  1. Might sound a little odd but aside from my daughters Home coming Football game I will be in the tree stand all 3 days. I am trying for all day site. In a time of the year when most of the movement i see is at dawn and dusk it might help inject a little mid day movement.
  2. Oh come on....you know better than that,....lol. I never listen to all those voices in my head.
  3. I like setting up off tot e side of a trail if I expect them to travel it. Try to avoid an approach that is head on or head away. if they do not turn they can walk right under you and neer present a good shot. That said, I can assure you one thing. no matter how much you prepare, scout and thnk you have it all figured out, they will walk in from where you least expect them...lol. Good luck.
  4. Everyone is yelling at me saying "DON'T ASK"...but here goes....lol What elephant, Grow?
  5. I understand . when you were talking about these kids I thought you were really referencing these kids. I think this is kind of catering to those that don't want their deer season interupted by dragging a kid along. I do have hopes it gets the kids hooked an a bit of a more controlled setting. I can remember the cold feet and sitting at teh base of a tree for hours with snow covering everything. tough sit for an 8 year old. Dad made it fun though and I hope some of these kids get to feel that. maybe we can get them involved in spite of the parents that don't want their season hampered.
  6. Doc, just FYI gun and bow is already mixed in the NZ. I don't think I have heard of an instance where a ML hunter shot a bow hunter. as far as no one taking these kids hunting before....this would be the first time they are eligible to gun hunt deer. kinda the point of the season...lol
  7. Gotta love it when you see that much character in a younger rack.
  8. Cheif...might actually notice a bit of a change with a brand new string and then things like peep rotation might need to be tweaked again after around 100 shots. But with your success I wouldn't mess with 3 weeks to go. I would save next June for experiments...lol
  9. I would have to go check my numbers but my Full Metal jacket arrows ar like 11 gpi - 100 grain tip. inserts and fletchings and such I am probably in the 450 -460 grain range. I think my KE at 10 yards was 73ft/#. you should look up the spine chart too so you know if you are on the limit of a spine selection. There is overlap in the selections and sometimes that switch can make a tweak. Then there is the calculations and verification of weight forward of center. I think there were threads here last years that went through the FOC .
  10. The only number we could comment on is the GPI without knowing informationon your set up. GPI is grains per inch. the 400 number is thes pine of the arrow and without knowing the draw length and # draw no one can tell you if it is correct for your set up
  11. Welcome and I am also in Monreo county. just a small bit of advice....harness...harness...harness. Good luck and stay safe.
  12. Let's not make it sound like these young hunters are out there unsupervised. I will be bow hunting that weekend and I will be putting my BO vest around the tree I am in.
  13. I would also look at the natural funnel between the creek and the Hay field that touches the corn. That would look like a good area if there is any mast in there and the bucks start cruising.
  14. I guess we wil see how small their numbers are in November.
  15. if you can't resight in and make adjustments don't change a thing at this point. Why? Lot of deer have fallen to bown under 55#
  16. In no way woudl I touch the rest. I might tweak the 40 yard pin to compensate if you wanted to. remember how we all fall apart and forget to hold a hair right when a monster 10 steps out.
  17. is it just the broadheads that are left at 40 or are both left? can the pins be individually adjusted left and right?
  18. How far left are you at 70?. Come on I thought it was funny. for that small amount at that distacne it might be you or the pin too. if you are no using a very small diameter pin try that. a pin blocks a lot of target at that distance. Sounds like your group is stil good so are the 40 and 50 yard pins able to be adjusted right and left? If you are flying true out to 30 , i wouldn't touch the rest. Realistically how many shots are you going to have at that range and would you take them? One other thing? do you have a level vile on your site? at those distacnes a small cant inteh bow could put you that far off.
  19. Do you all have any idea how easuily they fit on a spit? And they carve so easily!!
  20. I have read that Pork FAT doesn't freeze as well as beef fat.
  21. Nice bucks Wooly. I wish the bucks I have4 around shared that long brow tine gene. never get anything ove 3-4". Pick out the wall space and put one down. Good luck
  22. Where in the state do you hunt? These freaking statewide comments kill me You guys have no freaking clue what the situations are in the entire state. Do you haev do permits where you hunt? Big chunks of the state DON'T. what do we say to these hunters? This herd health stuff is crap. ...tightening a breeding window so the fawns don't get taken by predators? if the herd was in such a need of that protection the populations would be in a decreasing state. Over most fot eh SZ the doe tags sure look like they have increased since I have been hunting. SO let's quit freaking around. IT IS ABOUT HAVING MORE MATURE BUCKS WHICK EQUALS BIGGER ANTLERS AND EQUALS MORE/EASIER OPPORTUNITIES. So let's save teh other BS...This is what the push for AR is about.
  23. If I promise not to collect SS can I opt out on the contribution...lol.... I wish
