckwheat and clover or turnips and clover next year in that spot. But for now there is just mere feet from this field a new food plot of ladino clover and rape and about 100 yards down further still on the same hillside is yet another new food plot of clover and rape. Cams show deer are frequenting the plots daily. -

Ive taken a few deer from there already along with a bear, just try to enhance the property each year by doing little or big things to better my experience and support the wildlife. I get alot of satisfaction from working the land. I have to say being high on a mountain and being 16 feet up in a ladder stand, the views are breath taking. Youll have to take my word for it, its an awesome view even if you dont see deer. Haha, good one.
