Residency in two states?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Muthers's topic in Out of New York Hunting
K--I think the question was more being able to actually GET a resident license. If you don't have a NY state ID like a drivers Licence they hit you with Non resident. A buddy on mine just moved to PA and after 25 years of NY hunting they wouldn't sell him the resident tags since he had switched the drivers license to PA. if he had purchased a lifetime prior to move he would hae been golden- 6 replies

I believe all NY state pistol permit holders are on such a list. Few years back the State Police had to turn it over to be published in a FOIL.

I hope he holds on to that feeling for the rest of his life!! congrat to you both.

Maine Bird hunting trip
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Doewhacker's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
SOunds like a great trip, Doe. It is awesome when a dog is working well....birds are just a bonus. -
I know it is petty but it just struck me (again) how stupid some of our regulations really are. I know they are probably talking about the big game while it is swimming but that isn't what it says....lol. ankle deep? knee deep? swimming? how about standing in a creek or in a flooded timber?

Oh I am with ya,Makes no sense to me. seems like a law where they don't trust us to be lawful having a pisol and not using it on that big buck just out of bow range...lol. I think any DEC office worth their salt could tell the difference between a bullet hole and an arrow hole.

no...not lgal while bow hunting even with a permit. That would be a game law violation. carrying a pistol witout a permit while bow hunting would be a felony.

Agreed. -
legally it would have to be a centerfire last season I carried it mainly becasue I carried my ML during the regular season. In the proper holster the weight isn't noticed by me.
-
if it is a park with multiple businesses you may need the permission from not only the land owner but the businesses leasing the buildings. refereing to the 500' regulation.
-
but NEVER into the wind...lol

Last season was my first season with the pemit and thanks to Cabin Fever I brought along my new to me 357. I will be doing the same this year. I will even carry it when I take out my encore pistol in .308 win.

I noticed that all through the debate. He kept looking down, pouting and clinching his jaw, like he couldn't believe anyone would dare speak to him that way. You know kind of how an 8 year old acts. -

If nothing else I want someone in that office that has a bit of fear about returning for another term. Bo would have no such fear. -

Thanks guys, just what I wanted to know. I am loading for my encore with a bit heavier bullet so I think my not to exceed is 25.5 with a start load of like 23. Metering was my big concern, a buddy has an AR and I want to be able to run the powder measure for plinking ammo. I hand weigh all my precision stuff. -
Previous Thunderhead shooter here. I did the mechanical run but went back to the fixed. A friend that does a lot of traveling for North American species made a suggestion to me and I am very glad he did. I wanted a cut on contact that was tough and he uses the Montec G5. great quality and amazingly strong. very easy to sharpen on any quality flat stone. If you are going back to fixed blade I would suggest them.

Residency in two states?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Muthers's topic in Out of New York Hunting
You may want to check with their DEC, DNR...whatever they call them. there may be a specific rule about students. (I would think it would make good sense to let students hunt)- 6 replies
