  1. But their official reasoning is that his ammo could be utilized and an AR pistol and therefor the ammo should be banned because it can penetrate type (class)2. Based on the specifications of type 2 all 223 ammo will. And since an AR is available in a host of other calibers, I don't think it is a tinfoil hat stretch to be concerned what their next official position could be
  2. Also. Using my mulched flower beds as a littler box is a capital offense.
  3. Is the line in the sand to them is "being able to penetrate Class 2 body Armor" then hold on to your hats. I'll be waiting to the "I only hunt and they won't be bothering with my stuff" crowd's heads to start exploding. Give you all a hint. Try any of your hunting rifles with your hunting ammo against class 2.
  4. Doewacker studied culinary and is now in charge of that yummy hospital food. "Note to self, never accept an invite from Doe involving food" LOL
  5. Wondering if anyone has RECENT, very good experiences with a waterfowl outfitter in Maryland? Goose, puddle duck, sea ducks or divers.
  6. I thought their official response was about the clerical error or clerical omission.
  7. Several of our members have been on this Elk hunt. They can't say enough good things about it.
  8. you will love the incline setting while bow hunting. I agree with Papist's approach. I tend to pre range at several locations where I think they are coming. More often that not you won't have the chance to do it when deer is there.
  9. It is that time of the year again. The Great Rochester Southern Tier branch of QDMA is hosting it's 3rd annual banquet on April 11th and the RIT Inn and Conference Center. It will be bigger and better than the previous 2. Great prizes, food and fun. The Early bird deadline is March 26th, Very important date for the best value in general raffle tickets and the pre purchase is the only way to get a chance at the gun of the year. There will be a GREAT General Raffle (including firearms), silent auction and live auction (With whitetail, bear and Elk hunts, just to name a few). Of course, there will be several opportunities to win one of the guns in our various games. Please check out the banquet flyer. https://www.dropbox.com/s/c13ptjfm1focy92/2015%20Banquet%20Order%20Mailer.pdf?dl=0 Hope to see you there.
  10. I actually heard a perfect solution to the problem on the radio several months ago. No need for a name change, just change the logo. Change it to a potato and case solved.
  11. Had several jobs in School from a Boy Scout Camp Counselor, working on a Dairy Farm, Factory assembly work to selling hickory Farms. My professional career stated as a Construction Surveyor and worked my way up to Foreman and Superintendent for a couple large General Construction firms. (only worked for two companies over the last 28 years) I have run the estimation department in one of them for 4 years, bidding a billion dollars of work a year. I have been a project manager and now am in charge of all the company, also with HR responsibilities. And I do pretty fair on some side home renovation work.
  12. Elmo, I was merely pointing out that the holiday was on a Sunday. The break was named for it's proximity to the holiday and not time off BECAUSE of the holiday.
  13. Mike, Have you guys placed anything in the Outdoor News?
  14. yeah the Nikon is set for 55 gr. Or you can always get a custom scope done to you specific caliber and load. http://quigleyford.com/ We are going to have two of these at the April banquet.
  15. if you have an Encore that is a no brainer in my book. Check this classified page out. I picked up my heavy 223 barrel on here and my 308 pistol barrel . Just watch, like any classified there are some guys that think their used is worth as much as new. http://www.encoreclassifieds.com/forum/
  16. The reason I was asking, as a lefty you may want to consider a single shot platform. Especially if you are just setting up a varmint gun. Follow up shots may not be an issue and there are some nice single shots in that price range. My cousin had an H&R in 223 with full bull barrel. it had nice laminate stocks and you could pick up some nice high powered glass and be very close to that budget. inside 300 yards it shot right with my Encore.
  17. I have no interest in a custom gun but I would like to put my hands on a high grade Winchester 100 in 308. It was my Dad's first new rifle and he sold it for a down payment on the house I grew up in. This could be Dad's last season with his cancer (but I sure hope not). Would love to lay that gun in his hands, have him take a few deer and be able to pass it down to his grand kids. (I know, I know...the 100 can be a dysfunctional nightmare)
  18. Agreed, Warmer days and the nights still cold can mean a crust that is difficult for them to get through. It can also mean that they break through walking but the coyotes don't.
