I have hunted both Arnold Lake forest, Exter state forest and Hartwick state forest. They can get hit pretty hard but they always produced for us. It has been a few years but I think you stand a decent chance at a doe tag. A second tag can be an issue. Canadarago and Otsego lakes are very good fishing. Also good hard water fishing. For canoe or carry in john boat fishing Weaver lake and Young lake are a lot of fun for panfish and the pickerel are very eager to bite. They are very weedy but a top water fishing is great there.

Braking the leave and crushing it will tell if it is skunk cabbage or not...lol. Make sure you rub it all over your hands really well so you can get a good wiff.

Looks great. How is it hanging? just the sewn in loops? Putting my Father's up this year and we are mounting it on plywood so it is displayed taught and flat. We are actually putting it up at camp on the ceiling.

Understanding NY crossbow law
Culvercreek hunt club replied to tughillmcd's topic in CrossBow Hunting
I bet in high population areas, if the bow hunters can't control the numbers, don't be surprised to see a doe only early muzzleloader season. It was discussed previously. -
it is a special nail gun. A regular flooring nailer wont work.

13 Elite Pulse

Where are you located? -
The model we put down had a nice texture on it. They don't have a dog so I cant say on that. The color is all the way through though so I wouldn't "think" scratches would be any worse than any other deck board.
-
We had the owner change her mind as we started and had to pull two boards. The do not come out easily. wrecked the boards. It is as fast as the advertising claims.

Dins dale and NY. Every use the nails I linked?

Hadn't noticed any

don't follow you. It nails right through the edge of the board like installing hardwood floor. Watch the video on that page I linked. the "Tee" portion of the nail is your spacer for the next board.

What is best way to preserve wild turkey feet?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Deerthug's topic in Taxidermy
I tool a board and used finishing nails to position the toes as I wanted them. and tied them down with sting. Then held the leg joint into position with sting as well so it was all balanced and upright. dusted a bit of salt on the exposed joint and set the whole board in the garage for a couple months. That was 15 years ago and it looks great still. I don't thin there is much meat there to worry about. could probably bake it at low temp to speed it up. The board helps make sure that when the foot dries it sits right on whatever you display it on. (shelf) -
it goes down quickly too. On the big deck I did we had one guy cutting and one guy rough placing and feeding me the boards. On this one section of 12' long boards with 30' running length, the boards were down in an hour. That is about a board every 30 seconds.

Understanding NY crossbow law
Culvercreek hunt club replied to tughillmcd's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Which isn't a totally bad idea. A person going into that 14 day season would not get an extra tag over the one they purchase to ML hunt. If they tag there, then they won't be out in late ML season. The only way to get an extra Bowhunting tag is to sit through the course and hunt with a long or compound. -

or is archery carrying into ML season? Neither actually. Both seasons are open at the same time. -

Your first purchased extra privilege is either sex. the second is antlerless only and the tags are valid in either special season. -
I did a deck two yeas ago with it. It was great. Unlike the old trex I used before this stuff is solid, it doesn't seem as porous as the Trex was. We did not use screws. we nailed it and the application rate went very quickly. it goes down just like a hardwood floor. the only screws are on the trailing edge of the first board and the leading edge of the last. It is cool to the touch and the texture of the style we used was very non-slip even when wet. These are the fasteners, a bit of sticker shock but the end product is great and the quickness of installation makes up for the cost of the nails. Oh...and all boards are perfectly spaced. http://www.hid-fast.com/

NY DEC: 2013 Deer Harvest Results are In
Culvercreek hunt club replied to burmjohn's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
They only have to be reported if recovered and tagged. I know of two places that the marginal shots are made on purpose and there is not attempt at recovery. No reporting needed in that scenario. Seems like such a waste and I think the DDP's should be done away with. -

NY DEC: 2013 Deer Harvest Results are In
Culvercreek hunt club replied to burmjohn's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
Personally the biggest issue in handling the local population booms in the deer herd is access. If the hunters can't get to the deer, a tractor trailer load of tags won't help. I think the 150' change was set to help that but I sure would like to see some active role out of DEC to assist in access. Don't know how it could be done but that is my take. -

For population control you are probably better off shooting two average does than one big one. -
To what ends? Are you looking for a hunting mentor and a coach on shooting form or are you headed towards something like competitive shooting?
