    Camo

I have several different sets of camo I use throughout the fall. I usually start all of them with UA base layers (1.0-3.0) with the exception of the hot days in early fall. I have a really nice set of pants and jacket from Gander (Beartooth series I believe) that is 100% waterproof, quiet, windproof, and offers a lot of flexibility. When paired with the appropriate base layer it is warm in temps from 10-40 degrees. I would recommend this pair to anyone. This is my primary camo and this combo would probably work for most of the season if you added additional layering. I actually wore it a once with the heavier bottoms (3.0) and a UA fleece hoodie while ice fishing this past winter and it kept me pretty warm. For the really, really cold days when I plan on sitting for 5-6 hours I have a set of Cabelas pants and parka that does the job. I don't have any of the UA cold weather parkas or pants so I can't say how they perform. I can say that I am pleased with the rest of the hunting apparel I have from them, boots, gloves, balaclava (warmest one I've ever used), hats, and socks. Hope this helps.

    Camo

What part of the season are you aiming for? Early where it's warmer and the chance of rain is more likely or later when the chance of snow and bone chilling winds are possible? Or are you looking for the all season type of camo?
  3. Here are the hawks. One was perched on top of the pole while the other was scouring for food.
  4. I can try to get pics tomorrow.
  5. For the last week we've had a pair of what appear to be adolescent red tail hawks lurking around the house. Every morning they sit in the giant walnut tree or on the tops of the telephone poles and screech, shriek, and call for hours. Don't know a lot about them but I'm assuming they've been kicked out of the nest and are fending for themselves. Pretty neat experience to watch and hear. To top it off, we've had a lonely male mockingbird here for several weeks as well singing his A$$ off. All times of the day. When the moon was full last week he was calling in the middle of the night. He usually starts his antics about 3:30-4 am. Hope the little guy finds a mate so we can sleep in a little bit!
  6. That second buck seems like he'll have some extra curricular points. Possibly a split brow soon to follow? Looks older, 3 or 4 maybe? Nice looking deer, good luck.
  7. Yes, but some just have a lot more than others.
  8. Will measure barrel in morning but pretty sure it's 30". Barrels are modified (so I'm told) a dime will not completely fit into end of barrel. Year of manufacture is 1923.
  9. Caught this guy in the soybeans. Watched him last week for 10 minutes browsing through the beans at noon. Great looking young buck with some potential!
  10. What the hell they eating out there Wooly? I had some real odd balls here at the house 5-6 years ago. Only saw one of them during the season, this was the guy. He was a neat looking deer.
  11. These are two bucks my FIL has shot in Branchport. The 8 is a 130-140" 8 point. Not sure what the 10 would score, prob less than the 8 though. My wife took my trail can out of the van before we left so I didn't have it here to hang. But we walked around the property and I found some good spots for a stand.
  12. Scrape it with a flint knife.
  13. My in-laws actually live on Italy hill in Branchport. We're heading there tomorrow to visit, may have to bring a trail camera with me!
  14. My in-laws live up the hill from Keuka lake. Did you happen to stop by their place...haha. I'm going to be down there bow hunting this fall.
  15. I'm prepping my plot and am most likely going to plant turnips and over seed with clover. Anyone ever plant turnips? I never have but I'm hoping to use the plot as a late season attractant for bow hunting. I'm going to start with about 1/2-1 acre and see how it goes. May plant something else on the other side but not sure what yet.
  16. I routinely shoot out to 60 during practice. It makes the 30-40 yard shots seem so close and I feel more confident when shooting. Haven't shot at a deer past 45 yards, but if conditions were absolutely perfect would shoot out to 60. Nice shooting NFA-ADK!
  17. Nice project that turned out pretty sweet. Great job Wooly!
