  1. My brother in Law has a forwarded mounted scope on his old Hastings bull barrel for his 12 ga 870. It is narrow but you don't lose anything because it is so far from you face you actually have better peripheral view than with a normal scope.
  2. Agreed but my compound is basically a 25 yard pin and a tad high at 20 and a tad low at 30. about 3" difference from 20 to 30. basically point and shoot out to 30.
  3. Grow, How far are you anticipating shooting with the crossbow? I don't know your set up but I can't imagine there is much drop at 30 yards. maybe even 40. I would find the hold on it and shoot distance for it and then don't worry anymore about the range. Since you shoot instinctive you can judge those close in distances without having to range the deer. Don't over think it. you know your stands. find the hold zero area around each one and then when the deer is inside it, let 'er fly. if they are outside that distance and you are comfortable there, range it.
  4. Only thing I I looking for is a new pair of water proof bibs. dozen Full Metal Jacket arrows and some .30 cal 165gr sierra Game kings....If I can ever find them.
  5. absolutely love mine. First time I used it I thought it was broken. Couldn't feel any air flow and no heat. But it works like magic...lol. I also bought the wader extensions and it sure makes a difference for the second morning after a hunt not climbing into clammy waders.
  6. Kind of a biased source but give a fair idea of what is allowed and not allowed in other states. http://lucky-buck.com/state-regulation-list-baiting-feeding
  7. I can think of other reasons to opposed yet more senseless regulations.
  8. Why? Are the resident hunters in NY not allowed to hunt in other locations? I am not going to sit here and try to tell everyone that I believe that the majority of these products are traveling out of state to legal baiting states. I can do that because we all know it is mostly bull. But in the same breath I am very hesitant to pass any more regulations or laws when the DEC has demonstrated to me personally that they have no interest in following up on the ones that they do have. Same bait location, built structure, regularly filled and three complaints called in....Almost seems like they are turning a blind eye to it unless it comes in conjunction with another violation.
  9. yes it can. some view that it works better if you can uproot it but this is a way to pull it off with only a chainsaw. Two fold benefit. The hinge cut itself and the opening of the canopy to allow new growth.
  10. hinge cutting. partial cut through and falling of a tree to bring the browse down to an edible height. or the tops left from a logging operation.
  11. What are you targeting with the 220's
  12. Sure seemed like FSW has fallen off his meds again.
  13. One more perfect example that Obama is a liar. I thought he said everyone was going to have access to health care and the medications they needed.
  14. Doc, I would like to point out that many counties were added quite a few years back, not 1, 2 or 3. In this area of the state yes but there is more data than you are giving credit for n those regions.
  15. BINGO!!! give the man a cigar. I knew that was the one...lol. I never had a good experience in there. I live within 5 minutes of the place and would rather drive an hour than go in there.
  16. I have hunted out there a lot. I used to live in that neck of the woods. I am a little dismayed that you would make the comments about it being dangerous and make it sound as though it is more dangerous that what currently is used. The previous counties that adopted this have not seen the sky fall as was talked about when they went with rifles. The counties I remember seeing change to rifle all went through a "trial" period. Each we made permanent following it.
  17. Restrict at .308? why would that make sense? so you could use a 25-06 or 22-250 but not a 444 marlin or similar big bore, which are awesome tight quarter brush guns.
  18. Chevy....where was it? I would be interested because I have had some crap experiences with a few in our area. PM me if you don't want to put it out in public.
  19. I thought we were talking about buck hunting, not your Friday night bar standards...lol
  20. I have actually seen more than usual around camp and at home.
  21. simple solution....more deer drives! Rack'em and stack 'em
  22. except for the two bucks I took that I had trail cam pics of, I can honestly say I haven't had time to debate the actual age. It really boils down to "old enough" "click" for me. Especially with a buck running a doe. He isn't standing and giving you much time to assess multiple features.
  23. Well the Bass Pro that is going into Victor is a Flagship store. That means one of the big ones that is much bigger than Auburn. Add Cabelas in Buffalo and Field And Stream in Henrietta, and I give Gander less than a year before that sign is for real. It will be a 75% going out of business sale.
