Confident idiots are always entertaining.

I have shot three deer with rage 2 blade broadheads. The last one bled out directly in front of my brush blind @ only 10 feet. He started to wobble and finally expired 3 feet away from my blind. Also this is my 1st year bow hunting and started right off with a PSE X-Force Axe7 bottomed out at 74 lbs and my arrows are Beman ICS Hunter [email protected] gpi(375 grains total with broadhead). All have passed through and died with in sight. I may never pick up another firearm.

Antler restrictions have been very successful in PA. I am a big advocate for these types of regulations. You won't see a change in 1-2 yrs but hang in there and just watch what happens. We hunted in PA for quite a few years with some getting nice bucks(before the restrictions) 5 years after the restrictions were put in place we got an awesome 12 point(perfect 6x6), 2-9 points(very impressive), and 2-8 points(one was absolutely huge).....all on opening day of rifle season.

finding his bedding area is key. Hang a couple stands between his bedding and feeding areas. Keeping in mind what the prevailing wind is for your area. Then wait for the right wind. Also he looks young and if this is private land where you are the only hunter then I would wait another year while learning his home core area and setting up the right stand for the best opportunity. In just 1 more year he will be HUGE. Maybe even 2

I really don't believe they are the same buck. They are very similar, but the difference in width is obvious.

Daylight buck is near 20" outside spread, the nighttime buck is about 18" outside spread. Rule of thumb is....their ears are generally 15-16" wide

Off topic, but....Does anyone know why us in the NZ do not have to display our tags on our backs?

I am allergic to deer dander so I have it done by a butcher, also have to use shoulder length gloves when field dressing.

I shot this little guy on some state land in the NZ Canton/Potsdam area on 10/15. I could have used a muzzle loader but....I love my new bow(PSE X-Force Axe7). It was a 12 yard shot from one of my natural ground blinds I build. He never new what hit him. He ran towards me after the shot and stopped 10 ft away and bled out. When he finally crashed he was no more than 3 ft away from where I stood. What an awesome experience.

I got a nice little 6 pt at 10 yards. Came out to me @ 8:45 AM

I am looking into becoming a full time taxidermist. Any suggestions?

Rage are all they say they are. I use the100 grain but my bow is a bit faster. (PSE X-Force Axe7 bottomed out @ 74lbs) I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the 40KE's. A little pricey but they do a number on deer.

I put a Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 ($150) on my Savage ML10 and it has never failed. Clover leaf groups at 100 yards. Like the old saying. Buy a $50 gun but put a $200 scope on it.

Love that wildcat round. My father hunts with the same configuration when we travel down to Southerntier.

I like to read and play games on my DS while on stand. My hearing is exceptional so most do not get away from me. But I read self help books. They tend to allow me to read and pay attention to my surroundings at the same time.

I personally feel that if your stand was there and the gut pile is a result of a hunt from such stand there is no problem. It's not like you intentionally put it there to bait a bear.

I hunt 6A, 6C, 6G, and 6H. I will be going south to hunt 8F too this year.

I got a nice doe on 10/10/11 at 9 am. 10 yard shot from 1 of my brush blinds. Shot my very 1st with a bow on 10/2/11. Meat is in the freezer. I am hooked and may never pick up another firearm. I have been seeing some nice bucks but am not confident enough in my bow skills to take shots beyond 30 yards yet.
