Steel Shot & Interchangeable Chokes

Rule of thumb. A modified choke shooting steel will pattern pretty close to full using lead. Steel will shoot one choke tighter. -
Steel Shot & Interchangeable Chokes
Culvercreek hunt club replied to DirtTime's topic in General Hunting
I have seen interchangeable chokes with "do not use steel" Or "Not for Steel shot" on them. I would bet that most wouldn't be an issue. I believe the ones i saw were full or extra full chokes. -

Where is Pygmy. I wanna hear about the stone spears and boomerangs. -
Well it sure seemed as though you went down the road to make someone feel bad about his choices. Go back and read your comments. You don't agree with his stance on the crossbows, fair enough. He detailed his willingness to work had and pay for things that make him "happy" to demonstrate he isn't afraid of hard work. Knowing nothing about his actual financial status you pull out the wealth, 401k and "hood rich" comments. I only hope that everyone develops as high an opinion of you has you hold for yourself.

We actually used soup cans for this. the good ole dys when the walls of a can could withstand an explosion. it was best at night because the tennis ball actually looked like a comet at night. Glowing ball with a long tail. -
My point was the money and possessions are not wealth. Based on your response I believed it framed your mindset. I've seen several posts from you on the $$ and your career. It's all great. At the end of the day only you can determine you "wealth" and your "success". If you are happy with it there is no one else's opinion that matters. Very similar to the taking a deer with a bow or a crossbow. If any of theses guys are happy and enjoyed their hunts, I am happy for them.

Wooly, Well we all know you are just a lazy gun hunter at heart anyway...lol

And I can tell about your age in that comment. Down the road you will realize that true "wealth" has nothing to do with any form of money or possessions.

If that is the same as we used to do, we called it "skitching". Sneak out, grab the bumper and off to the races with feet sliding on snowy roads. Bare/melted spots added an entirely new dimension and level of difficulty . lol. but it beat walking everywhere. -

Spent many a day building forts in the woods. Catching crayfish in the many creeks. fishing and when old enough small game hunting. I grew up on the outer boarder of a neighbor hood and there was always pick up baseball games in the spring and summer. The fall was pick up full tackle football pick up games with no pads or helmets. (might explain some things about me, huh?). night time was neighborhood wide games of manhunt. As far as toys, it seemed like hotwheels and GO Joes were the flavor of the times. -
New 2016 crossbow legislation introduced

I wonder if we are the cause or a symptom, Doc. Has the sport shifted the priorities or has the change to a solo or small group mentality just an inevitable reaction to the dicing up of the large tracts of land that used to be around. Back in the days that I talked about we covered a lot of land in a day. I know the parcels we hunted back then (state land aside) have been diced up, developed and are no longer open to a group of that size. -
Three calibers for the world
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Borngeechee's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
That was my thought as well. Only reason I opted for the 22 lr over the 308 was the ability for small game, ability to easily pack thousands of rounds and having the ability to fire shot out of it
